VEHICLE HAS CONSTANT, ANNOYING BRAKE NOISE. SERVICE MANAGER REPLACED ALL THE ROTORS, BOTH FRONT AND REAR, CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS ROUTINE MAINTENACE AT UNDER 10,000 MILES. *ET
THE PINS THAT HOLD THE CALIPERS BROKE OFF, CAUSING VEHICLE BRAKING SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE FRONT ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES WHILE IN A SLOW TIGHT TURN AND BRAKES APPLIED, WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL AND FRONT END SHAKE AND VIBRATE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE TURNING INTO PARKING SPACES OR MAKING A U TURN EITHER DIRECTION, AND IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THE DEALER SAID THAT KIA KNOWS ABOUT IT AND THAT IT IS NORMAL. I ALMOST HIT A CHILD IN IN A PARKING LOT BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP, WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED AT SLOW SPEEDS THE CAR IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND KIA SHOULD FIND A WAY TO FIX IT SINCE THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS ON THIS PROBLEM 8 TIMES IN 10 MONTHS. PLEASE HELP. *AK
VEHICLE SHAKES WHILE BRAKING. NLM
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE JAN OF 1999, IT HAD 18,000 MILES. APRROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE I NOTICED THE FRONT HUBS AND RIMS LINED WITH GREASE AND OIL. I INFORMED BOTH THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM, AND THE KIA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICAL. THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF IT. FROM THAT POINT ON I HAVE BEEN HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS KIA. I TOOK THE VEHICAL IN AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THE CALIPERS, ROTORS, AND DRUMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM STARTED TO WEAR OUT THE PADS OF ALL THESE PARTS, AND NOW IS GRINDING THEM AWAY. THIS PROBLEM IS A DEFECT IN THE PARTS USED BY THE MANUFACTURE AND THEY SHOULD BUY MY KIA BACK FROM ME, AND OR REPAIR IT TO NEW CONDITION. THIS IS JUST THE MAJOR ISSUE I HAVE WITH KIA THERE ARE MANY OTHER VARIOUS PROBLEMS WITH IT SUCH AS THE WINDOW MOTOR KEEPS GOING OUT(I THINK THERE IS A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), THE REAR TIRE CARRIER KEEPS GETTING STUCK, ETC ETC ETC. PLEASE HELP ME I AM AT A LOSE AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO. I CAN'T AFFORD $2500 TO FIX THE BRAKES, THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER GONE BAD, NOT TO MENTION ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICAL (1998 KIA SPORTAGE).
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS AND THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 8300 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST TIME THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON AND THEY CHANGE THE ENG BRAKE SOLENOID. THE SECONED TIME THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND ALL FOUR BRAKES PARCIALLY LOCKED UP. THIS TIME I WAS DONIG 68 ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE LOCKED UP. I MISSED HITTING ANOTHER CAR BY LESS THAN AN INCH WHEN IT MADE MY VEHICLE SWERVE INSTANTLY. I AM GETTING SCARED TO DRIVE IT AT ALL!! WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT? "I DON'T WANT TO DIE OR KILL MY FAMILY OR SOMEONE ELSE'S!!!!"
ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO A SQUEAKING NOISE MADE BY THE BRAKES WHEN THE WERE APPLIED. ALSO DEALER REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER. ROTORS, ONCE AGAIN, NEED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHEN DRIVING ON WET AND DRY PAVEMENT THE REAR TIRES LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN. ALSO EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE OCCURRED WHICH NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION. CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK
THE BRAKE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON AND WENT OFF FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN CAME ON STEADY. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ABS BRAKE MODE SOLENOID SENSOR. AFTER 1 WEEK BRAKE LIGHT CAME BACK ON, AND THEN MASTER CYLINDER WENT. AFTER 2 WEEKS BRAKE LIGHT CAME BACK ON FOR LESS THAN A SECOND AND WENT BACK OFF. THEN LAST WEEK LIGHT CAME BACK ON FOR ANOTHER SECOND AND WNET BACK OUT. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT BACK TO DEALER YET. *AK

BRAKES GRINDING PEDDLE GOING TO FLOORWHEELBEARING BROKE
VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. ALSO, THE BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP & VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO A SPIN. VEHICLE WOULD BOUNCE UP & DOWN AS IF NO SHOCKS. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER 4 TIMES & HAD IT TEST DRIVEN. ROTORS WERE CHANGED. THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED OR FOUND. *AK
AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE NOTICE HIGH AMOUNT OF BRAKE DUST ON BOTH FRONT DISK BRAKES DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL FOR MATELLIC BRAKES CURRENTLY SQEAKING
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL LETTER, CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS COULD NOT BE MADE UNTIL INFORMATION ON HOW TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS GIVEN FROM THE MANUFACTURER. RECALL#98V222000. *AK *ML
WHILE DRIVING AND STEPPING ON BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP, ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THEN REAR BRAKES SKIDDED. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *AK
