this is the second transmission i have put in this.. these cvt's are complete garbage and nissan is aware of it. Stand behind your product for once and replace this transmission on your dime. Will drive perfect sometimes and then randomly 3k-5k rpms and wont shift. sometimes i can shut it off and restart it and it will work fine again. sometimes it wont and i have to drive around with excessively high rpms. Also what is this annoying air suction noise i hear under throttle, sounds like an intake or blow off valve. there are zero vaccum leaks,
TRANSFER CASE CRACKED IN HALF , LEAKING
HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AT COST OF $5012.91 AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT WARRANTY IS 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES JUST LIKE AN OFF-THE-SHELF CAR PART.
CODES P1778 (SEP MOTOR FUNCTION) AND P00845 (TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE) FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSION. IN RESEARCHING THESE, I FOUND MANY COMPLAINT TRAILS CONCERNING THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND VARIOUS RELATED CODES. NISSAN'S ANSWER IS ALWAYS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT HIGH COSTS TO OWNER. MINE CONTINUES TO RUN BUT IN A KIND OF CRIPPLED MODE CALLED "SAFE MODE" THAT IS AN ATTEMPT TO REDUCE MAJOR TRANSMISSION DAMAGES. CODES OCCURRED DURING DRIVING ON SIDE STREETS UNDER 45 MPH. VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE USED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS THE "SAFE MODE" LIMITS RPM AND SPEED.
JATCO CVT, A KNOWN ISSUE BY NISSAN. IT BURNS AND LEAKS OIL PUTTING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AT RISK OF FAILURE.
CVT NEEDS REPLACEMENT! TIME TO STAND BY NISSAN PRODUCTS AND CUSTOMERS. CODES ARE ALL TRANSMISSION RELATED, P0774, P0840, P0845, P1778. VIN [XXX]. THEY ARE HIDING BEHIND 10 YR OR 120,000 MILE WALL. 06 MURANO HAS 94,000 MILES. BEING PUNISHED FOR DRIVING LESS THAN 8,000 MILES PER YEAR. THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, IT IS A "DO NOT DRIVE" SITUATION. PUBLIC BOARDS ARE FULL OF CVT FAILURES AND NISSAN DODGING ITS CUSTOMERS. MY CVT TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN I FIRST START TO DRIVE (CANNOT GO OVER 20 MILES AN HOUR.) AFTER WARMING UP IT STARTS TO RESPOND. WHEN DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY YOU CAN FEEL THE TRANSMISSION SLIP AND THE CAR LAGS/LUNGES. NISSAN REPAIR CANNOT GET AN "ERROR CODE" FROM THEIR MACHINE WHEN TESTING BUT ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM. THEY REFUSE TO SERVICE THE CAR UNTIL IT CODES. NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE.
NISSAN HAS REPLACED THREE TRANSMISSIONS IN OUR CAR AND NOW THE FOURTH ONE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THEY ARE TELLING US TO BAD AND THEY'RE NOT RESPONSIBLE WE TRAVEL DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR RACKS OUT WE HAVE TO PULL IT OVER WAIT FOR A BIT AND RESTART IT THEN IT WILL RUN NISSAN TOLD US THAT THIS TRANSMISSION WAS NEW AND IT'S DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE OTHER TRANSMISSIONS WERE DOING NISSAN SAYS THEY ONLY WARRANTY THIS TRANSMISSION FOR 12000 MILES THIS HAS ABOUT 25000 ON IT THIS IS SO DANGEROUS WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS I'VE BEEN TOLD A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THANK YOU
IMMEDIATELY AFTER I HAD THE CAT FLUID FLUSHED/REPLACED AT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER, THERE WOULD BE A SMELL OF BURNING LIQUID FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. USUALLY THE SMELL IS STRONGER WHEN COMING TO A STOP FROM MOVING
TRANSMITION WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS. ACCORDING TO NISSAN DEALER VEHICLE NEEDS TRANSIMITION REPLACED. NISSAN CORP. WILL NOT ADMIT PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE TRANSMITION AT MY EXPENSE.
DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN I HEARD A BIG BANG. THOUGHT MY TIRE BLEW OUT. THEN THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A CONTINUOUS FLAPPING SOUND. AT ONE POINT IT MADE MY TRANSMISSION SHIFT, TO THE POINT THAT IT MADE THE CAR JUMP LIKE IF I GOT HIT MY A CAR IN THE REAR. HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC TO FIND OUT IT WAS MY TRANSFER CASE. *TR
I'VE HAD A PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED MANY TIMES BY FELLOW MURANO OWNERS. AFTER DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THEN SLOWING WAY DOWN FOR TRAFFIC OR WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY THE THROTTLE BECOMES VERY UNRESPONSIVE. IT LAGS AND THEN SURGES. THIS PROBLEM WAS APPARENT DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS LAST YEAR. THIS ALSO OCCURS OCCASIONALLY IN CITY TRAFFIC, WHEN I AM SLOWING TO A STOP NEAR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. (FAIL SAFE MODE?) RECYCLING THE IGNITION FIXES THE PROBLEM, AT LEAST FOR THE SHORT TERM. I HAVE READ THAT THIS MAY BE A RESULT OF THE PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN TWO YEARS AGO AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER, BUT THE NISSAN DEALER THAT SERVICES MY CAR HAS NOT INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE DETECTED ANY PROBLEM OTHER THAN THE TRANSFER CASE SEALS ARE BEGINNING TO GIVE OUT AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. *TR

I TRIED TO PARK MY CAR IN A PARKING. IT WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK; IT WOULD GO NO FURTHER THAN NEUTRAL GEAR. AS A RESULT, BECAUSE I COULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE I HAD TO DRIVE OVER A MEDIAN TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT. I SUBSEQUENTLY DISCOVERED THAT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ARE ENDEMIC WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM MY SONS SCHOOL IN AFTERNOON RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN THERE WAS A VERY LOUD CRACKING SOUND AND THE CAR WAS JERKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 10 MILES AN HOUR IN A 45 ZONE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE INTO SAFE HAVEN. IN MY RESEARCH THIS IS A DEFECT OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION FOR NISSAN AND I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF SOMEONE WHO IS LESS EXPERIENCED OR IN AN EVEN MORE UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT WHEN THIS HAPPENS TO THEM! *TR
ON 12/10/12 I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 15MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING LOUD CLUNKING NOISES, BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED IT AND SAID THEY BELIEVED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSFER CASE OR TRANSMISSION WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. NISSAN IS SAYING THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAS NO WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THAT IT FAILS. WHEN ASKED WHY IT FAILED THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT NISSAN DOESN'T ALLOW THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE JUST TO REPLACE IT BUT UNFORTUNATELY AT MY COST OF $3500 WHY SHOULD I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS IF THEY KNOW ITS AN ISSUE AND CAN NOT GUARANTY THAT IT WON'T FAIL AGAIN! I CAN NOT AFFORD NOT SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR NISSANS FAILURE! THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AND NISSAN NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT WITH THE CONSUMER. *TR
TRANSFER CASE BROKE DOWN 3 DAYS AFTER USED PURCHASE. WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER IT, BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING FROM A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND THEN COULD NOT BE MOVED. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DRAINING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PERSONAL MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A HOSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION HAD BECOME BRITTLE AND CRACKED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO REPORTED THAT THERE TWO CLAMPS ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM THAT WERE RUSTED AND FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 51,100.
RECENTLY MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO STARTED MAKING GRINDING NOISES WHEN GOING UP HILLS AND TURNING CORNERS. AFTER TAKING IT TO A FEW SHOPS WHO SAID IT MIGHT BE THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD ISSUES, I WENT AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEIR DIAGNOSIS WAS A ELECTRONIC COUPLER ASSEMBLY FAILURE WHICH HAS TO DO WITH MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THE CAR IS NOT BALANCING THE LOAD PROPERLY AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THERE IS A 2 MONTH WAITING LIST FOR THIS PART BECAUSE IT HAS GONE BAD IN SO MANY NISSAN VEHICLES. YET THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL AND NO EXTENDED WARRANTY PUT ON IT. THE VEHICLE IS SAID TO BE RELATIVELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE BUT THEY ARE MONTHS OUT ON GETTING PARTS IN FOR IT TO BE FIXED. *JS

THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM BASICALLY TOLD ME I AM OUTTA LUCK BECAUSE THE WARRANTY IS UP. I DID MY RESEARCH AND THE TRANSFER CASE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE AWD VEHICLES. I WAS ABOUT TO PARK THE 2006 MURANO (SL, AWD), ABOUT 3 YARDS FROM REACHING THE SPOT. THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD AND HIT THE CONCRETE WALL HARD, DAMAGING THE FRONT BUMPER - I COULD NOT REACT TO BRAKE THE CAR IN TIME. IT'S RATHER SCARY! *TR
