2008 Nissan Altima UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Had to have AC system repaired three times for the same issue. Evaporator/Heater Core needed to be replaced twice along with other repairs to AC system. Nissan would not back up evaporator repair.

I bought this used from a private owner, on consignment at a used car lot Pinellas County FL May 2020. The previous owner installed a dashboard mat to cover up the melting, cracking dashboard, after 5 years of ownership, the dashboard is in serious degraded condition worse when I purchased it. I was unaware of the class action lawsuit 2017 over the safety concerns. Obvious resale value will be an issue as well. I continue to maintain this vehicle with 176,000 miles. I wanted to add my vehicle to the NHTSA complaint against Nissan for this issue and the loss of value upon resale. That would be great if NHTSA gets Nissan to issue nation wide recall, but given Nissan dire financial issues, it's unlikely they will recall for this issue

The dashboard is sticky and melted down. Also has cracks from the heat.

Dashboard material defective melted sticky and very reflective. No idea how toxic could be.

The dash is melting from the heat and is very sticky. It’s really unsafe due to the glare that affects the driver vision. It has already caused me to have one near miss when a tractor pulled into road and I was unable to see him until the last second. Then I jerked the steering missing the tractor.

The dashboard in my 2008 Nissan Altima has been melting, cracking and deteriorating. When it is warm outside, It’s sticky to the touch and becomes glossy causing a major glare on my windshield plus, if I graze a finger nail across it when wiping it for dust or cleaning the windshield it comes apart showing nicks and indentations. I looked this up on the web today and apparently there was a class action lawsuit filed against Nissan that was settled in 2017 for 2008 and 2009 models but on for those folks living in Florida. I live in North Carolina. I started to notice this in 2016 but didn’t give it much thought because the car is garage kept and I have a company car so I only drive this vehicle now sparingly (mainly on weekends). You can’t see how sticky it is by the photos so I took my car registration paper and stuck it to the dash. The dash when warm has a “sticky note” type feel to it. The hotter it gets the more glazed and sticky the dashboard becomes. The dashboard is melting. It's sticky and shinny. On sunny days it causes a glare on the windshield making it hard to see out of it.

Dash board melting , becomes sticky and puts off a severe glare in the windshield. Class action lawsuit in Florida identified this as a design issue and made Nissan responsible due to dashboard melting under heat from sun.

Dashboard is cracking, sticky, gooey and melting in places

The Dashboard is melting and creates a glare on the windshield, making it difficult and dangerous when driving on a sunny day. The glare is such that anyone or thing in front of the vehicle is very hard to see.

An incident has not occurred yet, thankfully. The dashboard in my 2008 Nissan Altima is melting and causes a glare on the dash and a horrible smell in my car. This is a safety concern not only for myself but for everyone. When the sun hits the dash and causes a glare, the glare can impair my vision on the road. I had a close call and do not want another close call.

THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA IS STICKY. THERE IS A SUBSTANCE SEEPING OUT FROM THE SEAMS IN THE DASHBOARD THAT CAN NOT BE REMOVED. IT CREATES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING AND GETS WORSE IN THE HOT SUNNY WEATHER.

THE TRANSMISSION IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS

MELTING DASHBOARD, VERY STICKY, EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT AND THE TOP LAYER (VINYL?) THAT IS MELTING COMES UP WHEN SOMETHING STICKS TO IT AND IS REMOVED. THE DASH IS VERY SHINY, CAUSING EXTREME GLARE ON WINDSHIELD. GLARE VERY BAD, LOWERS VISIBILITY, DANGEROUS. THE HOTTER THE DAYS, THE STICKIER, MORE SHINY THIS GETS. EVEN WHEN PUTTING UP A SUNSHADE, THE DASH GETS WORSE AND WORSE. PHOTO TAKEN ON 9/7/2020 ATTACHED SHOWS HOW BAD GLARE IS.

THE DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO MELT. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST DIRTY, BUT IN FACT, WHEN I TRIED CLEANING IT, A STICKY GLUE TYPE SUBSTANCE CAME UP. THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE SHINY GLARE SHINES ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT HARD TO SEE. I DID A BASIC SEARCH ON THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE.

TOP OF DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTING. IT CREATES A BAD GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE SHINY NATURE OF THE AREAS WHERE THE DASHBOARD HAS DETERIORATED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING! I CAN'T BE THE ONLY 2008 ALTIMA OWNER IN NY WITH THIS ISSUE. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS SETTLED A FEW YEARS AGO IN FLORIDA FOR THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THIS SAME CAR. I NEED THIS PIECE REPLACED AND THE COST TO BE COVERED BY NISSAN BECAUSE THEY INSTALLED MATERIALS THAT ARE UNSAFE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HOLD UP.

WHEN I GET INTO THE CAR AND PUSH THE START BUTTON, THE CAR TURNS ON BUT THE READY IS NOT SIGNALING AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE. THE CAR WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY THE DAY BEFORE AND NOW THE CAR WON'T MOVE. THERE ALSO A WEIRD BUZZING TYPE SOUND WHEN I PRESS THE BREAK. *TR

STICKY DASHBOARD IS CAUSING SEEING INVISIBILITY

THE DASHBOARD IN MY NISSAN ALTIMA 2008 IS MELTING, CRACKING AND VERY STICKY WITH A BRIGHT SHINING GLARE THAT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE.

MY CAR HAS A STICKY,CLEAR SUBSTANCE ALL OVER IT FROM WHERE THE VENTS ARE TO THE WINDSHIELD. IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT CAUSES A GLARE AND WHEN THE SUN IS OUT ESPECIALLY IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO SEE. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET IT OFF AND NOTHING IS WORKING. I DIDN'T SPILL ANYTHING ON IT EITHER FOR IT TO BE THIS WAY. IT JUST STARTED HAPPENING.
