Jc Billon supposedly fixed the gas line recall but unfortunately my car still smells like gas from time to time and I have reached out numerous times with no call backs and they still have not reached out about the engine recall
I was driving home at night when my car broke down on the highway. I had to leave the car there and take an Uber home. The next day, I had the car towed to the nearest Nissan Service Center to have it check/repair. They did the diagnostic and they didn't know what's going on with the car, a few days later they told me that the Engine was damaged and needed to be replaced but they were waiting for Nissan to approve it. It took 2 and a half weeks to get the car repair. After the repair, I still have the engine lights come up and the car jerks when accelerating; I reported these issues to Customer Affairs and they didn't do anything about it; they also told me that there is another recall pending and will be taken care of in January. This is not the first time the car broke down, I had all engine lights come up before and had to run the the Nissan Service center; they told me that the fuel gasket was leaking. I don't feel safe driving this car; I have to commute to work everyday and I'm afraid that is going to break down again. I bought a Nissan car because I had like 4 different Nissan models before and they always have been very reliable cars, but this time I think I got a lemon and Nissan don't feel like they need to replace it. I have all the recordings going back and forth with the Customer Affairs where they confirm that it was they fault the car broke down.
"The vehicle is affected by NHTSA Recall #25V-437, related to engine bearing defects in the VC-Turbo 1.5L 3-cylinder engine. This defect may cause engine damage and sudden loss of power while driving, creating a serious safety hazard. As of today, no repair or remedy has been provided."
I HAVE THE SMELL OF RAW FUEL COMING ENGINE AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT OFF . THE IS VERY NOTICEABLE INSIDE CABIN AREA, AND OUTSIDE OF CAR IF IT IS IN GARAGE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP TO MY NISSAN DEALER EACH TIME I BRING IT IN FOR SEVICE. I RECIEVE THE SAME ANSWER EACH TIME THERE NOTHING FROM NISSAN ON THIS ISSUE. THE SMELL OF GAS IS OVER BEARING AT TIMES , AND I'M AFRAID THAT IT MAY CATCH FIRE. THIS HAS BEEN A ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHACED THE CAR NEW.
There is an intermittent smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the cabin since purchasing the car. Nissan says there is no issue and offers no fix but I have never owned a car that had this type of smell in the cabin unless there was something wrong. The smell can be so bad as to cause nausea and headaches.
There is a problem with a tapping noise from the engine. It normally happens when lightly accelerating. “Nissan Rogue 2023, with 3 Cylinder, 1.5L DOCH 12-valve Super Charged, 201 hp, 225 lb-ft torque, XTRONIC CVT”. It started at about 11,000 miles but has continued and is now about 23,000 miles. I had the car in for a part replacement under warranty November 18, 2024 and asked for a test drive with a technician to observe for noise with me. We both heard the noise and the technician said it could be a couple of things. 1. Something could be loose in the engine linkage. 2. Could have something to do with the Turbocharger linkage or activator. 3. Could be just because it is a 3 Cylinder engine it is just a little more noisy (don’t by that). 4. I asked if it was possibly that the timing was slightly off. Technician said the only way to check, would be to have to drop the engine since you could not access the ports as it sits in the engine compartment. 5. I use regular 87% Octane gas as called for in the manual and told the technician that another dealer mechanic suggested trying premium grade Octane and see if that helps. I tried higher octane gas and still making the same sound when lightly accelerating from a stop or turning a 90 degree corner. 6. The next oil change, I will check to see if any metal shaving are in the oil. I will need to take it back in to the Nissan Dealer soon to have a discussion again.
I have only owned this vehicle 7 days and am returning it. After receiving this car and driving to 35 miles I noticed an intense smell of gasoline in the cabin of the vehicle. I at first assumed it could be exhaust from other cars. I stopped and waited a moment began to drive again and the smell permeated the cabin. The smell made me nauseous. I got home and called my local Nissan dealership and read online to check the dip stick for a smell of gasoline. Pulled the oil dip stick and the oil was diluted the viscosity was extremely runny and smelled strongly of gas. After reading of similar issues with this product I explained to the dealership I no longer wanted this vehicle and have sent it back because of this issue. In the week I attempted to drive the car the fumes did not stop were not subtle and were persistent. The experience was not pleasant and left no sense of dependability with this product. Nissans dealership stated it was an issue they were aware of and that I could bring it in for them to complete diagnostics and testing. I explained that if they were aware that any dealer prior to selling these cars should have inspected these vehicles for this issue if it is known and ensured the vehicle was safe. I feel I was sold a faulty unsafe product with known issues regardless of my safety. Nissan was once a reputable brand if the deal ship was aware of this and Nissan is aware of this they should automatically recall and adjust the issue quickly to ensure they take care of the consumer. I will not consider purchasing another product from this brand.
When car is sitting idle I can smell gas inside the car. Took car to dealership and was told there was a whole in a hose and they would replace the hose. Hose has been replaced and fumes still come into car when idle. The cars was bought new with 117 miles on it. It now has 5072 miles on it. I have been contacting them for the last two months as it took about three weeks for the hose to come in. When I discussed with the dealership I could still smell gas I was told they have had this issue with several of these cars but the hose usually fixes the problem. The smell is so bad that it now makes me sick to my stomach. I tell them I here a rattle in the engine that was not there before. They say the rattle is no more than any other car on the lot. They have not offered to give me something to drive while they figure out the problem. But at this point I feel it is dangerous for me to be driving it. Even just the time sitting at a stop like I can smell fumes.
While driving severe shuddering and knocking of the engine occurred rendering vehicle undriveable. Car was towed to Nissan dealership resulting in the entire engine and turbocharger needing to be replaced. Technician reported needing excessive force to move the crankshaft, high gasoline scent from oil, and metal/bearing in oil pan.
