I HAD TO STOP ON I95 HIGHWAY FOR AN EMERGENCY AND THE CAR WON'T START AGAIN. I WAITED FOR 20 MINS AND THE CAR STARTED. NEXT DAY, MY WIFE TOOK THE CAR TO OFFICE AND THE CAR HAD SAME ISSUE AND WAS UNABLE TO START. ALL ELECTRICAL WERE WORKING BUT THE ENGINE WAS NOT MAKING ANY NOISE FOR CAR STARTUP AND HAD TO TOW IT TO MECHANIC. BOTH THE TIMES CAR WAS STATIONARY, BUT FIRST TIME IT WAS ON HIGHWAY DUE TO AN EMERGENCY AND IT WAS QUITE SCARY. THE MECHANIC SAID THE C300 HAVE COMMON EIS FAILURE, WHICH NEED TO BE REPLACED.
MY MERCEDES WAS HIT IN THE FRONT IN DECEMBER AND AFTER PARTIAL REPAIRS WERE DONE, WE PICKED UP THE CAR AND ON 2ND DAY OF HAVING IT, IT WOULD NOT START. THOUGHT IT WAS BATTERY BUT OF COURSE IT WASN'T . HOOKED UP TO OUR SCANNER AND ALL KINDS OF CODES WERE DISPLAYED SO WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO WHERE REPAIRS WERE DONE AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS ESL MODULE AND THEIR OPINION IT WAS CAUSED BY ACCIDENT. $2700.00 LATER OUT OF MY OWN POCKET WE HAVE CAR BACK AND FIXED. SO WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, NOT US. I BELIEVE THAT MERCEDES SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THE OTHER INSURANCE SHOULD PAY FOR THIS ALSO. I SEE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS BUT MINE I BELIEVE WAS CAUSED BY ACCIDENT.
WITHOUT A WARNING OR ANY DASHBOARD LIGHTS MY CAR DID NOT START ONE MORNING, IT MADE A GUNCK SOUND AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WOULD TURN ON. MY NEIGHBOR THEN TRIED TO JUMP START THE CAR AND ONLY THE RADIO WOULD TURN ON. I THEN CALLED AAA WHO WAS THE ABLE TO START MY CAR AND SAID THE BATTERY WAS GOOD AND THAT I SHOULD BE OKAY TO DRIVE. (I HAD LEFT NOTHING ON THE NIGHT BEFORE) I THEN WENT ON A 3 HOUR DRIVE DURING THE CHRISTMAS BREAK AND ABOUT AND HOUR IN THE CAR BEGAN ACTING WEIRD ALMOST AS IF IT WANTED TO SHUT OFF, AND RANDOMLY A SERVICE "ABS AND ESP" AND "AIR BAG" AND FEW OTHER THINGS WOULD COME ON THE DASH BOARD. AS SOON AS I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD, THIS TIME I WOULDN'T EVEN LET ME LOCK THE CAR WITH THE FOB. I HAD AAA COME AGAIN AND THEY WERE ABLE TO WITH A LITTLE PLAYING AROUND WITH THE KEY AND IGNITION, TURN IT BACK ON. MY WHOLE DRIVE BACK WAS WORSE THAN THE DRIVE THERE THAT I EVEN THOUGHT I WASN'T GOING TO MAKE IT HOME SAFELY BUT I MADE AND AGAIN AS SOON AS I PARKED, THE CAR DIED. SINCE IT WAS THE HOLIDAYS I WASN'T ABLE TO GO TO MERCEDES AND IN THE MEANTIME FOR 3 DAYS TRIED TO GET IT ON BUT NOTHING WITH BOTH SETS OF KEYS, THIS TIME IT WOULDN'T EVEN LET ME UNLOCK THE CAR AND THE ALARM KEPT GOING OFF WHEN I WOULD TRY TO UNLOCK IT . I CALLED AAA AGAIN TO UNLOCK AND START MY CAR BUT WERE UNABLE TO START THE CAR, THE ALARM KEPT GOING OFF EVERY TIME WE PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. WHEN LOOKING AT THE SYMPTOMS MY CAR IS HAVING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THE CLOSEST MB TO ME IS ABOUT A 40 MINUTE DRIVE AND WILL BE VERY COSTLY TO HAVE IT TOWED AND FROM THE COMPLAINTS READ MOST HAVE HAD TO PAY BETWEEN 1200 -1500 TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR UNDER 2 YEARS, 95K MILES.
I HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING LOCK MODULE WHICH COST NEARLY $1200. THE CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000 KM. THE CAR STARTED FINE IN THE MORNING AND WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES IN THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR AND TRIED TO START IT, IT WOULD NOT CRANK. THE ALARM TURNED OFF FINE, RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER READ THE KEY AND GOOD ME TO REMOVE IT BEFORE EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION AND STEERING WHEEL WERE LOCKED IN PARK. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE STEERING LOCK MODULE. I READ ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES.
SO MY 2009 C300 OUT OF NOWHERE DECIDES NOT TO TURN ON WHEN I PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION. THE KEY UNLOCKS THE DOORS AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INFORMATION COMES ON. HOWEVER, THE WINDOWS WILL NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN. THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT LIGHT WILL NOT TURN ON AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. INITIALLY, I TRIED MY SPARE KEY FOB (THAT I NEVER USE) AND IT DID TURN THE ENGINE ON AND I DROVE THE CAR AROUND FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES THINKING IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE MOMENT I PARKED MY CAR AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, SAME PROBLEM. IT WOULD NOT START NOW WITH EITHER KEY IN THE IGNITION. APPARENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF OWNERS WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR, ALL WITHIN THIS PAST QUARTER OF 2015. WHAT'S GOING ON?
MY DAUGHTER TOOK MY WIFE'S 2009 MERCEDES C300 TO SCHOOL AND WHEN SHE GOT INTO THE CAR AFTER STOPPING FOR COFFEE IT WOULD NOT START. YOU TURN THE KEY AND NOTHING HAPPENED. VERIFIED THAT THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND CHECKED ALL OF THE SYSTEMS. STILL NOTHING. HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND HAVE IT TAKEN TO OUR REPAIR SHOP. AM BEING TOLD IT IS THE ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK SYSTEM AND WILL COST ALMOST $1000 TO FIX. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. SINCE THIS CAN STRAND A PERSON IT SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. THANK GOODNESS MY DAUGHTER HAD ONLY DRIVEN A FEW BLOCKS AWAY AND STOPPED FOR COFFEE. IT WAS IN A OPEN PARKING LOT, BUT IF IT HAD BEEN IN A "NOT SO GOOD AREA" THAT COULD PUT HER IN JEOPARDY. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE AN ALL TOO FREQUENT, AND VERY EXPENSIVE FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ C300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR 27 DAYS AGO. FRIDAY NIGHT, I OPENED MY GARAGE DOOR AND GOT IN. IT WOULD NOT TURN ON. AFTER GETTING IT INSPECTED, I WAS GIVEN THE NEWS ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I WAS BAFFLED BY HOW MANY PEOPLE WITH IDENTICAL CARS DISHED OUT THOUSANDS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR FROM THE DEALERSHIP. WHAT WAS MOST SURPRISING IS HOW IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT JUST ABOUT 80K MILES, LIKE CLOCKWORK. MY CAR HAS 78K MILES. THIS REPAIR WON'T BE COVERED BY THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY THAT I HAD JUST SPENT THOUSANDS ON. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL YET? THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON, CONSISTENT PROBLEM AMONG THESE CARS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY NEARLY $2,000 JUST BECAUSE MY CAR IS AT 80,000 MILES.
