The dashboard is cracking. This causes me concern regarding the airbag and if it will function properly if ever needed. The entire dash has a crack the runs the length left to right and it makes it appear the bottom portion will fall to the floor one day. I started noticing this over the summer. I saw that in Florida there was a class action to fix it. I just think it’s odd because this is an extra car that we no longer drive daily. It stays in a garage out of weather and so it should be perfect. We kept the car for our daughter who is now 16 and will be using it as she starts driving.
Car shuts down while being driven. Need to restart car, later shuts down again.
My 2007 Altima dashboard has been cracking for a few years. The car is parked inside the garage, and during the day while at work, is parked at a parking deck. The dashboard is getting worse over the year at the point pieces of the board are coming off exposing the yellow foam and cracking on areas where the sun don’t reach at. The cracks are all over the dashboard panel and white patches (like board melting) around the glove compartment.
My 2007 Altima dashboard has been melting and cracking for years now. The car is generally parked inside garage during work hours in day light. The deterioration has gotten to the point that glare on the windshield dangerously obstructs the view of the road, especially in sunny weather down in south Florida. The cracks are even in places where no sunlight reaches and causes my cabin to smell from melting dash My dashboard lights have also flickered on and off and gave me warning messages that went away on its own. I have taken my car to mechanic multiple times but they asked to contact manufacturer.
SOMETIMES, THE HORN WON'T SOUND.
NISSAN ALTIMA DASHBOARD CRACKING AND LEAVING CHEMICAL SMELL. CRACKING ADVANCES IN THE SUNLIGHT/HEAT. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH NISSAN ALTIMAS IN THE 2007-2009 RANGE.
THE DASHBOARD IS DISINTEGRATING. EVEN THE SIDES OF THE CONSOLE WHICH ARE NOT IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT ARE CRUMBLING APART. THE DATE OF OCCURRENCE IS A GUESSTIMATE AS I ONLY JUST FOUND THIS SITE. IT HAS BEEN DETERIORATING FOR YEARS.
THE DASH IS MELTING AND GIVING LARGE GLARE IN SUNNY DAYS ITS REALLY STICKY AND QUITE THE EYE SORE. ONLY HELP OFFERED WAS TELLING ME TO INSTALL NEW DASH AT MY EXPENSE OR COVER WHICH WOULD EVENTUALLY STICK SO YOU COULDNT REMOVE TO CLEAN07
THE VEHICLE TAKES OVER 40 MINUTES OF DRIVING TO HAVE THE HEAT BLOWER ACTIVATE ON COLD TEMPERATURES. STARTING AND LETTING THE VEHICLE RUN IDLE FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP THIS SITUATION. HEATER WILL NOT WORK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, CAUSE THE WINDOWS TO FOG UP WHILE DRIVING AND PUTTING THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN A SERIOUS SITUATION IN WHICH THEY CAN EXPERIENCE FROSTBITE FROM THE EXTREME TEMPERATURE, ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THRU THE WINDOWS AND LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE COLD CAUSES THE DRIVER TO LOSE GRIP ON THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE HEATING SYSTEM, SAYING THAT IS TYPICAL FOR NISSANS TO TAKE THAT LONG TO HEAT UP. NO OTHER EXPLANATION PROVIDED OR SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE.
DRIVING AFTER WORK AND NOTICED MY CAR WAS SHAKING WHEN IT WOULD CHANGE GEARS...I TOOK IT NISSAN DEALER BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A WARRANTY FOR CVS TRANSMISSION AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED. I ONLY HAD 118,000 MILES BUT WAS OVER YEAR WARRANTY AND NISSAN TOLD ME IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE TO CHANGE IT BECAUSE IT WAS A CVT TRANSMISSION...SO UPSET I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE IS SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CVT TRANSMISSION I WOULD NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN
NISSAN ALTIMA 2007 4 CYL. THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING IN VARIOUS AREAS. MANY LENGTHY CRACKS WHICH ARE BEGINNING TO OPEN WIDER AND BECOMING LARGER. ALSO THE DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGED FOR 4 YEARS. WOULD BE NICE IF NISSAN WOULD LOOK INTO THIS DEFECT. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE DASHBOARD.
THE INTERIOR DASH AND CENTER CONSOLE IS MELTING AND HAS A HIGH GLARE.
MELTING AND CRACKED DASHBOARD
THE DASH BOARD APPEARS TO BE FALLING APART. IT HAS BECOME SHINY, STICKY, AND HAS MULTIPLE CRACKS THAT CAN BE SEEN ALL OVER THE DASH AND THEY ARE GETTING WORSE WITH TIME. MY VEHICLE IS PARKED IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME. THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SIMPLE WEAR AND TEAR BUT A DEFECT WITH THE MATERIAL USED TO CONSTRUCT THE DASH. THIS IS ULTIMATELY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE GLARE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT TIMES CAN CAUSE YOU TO BE UNABLE TO SEE OUT YOUR FRONT WINDSHIELD.
DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND MELTING.
