THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park on the side of the road. The vehicle was not drivable. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS AN ISSUE WITH OIL CONSUMPTION BUT I HAD DONE AN OIL CHANGE NOT EVEN 2000 MILES AGO AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW THERE WAS NO WARNING I WAS LUCKY IT WAS AT NIGHT AND THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND DRIVING BEHIND ME AND NOW I'M WAITING 1500 MILES TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AGAIN AND IF IT DOES IT AGAIN THEY SAID I'LL GET A NEW ENGINE I HOPE THIS ISSUE GETS RESOLVED CAN'T BELIEVE THE QUALITY OF THESE CARS IS SO BAD

My 17 year old son was driving vehicle and it just turned off in middle of highway. The vehicle took several attempts to crank on different occasions. We were told it was a battery so we replaced and it kept happening then found out the oil was extremely low even though we were barely over a 1000 miles since last oil change. They started oil consumption tests and said oh you are super low on 2 of the tests, come the 3rd test they are now saying it’s within spec and just check the oil a couple times before each oil change. Why would have trust my 17 year old to be able to go off to college in an unreliable car?!?!? We have been dealing with this for over and year and now they want us to restart the oil consumption test.

Roughly 2500 miles after my last oil change I noticed while driving at town speeds that my engine was sluggish to accelerate. After ten minutes of driving I tried to execute a left hand turn and my vehicle's engine cut off completely. I had to guide the car to the side of the road to restart it. There were NO indicator lights on or messages indicating that there was an issue. I pulled over to check the oil and it was low (barely anything on the dipstick and DARK). I immediately drove to my nearest Jeep dealership and on the way there the car shut off again during a turn. Both times were during left-hand turns into traffic and I was lucky to have had enough speed to get out of the way. When I took my vehicle to the dealership, they gave me an oil change and told me to come back for an oil consumption test. Two months later (when I hit the designated miles for the test) they told me they'd found nothing wrong with the vehicle and sent me away. Two months later (and only 1300 miles since the oil change the dealership gave me), I was back at the same dealership with the same issue, low and dark oil. Luckily, I had been proactive and caught it before stalling in traffic anywhere. Again, the dealership offered to change my oil and do a consumption test, but nothing further. It's clear that the 2018 Jeep Compass has engine issues that Jeep is unwilling to acknowledge but these issues are dangerous and costly. I should not need an oil change every 1500 miles or risk putting myself and my passengers in danger.

Car will stall out and shut off in the middle of traffic or I’ll press the brakes and the car will shut off . Also with auto shut off the car will shut off when waiting for car to turn back on to go from a stop light . When taking a sharp turn oil pressure light will flash and then car will throw emergency break on and shut off for example while going around an on ramp to hwy.

Vehicle shut down on highly traveled city street due to low oil pressure. It was found that the Jeep Compass was consumming oil at a very rapid rate (within 1500 miles of an oil change). We have monitored the oil consumption regurlerly and find that we need to add oil about every 1500 miles. There are NO oil leaks in the engine or around the vehicle, it is being consummed by the engine operation.

EXCESSIVE OIL USE - TOLD IT WAS NORMAL

OIL BURNS THROUGH OIL EXCESSIVELY, 2,900 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE, EVERY OIL CHANGE THE VEHICLE STARTS ALARMING OIL PRESSURE LOW AND WILL JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I'VE ALMOST GOT INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS. IT'S DANGEROUS, NO WARNING EXCEPT THE ALARM WHICH COMES ON AS THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF

THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.

ENGINE CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON ROADWAY LOSS OF OIL IS NOT SAFE ON HIGHWAY FOR FEAR ON CUTTING OF.WILL START BACK UP 10 MINUTES AFTER STALLING

I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR CLOSE TO A YEAR AND I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. EACH TIME WHEN I'M CALLED TO PICK UP THE CAR AND AM TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED/REPAIRED, I DRIVE A FEW BLOCKS AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COMES ON. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE STOP/START FEATURE CONKS OUT. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS IN THAT I DON'T KNOW IF THERE TRULY IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE OR IS IT JUST A FAULTY LIGHT. THE START/STOP FEATURE DOESN'T ALARM ME AS MUCH, BUT IT ADDS TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE ENGINE ISSUE.

THESE ENGINE IS USING UP ALL THE OIL EVERY 1000 MILES

VEHICLE CONSUMES TOO MUCH OIL AND WILL FAIL TO HAVE ENOUGH OIL PRESSURE AND EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE WILL ENGAGE RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AND CAR WILL STOP. OIL PRESSURE LIGHT WILL ENGAGE ALSO AND CAR CAN FAIL TO START. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE PCV VALVE SINCE I HAD SIMILAR ISSUE WITH MY 2015 CHRYSLER 200 AND THE PCV VALVE WAS CULPRIT. DEALERSHIP ADVISED TO RECONFIGURE PCM AND COME BACK FOR OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AFTER 1500 MILES. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP AFTER THE 1500 MILES ON 2-2-21AND VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO BE LOW ON OIL. DEALERSHIP JUST TOPPED IT OFF AND SAID IT WAS "OKAY, NO FURTHER WORK NEEDED AT THIS TIME". THIS IS A DANGER AND THE CAR IS CONSUMING TOO MUCH OIL. THE PCV VALVE OR ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED

ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT FAST SPEED

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO QUALITY MOTORS (2022 W MAIN ST, INDEPENDENCE, KS 67301, (620)331-6090) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CYLINDER COMPRESSION TEST SHOWED THAT THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER WAS FAULTY HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V670000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AND THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. I WAS ABLE TO PUT ON HAZARDS BUT MY VEHICLE WAS STOPPED ON AN ON RAMP AND WOULDN'T START UP RIGHT AWAY. LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM A LITTLE MORE AFTER I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME, THIS CAR IS KNOWN TO HAVE AN EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I CHANGED MY OIL MYSELF 4 MONTHS AGO AND AM WORKING FROM HOME, THERE HAS BEEN MINIMAL DRIVING. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL, IT BARELY REACHED THE DIPSTICK. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED WHAT JEEP IS DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THE RESPONSE WAS TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE (WHICH IT DOESN'T NEED) AND TO BRING THE CAR BACK EVERY 500 MILES FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THAT IS ALL JEEP IS DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT YOUR OIL IS LOW, YOUR CAR WILL JUST TURN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT. EXTREMELY TERRIFYING.

CAR WILL INTERMITTENTLY CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING YOU TO HAVE TO PUT IN PARK, TURN OFF AND THEN RESTART CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. TODAY 8.12 I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND IN THE MIDST OF THE TURN THE CAR CUT OFF WHICH AUTOMATICLLY ENGAGED THE PARKING BREAK. I HAD TO DISENGAGE THE BREAK, PUSH CAR TO MEDIUM TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC, PUT IN PARK AND CYCLE THE CAR OFF. I WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE CAR BUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS TAKES A FEW MINUTES.

ENGINE IS FAILING MULTIPLE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS AT DEALERSHIP. WHEN ASKED WHAT THE NEXT STEP IS FOR A RESOLUTION WE ARE TOLD IT IS ONLY DOCUMENTED. THE VEHICLE IS BURNING 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES.
