On August 12 2023 on a trip to hershey PA my rogue felt like she was barely stuttering. I was passenger at the time, asked the driver if they felt that and if it was the car or the road because it felt almost like vibrations on uneven road. Then the rpm's dropped at highway speed like it needed to downshift, paused just above 2k and popped back up. Minutes later the transmission light came on. It continued to happen on and off on the way home and to the airport the following day. I parked her for a week until could get her to the garage (she moved less than 20 miles in that week). Taking her to winchester, the stutter became more "vibrant" and distinct happening no less than 12 times in 35 miles. I've never had issues previous to Aug 12. The shop said transmission failure. When I brought up the history of cvt issues and asked for additional warranty on the repair (beyond the 12 mos they quoted) . Obviously this is a known issue, the dealer makinge feel as if they are trying to ignore it is frustrating.

During highway driving speeds vehicle will suddenly lose power and slow down. Pressing accelerator pedal increases RPM but not the speed. With cruise control engaged vehicle will suddenly and abruptly slow down with RPMs climbing to 4000. I fear that I will be hit from behind because of suddenly slowing down. Also unable to pass vehicles due to loss of power.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate and started to jerk and hesitate. The contact stated that the RPM raised quickly, and the speedometer failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact parked at a nearby gas station for an hour before continuing to drive to her destination however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was diagnosed with needing the transmission to be replaced. The mechanic provided an oil change on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and continued to experience the failure. The contact had another independent mechanic to inspect the vehicle at the residence and was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.

Driving home on the highway my car begin to rev high, but lose speed, then again when I went to pass in the passing lane, I pulled over for about 5mins, then proceeded to drive, about 2 mins in it started doing it again, but this time it made noises, and was vibrating/shuddering as if something was in the gears, I pulled over and got roadside assistance which in-turn led to the towing of my car to a safe location. once off the flatbed, I went to park my car, it did all the noises and revving once again, but as I placed it in park there was fast clicking sound and the car rolled back (while in park), I then applied the brakes harder then released again, and it began to roll again... once again I applied the brakes, as well as the parking brake and it remained stationary.

While driving on a major highway, my newly licensed 16-year-old son experienced shuddering, jerking (slight at first, but progressively worse) and failure to take off from a traffic light. He turned on the emergency flashing lights to alert other drivers, and he was able to take off about 5 seconds later, but the RPMs raced sporadically and acceleration stopped working. He drifted into a left turn lane and prayed he would make it across two lanes of active traffic without stopping. My independent service center and our closest dealer confirmed diagnosis (transmission replacement needed) and I had to have it towed to the dealer through my insurance company. NO WARNING LAMPS OR MESSAGES APPEARED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. Nissan was unwilling to provide any financial assistance or goodwill toward the necessary transmission replacement, although this is a known defect in CVT transmissions. Their only action has been service bulletins and a settlement for an extra 24,000 miles beyond the original 60,000. I am fortunate my son was not a casualty of this poor craftsmanship, but I guess since no one has died yet, Nissan doesn't have to do the right thing and recall these faulty transmissions. Poor customer service and poor vehicles. This is my fourth Nissan, and two of them have had transmission issues. I will NEVER buy another. My family is too valuable to risk in one of these experiments.

Around 60k miles, the car started intermittently having a significant delay from the point when the accelerator was pressed and car moved. Often, once car started accelerating it went much faster than anticipated. Sometimes the car had a jerking motion mostly when traveling up a hill. I reported it to the dealership but it was to be deemed no trouble found. The rep did indicate that what I was describing sounded like a common transmission issue, but I am already past warranty and recommended just keeping an eye on it. Over time it progressively became more frequent. It failed completely at 96k miles with i's last run that took around 5 seconds from accelerator was pressed to the car moving. At which point, the car jutted out into traffic but was unable to accelerate. These problems have caused potential accidents where I could have rear-ended someone else because of the sudden fast movement after a delay. Or in the case of the last run (which incident is being reported), cars behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting me because I was unable to get car moving at the traffic's speed. The check engine light came on after the fact, but there were never any warning lamps or messages related to the transmission prior to the incident and because of this the dealership was unable to discuss with manufacturer early on about a warranty exception.

The check engine light was coming on and our mechanic assessed that the "transmission is slipping". He believed it was under warranty and told us to take it to the Nissan dealer. Nissan confirmed that the transmission/cvt needed replacement; however it was no longer under warranty. In Stringer v. Nissan North America, a settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit alleging that the CVT transmissions in Rogues from 2014 - 2018 were faulty. Nissan admitted no wrongdoing, but extended the warranty for replacement to 84,000 miles. My Nissan has 87,000 miles and both the local and National Nissan organizations refused to fix the problem. The problem with my car mirrors what the complaint in the class action lawsuit entails: there are severe delays when trying to accelerate and the engine revs. Both Nissan and our mechanic confirmed the problem. Both the local and national Nissan confirmed the issue with CVT, but said that our mileage made us ineligible. The problem did not start for us until last month when my car was already over 84,000 miles. I noticed the slow acceleration and revving noise in August, but my car had been inspected in July and our longtime mechanic found no issues. The engine malfunction light did not go on until Labor Day weekend 2022 when we had travelled out of state. I travel 54 miles, many of which are on the highway, each direction to work and I am extremely concerned for my safety. A new transmission will cost over $5,000 and I am incredulous that Nissan knows their transmission is faulty but is refusing to remedy the situation.

2016 Nissan Rogue had transmission faililure while driving: gear slippage, engine racing and loss of power - unable to place in gear to drive. No warning message given. Vehicle was towed to Grossman Nissan in Old Saybrook, CT. It was diagnosed by dealer as CVT transmission defect internal failure and transmission replaced with a different transmission system on 6/23/22 with a bill of $4100. This is a known Nissan defect and could have caused an accident and injury.

We've owned this Nissan Rogue since since we bought it around 6,000 miles. I've maintained it and driven it almost completely all highway miles as we live in a rural area. Required maintenance schedule was followed and CVT transmission service was done at a Nissan Dealer. Without warning, the car lost acceleration/power in the middle of the highway as we were driving into town to take my son to baseball practice. We were nearly in a major accident as we could not accelerate. The engine kept revving as we put the pedal to the floor but would not move faster. Bringing it to the nearest dealership less than a mile away, he inspected it and informed us that the transmission would need to be replaced. Their little dealership had already done "over 70 of these" as Nissan "had a known problem with their CVT transmission." According to him it was poorly designed and they knew it. They had remedied some of the problems in the new/rebuilt transmission that could replace it, but refused to issue a recall for the defective transmissions. Cost to repair: more than $5,000! We could have been seriously injured or killed! This is a huge safety hazard that Nissan absolutely knows about and refuses to fix.

Several months ago, my car would seem to shift into low and rev very high without moving any faster. I took it in to the dealership, and they added transmission fluid. Since then, the frequency of this occurrence has increased to several times per week. This last time, the check engine light came on. I have an appointment on Monday to take the car in for repair to the dealership.