TO START THIS CAR YOU PRESS THE BRAKE AND PRESS THE START BUTTON. I PRESS THE BRAKE PRESS START AND IT GOES TO ACC INSTEAD OF ON, THEN I PRESS IT TO ON AND IT WONT START. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BEFORE BUT I TRY IT AGAIN AND IT STARTS WITHIN A FEW TRIES. NOW I AM TRYING TO START MY CAR AND IT WON'T START AT ALL. ALL THE LIGHTS ARE ON RADIO WORKS, ETC BUT THE CAR JUST DOESN'T TURN OVER OR TRY TO TURN OVER AT ALL IT JUST SITS IN THE ON POSITION. I READ ONLINE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE A SPARE KEY AND I TRIED THE OTHER KEY (KEYLESS START KEY) AND IT DOES THE SAME THING SO IT IS NOT JUST THE KEY BATTERY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 YEARS AGO AND HAVE ONLY PUT 40000 MILES ON IT. I HAD TO TAKE A TAXI TO SCHOOL AND BACK AND WILL HAVE TO TO WORK UNTIL IT GETS FIXED! *TR
HELP PLEASE! MY 07 ALTIMA DASHBOARD IS CRACKING ON ITS OWN. IT IS ALSO MELTING AND NISSAN WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE GLARE FROM THE SHINY DASH IS HARD TO SEE WHEN DRIVING IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
BRAKE LIGHT IN CAR WENT ON JUST PRIOR TO 25000 MILES, BROUGHT CAR IN FOR SERVICE WAS TOLD IT WAS PROBABLY THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER BECAUSE IT WAS RECALLED IN THE NISSAN SENTRA. RESULT WAS THAT IT WAS THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER, TOLD HAD TO REPAIR DUE TO IT BEING HAZARDOUS. HAD TO PAY OVER $600 FOR A REPAIR TO A PART THAT COMPANY ALREADY KNOWS IS FAULTY.
ON JULY 8, 2009 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH FOR SERVICE AND REQUESTED THEY CHECK THE SUNROOF AS WELL, IT HAD BEEN SQUEAKING WHEN OPERATED - OPENING AND CLOSING. NISSAN LUBED THE TRACK. ON MARCH 19, 2010 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH FOR SERVICE AND REQUESTED THEY CHECK THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF, SUNROOF STILL SQUEAKING OFF AND ON WHEN OPERATED - OPENING AND CLOSING. NISSAN LUBED WINDOWS FOR NOISE. JUNE 2011 TOOK VEHICLE INTO NISSAN NORTH BECAUSE SUNROOF MADE AND AWFUL NOISE AND STOPPED WORKING IN MID-CLOSE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN MANUALLY HAD TO CLOSE THE SUNROOF.
I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A SAFETY CONCERN I HAVE WITH MY 2007 NISSAN ALTIMA HYBRID. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH TCS AND VDC. ON DECEMBER 13, 2007 WE GOT APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES OF SNOW DURING THE DAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK. ON MY WAY HOME I APPROACHED SWITZER HILL ROAD AND SAW THAT IT HAD BEEN SANDED SO I TURNED AND STARTED UP THE HILL. APPROXIMATELY 40 YARDS UP THE HILL THE TCS LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STOPPED. THE FRONT WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. I WAS FORCED TO TURN AROUND ON THE HILL AND COME BACK DOWN. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS COMING DOWN THE HILL AT THAT TIME OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS FOR MY SELF AND/OR OTHERS. THE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR THE VEHICLE REFERS TO AN OFF SWITCH FOR BOTH THE TCS AND VDC SYSTEMS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THE MANUFACTURE HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE SYSTEM MAY NEED TO BE TURNED OFF. MY VEHICLE HAS NEITHER SWITCH INSTALLED SO I AM UNABLE TO TURN OFF EITHER SYSTEM IN THE EVENT I AM IN HEAVY SNOW OR MUD. THE NON HYBRID VERSION OF THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SWITCH INSTALLED AS PER THE OWNER'S MANUAL. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE DEALER AND NISSAN BOTH IN WRITING AND ON THE PHONE. THEY HAVE STATED THAT THE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY BECAUSE IT DOES APPLY BRAKE TO THE WHEEL THAT IS SLIPPING, AND ALSO REDUCE POWER FROM THE ENGINE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE SYSTEM WORKS TOO WELL. THE VEHICLE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND STRAND THE OPERATOR. WITH OUT THE OFF SWITCH THERE IS NO WAY TO MOVE A STUCK VEHICLE. THE REASON I WAS GIVEN FOR THE SWITCH HAVING NOT BEEN INSTALL IS THAT THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT CAUSE THE BATTERY TO BE DISCHARGED. AS PER THE MANUAL THE SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY TURNS BACK ON WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. NISSAN ONLY SELLS THE HYBRID IN A LIMITED NUMBER OF STATES. MOST OF WHICH ARE IN THE NORTHEAST WHERE IT DOES SNOW. *TR
