THE CAR SHUTS DOWN IN THE MEST OF DRIVING OR A THE STOP SIGN. SOME TIMES IT WILL CRANK BACK UP AND SOME TIMES IT WILL NOT .SO NOW IT WILL NOT CRACK BACK UP.
I OWN A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA WORST CAR I EVER OWNED AND WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY ANOTHER NISSAN PRODUCT. I THINK NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE OF THE CAR JERKING AND SUDDENLY REVS FOR NO APPARENT REASON AFTER ABOUT 90K OR SO MILES THE CAR IS FAIRLY USELESS I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE MINES ANYMORE UNTIL I SHELL OUT 4K TO GET IT FIXED. WHENEVER I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT JUST JERKS REAL HARD TO THE POINT WHERE I FEEL AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. MY WIFE ACTUALLY GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE JUST SUDDENLY REVS FORWARD. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT DOES THIS BUT ALL OWNERS THAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO SAID THE SAME THING.
TIMING CHAIN KIT SLIPPING/ LOUD NOISES. CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE I AM SCARED IT WILL FAIL ON ME WHILE DRIVING. REALLY EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINTAINED VERY WELL. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AT 115000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EVENTUALLY START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO JOLT FORWARD WHEN SWITCHING GEARS AND STALL. THE TCS ENGINE SLIP INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SOME SERVICE AND WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS GOING TO COST OVER $2000.00 FOR THE WORK. I HAVE INVESTIGATED THIS AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. NISSAN HAS ISSUED AS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM. IT APPEARS A PLASTIC PART WAS USED ON THE TIMING CHAIN AND IT WEARS PREMATURELY. I SPOKE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND LEARNED THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE GOOD FOR AT LEAST 100000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN THAT IF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED, IT COULD RESULT IN MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, IF THE TIMING CHAIN FAILS, THE VEHICLE COULD BE REAR-ENDED SINCE THE FAILURE MAKES THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. *TR
RATTLING SOUND ON FRONT RIDE SIDE OF VEHICLE. TOOK TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON 12/11/14 TO HAVE ASSESSED. WAS CONFIRMED THAT IT IS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONING SYSTEM. IT WILL COST $2000 IN LABOR ALONE TO REMOVE ENGINE AND COMPONENTS TO ACCESS, PARTS WILL BE ANYWHERE FOR $200-$2000. THE TIMING CHAIN TENSION SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND PRONE TO PREMATURE FAILURE. DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENS BUT RECOMMENDED I DO NOT DRIVE UNTIL CAN BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE FACT THAT IF THE TIMING LOSES TIME IT WILL BLOW MY MOTOR. I FEEL AS THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED TO CONSUMERS. THE VEHICLE IS NOT YET PAID OFF AND WILL REQUIRE $2000-4000 IN REPAIRS TO BE SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
IN NEIGHBOR DRIVING 30, CAR JUMPS AND MOTOR IDLES. HAS JUMPED INTO REVERSE WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT TO DRIVE. WHILE PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE TRYING PARK, THE CAR JUMPS INSTEAD OF DRIVING. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT WHILE ACCELERATING, CAR JUMPS THREE TIMES BEFORE TAKING OFF TO ACTUALLY DRIVE. CAR REFUSED TO GO INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONSUME LARGE QUANTITIES OF OIL ABNORMALLY, WHICH THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN IMPROPER PERFORMANCE OF THE PISTON RINGS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS STORING THE OIL WHICH COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE OR ENGINE DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V223000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 113,680.
MY CAR STARTED WITH A RATTLING NOISE HEARD FROM INSIDE THE CABIN AT 56,000 MILES,, THE NOISE WOULD COME AND GO. THEN AT 77,000 MILES SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY GOES OUT, IT STARTS MAKING A WHINING NOISE,, SIMILAR TO POWER STEERING WHEN FLUID IS LOW,, WELL IT TURNS OUT ITS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER,, MADE UP OF PLASTIC AND THE COST OF REPAIR IS 1200.00 DOLLARS!!, I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND IM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS GONE THRU THIS ON NISSAN VEHICLES, EVEN CARS FROM 1997 TO PRESENT HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM RELATED TO THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS GOING BAD RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES,, THIS HAS TO BE A RECALL BUT NISSAN WONT ADMIT IT, IM STARTING TO GET VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN, HOPEFULLY OTHER NISSAN OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM COMPLAIN HERE,, VERY DISAPPOINTED IN NISSAN. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE YET THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ABNORMALLY JERK INTO THE NEXT LOWEST GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEED OF A NEW OXYGEN SENSOR AND A TURBINE REVOLUTION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WITH BOTH OF THE SENSORS YET THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO JERK EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE MOTOR MOUNTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,080 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
CAR MAKING WHINE/BUZZ SOUND. BEGAN QUIETLY ABOUT 10G MILES AGO BUT HAS GOTTEN MUCH LOUDER PAST 1G MILES. TALKED TO SERVICE AT DEALER. ADVISED TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. THEY HAVE FIXED NUMEROUS VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM. $2400 TO FIX AT DEALER. *TR
ON THURSDAY, MAY 20TH OUR 2006 NISSAN MAXIMA QUIT RUNNING. THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 75MPH ON A FREEWAY OVERPASS. WITHIN 60 SECONDS OF THE LIGHT COMING ON THE ENGINE STARTING MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE. I WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE FREEWAY BEFORE IT QUIT RUNNING. IN THE CAR WERE ME (THE DRIVER), MY HUSBAND (FRONT PASSENGER SEAT) AND OUR 8 MONTH OLD NIECE (STRAPPED IN A REAR FACING CARSEAT). CAR WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE THEY STATE THEY BELIEVE THE OIL PUMP IS DEFECTIVE. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. NO PREVIOUS ENGINE ISSUES OR REPAIRS HAVE BEEN NOTICED. AT THIS POINT, NISSAN IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
CAR HAS A CONSISTENT SULFUR/ROTTEN EGGS SMELL FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM OCCURS AT LEAST 8 OUT OF 10 TIMES DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SMELL IS DISGUSTING AND I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS CAUSING ME AND MY PASSENGERS HEALTH PROBLEMS. HE IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. THE CONTACT CALLED SEVERAL DEALERS, BUT WAS STILL UNSUCCESSFUL IN HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
