I AM WRITING AS A FOLLOW UP TO A NEWS ARTICLE OUT TODAY THAT TALKS ABOUT HOW CRACKS IN FORD EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE MAKING VEHICLE OWNERS/DRIVERS/PASSENGERS SICK THROUGH POISONING GASES ENTERING THE CABIN: HTTPS://WWW.BLOOMBERG.COM/GRAPHICS/2019-FORD-EXPLORER-OWNERS-SAY-SUVS-MAKING-THEM-SICK/ THIS IS NOT THE ONLY VEHICLE WITH THIS VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. THERE ARE VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN ARMADA/TITAN EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACKING AND EMITTING TOXIC GASES, FROM 2004 ON UP. THESE VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH A 5.4L ENGINE, ARE HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CRACKING AND EXHAUSTING GAS. THIS EXHAUST GAS CAN EASILY MAKE IT'S WAY INTO THE VEHICLE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, AND CAUSE SICKNESS, DIZZINESS, NAUSEA, OR POSSIBLY EVEN DEATH FROM CO2 POISONING. THE PROBLEM SO BAD ON THESE VEHICLES, THAT AFTERMARKET COMPANIES HAVE FOR MANY YEARS NOW STARTED MAKING EXHAUST MANIFOLDS THAT HAVE REINFORCEMENTS WELDED ONTO THE AREAS OF THE STOCK MANIFOLD THAT REGULARLY INCUR THESE CRACKS. THE JOB IS EXTENSIVE, HOWEVER, AND MANY VEHICLE OWNERS CANNOT AFFORD THESE REPAIRS. MANY VEHICLE OWNERS LIKELY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS MAKING THEM SICK. THE RADIATOR RELEASED TRANSMISSION FLUID ALL OVER MY DRIVEWAY, IT WAS MIXED WITH THE COOLANT AND NOW MY GEARS ARE STRIPPED. THERE WERE RECALLS ABOUT THIS ON THE 2005-2010 ARMADAS BUT WHEN I EVEN WENT TO KEY IN THE TYPE OF VEHICLE I HAVE, IT ISNT RECOGNIZED. THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY CAR, PLEASE RESEARCH.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, BUT A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.

10/28/09 RIGHT MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER CRACKED BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH RUNNERS AT 56K, 9/28/10 LEFT SIDE CRACKED AT 67K. BOTH REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY. 03/16, 135K KEPT COMPLAINING OF EXHAUST IN CAB AND BEING LIGHT HEADED. BROUGHT TO MECHANIC, RIGHT SIDE IS CRACKED AGAIN! I CARE FOR AND TRANSPORT OUR 2 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WHILE OUR SON IS IN THE MILITARY AND CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ISN'T CONSIDERED A MANUFACTURER DEFECT DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE. HAVE ALWAYS HAD NISSAN, LOVE TO GET ANOTHER ONE BUT NOT IF NISSAN DOESN'T BACK THEIR PRODUCT.

CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD IDENTIFIED. DEALER TOOK 2 MONTHS AFTER REQUESTING A TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP (200 MILES RT) TO DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OVER 8 YEARS NEW. BEEN CRACKED FOR YEARS AND THEY KNEW ITS AGE BEFORE REQUESTING AN INSPECTION. WE WERE TOLD BY DEALERSHIP TO BE WARY OF EXHAUST LEAKING INTO THE CABIN. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY FAMILY AT APPROX. 70 MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN INSTANTANEOUSLY. THIS WAS A VERY POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION, WITH CARS GOING BY ALL AROUND US AT 70+ MPH. AFTER WE STOPPED, I TRIED STARTING THE ENGINE AGAIN A NUMBER OF TIMES, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR CAME 10 MINUTES LATER, & HE SAID TRY IT ONE MORE TIME. I DID, & IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY, & I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF THE FREEWAY. I DROVE IT ON SURFACE STREETS TO GET HOME FROM THERE, & THEN IT DIED ONE MORE TIME. HOWEVER, THIS TIME IT STARTED UP AGAIN & WE REACHED HOME. I TOOK IT TOO A VERY EXPERIENCED MECHANIC I USE, & HE COULD FIND NOTHING. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER,, & THEY COULD FIND NOTHING. 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. RIGHT EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED. VEHICLE PURCHASED 08/30/10 WITH 75,000 MILES. AT ABELOFF NISSAN IN BARTONSVILLE, PA. 09/07/2010 FOR BACK UP SENSOR AND CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT. NO OTHER ISSUES CITED. 03.08.2011, MILES: 83696 BACK AT ABELOFF NISSAN FOR ECM RELAY SAFETY RECALL. INSPECTION DONE AT THAT TIME. NO EXHAUST LEAKS CITED. 08/16/2011, MILES: 89312, VEHICLE AT LOCAL MECHANIC FOR STATE YEARLY INSPECTION. RIGHT EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKED, LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN CRACKED FOR A LONG TIME. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IN 5616 MILES, THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKING APART. RESEARCH ONLINE HAS SHOWN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN TITAN/ARMADA EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. I WOULD LIKE BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT MANIFOLDS REPLACED BY NISSAN AT NO COST. *KB

BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS FAILED TWICE. AT 40,000 MILES AND 80,000 MILES. NISSAN REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 40K WITH SAME DEFECTIVE MANIFOLDS WHICH FAILED AGAIN AT 80K. NISSAN OFFERED TO REPLACE WITH SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR A TOTAL OF $2400.00. LEAKS WEREN'T DISCOVERED TILL 83K MILES. I NOW OWN A VEHICLE THAT HAS CONSISTENTLY LEAKED CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE PASSEGER CABIN. MY SPOUSE IS WONDERING IF THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF MY SIX YEAR OLD'S BRAIN CANCER WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED 4 YEARS AGO WHEN THE MANIFOLDS WERE LEAKING FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN HER DAILY DRIVER SINCE NEW. IT SEEMS THAT NISSAN ARMADA AND TITAN VEHICLES HAVE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS THAT FAIL BETWEEN 30/40K AND NISSAN REPLACES WITH SAME DEFECTIVE PART. *KB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED WITH FORCE REPEATEDLY AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE FLAMES ERUPTING UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE COLLISION CENTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE FAILED RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I WAS DRIVING ON WEDNESDAY THE 19, 2009. MY TRUCK STALLED ON A MAJOR ROAD. I WAS ALMOST REARENDED WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. COULD NOT PULL CAR OFF TO SIDE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. FOUND OUT THAT MY IPDM HAD GONE OUT AND FLOODED MY ENGINE WITH GAS. TALKED TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP THEY ARE BACK-ORDERED 250 UNITS OF THESE IPDM'S. SAID THEY HAVE 10-15 TRUCKS IN EACH WEEK. LOOKED AT INTERNET IT IS FLOODED WITH CASES JUST LIKE MINE. VERY SCARY MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. IT WAS A EASY FIX ONCE WE GOT NEW PART. SOMETHING NEED TO BE DONE NOT SAFE. *TR

MY PROBLEM STARTED AROUND 12/5/08 WHEN MY TRUCK DIED UNEXPECTEDLY. IT RESTARTED THEN LATER MORE OF THE SAME ON THE SAME VOYAGE. LOCAL NISSAN WAS CONTACTED THAT DAY AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SET FOR 12/15/08. AT THAT APPOINTMENT IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE SECURITY FUNCTION AND WAS RESET AND KEY WAS REPROGRAMMED. THEY HAD NOTED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MILEAGE WAS 81,470, 1470 MILES OVER THE FEDERAL WARRANTY. MY MILEAGE WAS ARGUABLY UNDER THE 80,000 WARRANTY LIMIT WHEN THE APPOINTMENT WAS MADE A WEEK PRIOR. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED. THIS TIME IT IS ADDED WITH POWER LOSS OF MASS PROPORTION ON AND OFF AGAIN. AGAIN BACK TO NISSAN WERE THEY ARE POINTING AT THE MANIFOLDS. OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS HAVE HAD THE IPDM, BCM, ECM, MANIFOLDS, AND THE KEY REPROGRAMMED AND THE DEALERSHIPS STILL CANT FIND THERE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ACKNOWLEDGES MY CONCERN THAT THIS ISN?T THE PART CAUSING THE INTERMITTENT ISSUES. NISSAN REALIZED THE PROBLEM WITH ITS MANIFOLDS AND CORRECTED BY MAKING THEM ?BEEFER? AND ADDING A SUPPORT BRACE IN LATER PRODUCTION RUNS. I HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM THROUGH NISSANS CONSUMER SERVICES, BUT WAS DENIED ASSISTANCE (CASE #6392768). THE INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH NISSAN TRUCK CUSTOMERS WHOSE MANIFOLDS HAVE FAILED IN THE SAME EXACT PLACES ON THE PART DURING THE PRODUCTION RUN DATE. NISSAN HAS EVEN WARRANTED THIS PART TO OTHER CUSTOMERS AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THE WARRANTY BUT WHY NOT ME? THERE SUGGESTING ?STARTING? WITH THE MANIFOLDS @ $2400 ESTIMATE I CAN?T AFFORD, AND IF THAT DOESN?T FIX THE PROBLEM IM IN THE SAME BOAT AS THE OTHER? THROW PARTS YOU CANT AFFORD AT IT? CROWD. I BOUGHT THERE FLAGSHIP VEHICLE, EXPECTING UTMOST SERVICE UNLIKE THERE COUNTERPARTS.