MY CAR ALL OF THE SUDDEN WOULDN'T START. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO JUMP THE CAR, THE BATTERY IS FINE. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF CHANDLER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A STEERING LOCK ELECTRICAL FAULT. THE STEERING LOCK WAS REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $1065.33 (INVOICE #MBCS314273). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
DROVE MY 2009 MERCEDES C300 SPORT TO EMISSIONS STATION FOR TESTING. THE TECH TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IN ORDER TO START/COMPLETE EMISSIONS TESTING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. THE KEY WOULD TURN BUT WOULD NOT START THE VEHICLE. TURNING THE KEY RESULTED IN OPERABLE INTERIOR LIGHTS, RADIO AND THE LOCKS WORKED BUT NOTHING ELSE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER AND, JUST LIKE OTHER OWNERS, THE CAUSE IS A "BAD" STEERING LOCK. COSTS UPWARDS OF $1000 TO FIX, POSSIBLY DOUBLE THAT IF THE IGNITION MODULE ALSO NEEDS REPLACING, WHICH THEY WON'T KNOW UNTIL THEY CAN REPLACE THE STEERING LOCK FIRST. MY CAR HAS 122K MILES, PURCHASED CERTIFIED PRE OWNED. I HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS REGARDING THIS ISSUE SINCE IT SEEMS IT COULD HAVE OCCURRED WHILE I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE A 2009 MERCEDES BENZ C300 85K MILES I HAD THIS CAR FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND I'M UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE .I HAD A COUPLE OF PROBLEMS WITH IT TAIL LIGHT ,SEAT BELT AND NOW THIS ...TWO DAYS AGO I WENT TO A FRIEND HOUSE THERE WAS NO PROBLEM GETTING THERE BUT WHEN I TURNS THE CAR OFF FOR TWO MINS , THE KEY WOULDN'T START THE CAR. WHEN PUT THE KEY IN THE RECEIVER THE CAR READ THE KEY BUT NONE OF THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD COME ON AND WOULDN'T UNLOCK THE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE SHIFT KNOB WHEN A OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR THE CAR WITH TELL ME TO REMOVE THE KEY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND IT CAME OUT TO BE A BAD EIS SWITCH THAT WASN'T READING THE KEY ,IT COST ME $1,670 I DID A RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND IT COME OUT TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR AFTER 70K MILES....THEY SHOULD MAKE A RECALL FOR THIS MATER
FAULTY EIS - VEHICLE WON'T START. VEHICLE PARKED. WENT TO GO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT TO NO AVAIL. STEERING WHEEL IN LOCK POSITION AND TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DISENGAGE FROM PARK. VERY COMMON PROBLEM. SURPRISED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL TO FIX THIS APPARENT PROBLEM.
THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM HAS FAILED AND THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE STARTED. THE STEERING LOCK IS ENGAGED, SO THE STEERING WHEEL CANNOT BE MOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT OCCURRED BUT STRANDED THE OPERATOR. DIAGNOSIS INVOLVES TOWING TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEN IN EXCESS OF $1000 REPAIR BILL. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED FAULT WITH THE EIS MODULE HOWEVER NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKS BY NO FAULT OF DRIVER ONLY DEALERS UNLOCK IT FOR $1112. 00.
STOP AT GROCERY STORE CAME BACK CAR DID NOT START. ITS THE ELECTRIC STEERING DOES NOT WORK IT COST $1350 TO GET FIXED ITS BEEN HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE AND MERCEDES DOES NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP. THANKS!
MY 2009 C300 MERCEDES DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. IT'S GOING TO COST $1,200. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I HAD TO PAY TOWING COST TWICE BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE MY CAR IN THE RESTAURANT PARKING LOT OVER NIGHT. I TOLD THE CAR HOME THEN I HAD TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY.

THERE NEEDS TO AN INQUIRY INTO THE SENSORS IN THE STEERING ON THE C CLASS MERCEDES. I JUST HAD MY SENSOR GO OUT WITH ONLY 30,152 MILES ON IT GO OUT. AS I HAVE TOLD OF THIS EXPERIENCE TO OTHER AND THE SAME STORY AROUND 30,000 MILES THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUES RESULTING IN THOUSAND DOLLARS IN REPAIRS. *TR
AS I RECENTLY RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR MERCEDES BENZ RECALL #14V-177. I WENT UP TO THE NEAREST LOCATION IN FORT WORTH AND THEY SAID I HAD TO WAIT FOR A "SECOND NOTICE" FOR MY TAILLIGHTS TO BE FIXED. I AM DRIVING ON A BAD BRAKE LIGHT FOR 2 MONTHS AND AS I FOLLOW UP WITH THIS DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID IT WOULD DEFINITELY ARRIVE THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER. ITS THE 12TH, NO LETTER, NO FOLLOWUP FROM THESE PEOPLE AND I'M CONCERNED WITH HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE THEY ARE DOING THIS TOO. PLEASE HELP IN ANY WAY AS I HAVE NO LEADS. THANK YOU *TR