I can smell fuel inside my vehicle after my vehicle idles for 15-20 minutes. No visible leak on the ground, but fumes permeate my vehicle and have caused headaches to begin with my vehicle occupants and myself. I have noticed after driving and I park inside my garage, I can smell fuel as well, but no visible leak anywhere. The smell lasts for a good while after being parked, but eventually goes away. I made an appointment for December 22nd, 2023 to have it looked at, showed up Riverside Auto Mall of Marquette, MI and was turned away because if the vehicle isn't replicating what I am experiencing, they could not do anything about it because they don't know why its happening. I was told by the service manager to contact her if anyone began experiencing headaches. We did experience headaches at a later date this happened, had an appointment scheduled for April 1, 2024, and was called the same morning of the appointment to have it cancelled due to their "Nissan Technician" not being able to work on it since he was out of town. I was told I would receive a call back to reschedule, and to this day, May 20, 2024, I have not received a call. I have not made another appointment because I have a feeling I will be given the run around again, but I continue to smell fuel intermittently while idling. Not sure what else to do at this point because it is a leased vehicle.
Owned the car since 1/23. Within a few months car died on the interstate due to a hole in the fuel tank. Nissan repaired. Prior to that I took the car in because it always smells of gas. Especially when the car is running. You could smell inside and outside of cabin. People walking by noticed. Dealership couldn’t figure it out. Googled this myself and there are multiple complaints of the gas smell. On 5/2/24, I wasn’t able to start my car. Had it towed. Took Nissan one week to run diagnostics. On 5/9 they confirmed there was coolant in my oil and cylinders. Covered by warranty. They told me parts would be in this week but they wouldn’t be able to repair the car for another 2 to 3 weeks. Said they were down personnel.
There is a noise on the engine the change the engine and turbo after that the noise continues they said I need tu put gas 93 unleaded I been putting that gas the car continues with the noise and now is shaking
Purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue in May 2023 with less than 10 miles on it. Shortly after purchase myself and my family noticed the smell of gas fumes in the cabin, which I initially ignored. I took the car back to the dealership in August 2023 at 4,700 miles due to the noxious fumes/smell. The car’s PCV valve was replaced for the first time. I again took the vehicle into the dealership in December 2023 at 12,900 miles due to the extremely strong smell of gas fumes coming into the cabin but also radiating throughout my entire garage. These fumes burn my eyes, throat, make me nauseous, and cause headaches. My heated garage has an open flame heater and I became worried that the potentially uncombusted gas products leaking into the air could cause an explosion or fire. The dealership replaced my PCV hose a second time, but this did not solve the issue. I returned to dealership in February 2024 at 15,000 miles for persistent gas fumes in the cabin and radiating throughout my garage. There was nothing wrong with my PCV hose and the PCV hoses were on “back order”. Nothing was done to my car other than “wash off the engine bay to try to get rid of the smell”. Nissan was unable to resolve the issue or produce any viable solutions, they returned my car to me the next day and after driving it home from work and parking it in my garage, the noxious gas/odor was still strongly present and I was told by family that my clothes smell like gasoline/oil fumes. I am afraid for my health and safety while driving this vehicle. I do not feel that Nissan has adequately addressed this issue and continues to ignore it without producing viable solutions. It appears to me that there is likely a defect in the engineering/manufacturing of this vehicle and intrinsic faults within the engine and its components. I believe that if action is not taken by Nissan or governmental regulatory bodies, consumers will experience serious health and safety consequences.
Cabin often smells like gasoline, seems like there is a leak somewhere. Dealer told me there is no fix, and that the vehicle is under "Engineering Review".
Vehicle is emitting a gas smell after it runs. Smells like gasoline.
There is a strong gasoline odor in and around the car after driving
My vehicle cabin smells like gas after driving for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. I took it back to the dealership in January 10, 2024 where they changed hose assembly blow by PVC hose. This did not resolve the issue. The fuel smell is very strong inside the cab as will as standing outside the vehicle
On July 21,2023 while driving at highway speeds the engine started to sputter. Multiple engine failure lights came on. The engine died and I had 1-2 seconds to get the vehicle out of the highway onto the shoulder. I was told the by the dealer that part of the fuel injector may have come loose and damaged the cylinder. The vehicle had only 562 miles on it. I do not have any paperwork on it because almost 2 months later the car is still at the dealer. Today I was informed the new engine they installed also failed because of a bad cylinder.
After driving the car and parking it in the garage we notice a "raw gasoline" smell. If we are driving and idle at a stop sign the heater (heating the interior) picks up the gasoline smell and the fumes come inside the car. We have to open the windows to air it out once moving. The problem appears to be getting worse, meaning the smell is getting stronger. We have contacted Nissan and they gave me a case number #48234302, but no progress. The dealer says Nissan is working on the issue, but there is no fix. I have call both Nissan and the dealer since 1-18-2023, but for the most part no one will respond anymore. We find the smell a health concern.
When driving in stop and go traffic, the cabin of my Nissan Rogue gets a strong smell of fuel. After driving it, I park in my garage and the entire garage smells like gasoline as well. There is no other source for this smell in my garage. I have taken it to the dealership looking for a gasoline leak and they said it is not leaking, yet I smell gasoline while driving as well as when it is parked inside the garage and outside in parking lots.
Friday, March 24, 2023 AM: Returned to parked Rogue after an 1.25 hr appt and found the cabin reeking of a fuel smell. No fuel leaks under vehicle to explain smell. Smell dissipated some after driving for 10 mins at low speeds with outside air circulation on. Smell fully left cabin while driving at highway speeds for 15 mins with outside air circulation on. Sunday, March 26, 2023 AM: Returned to parked Rogue after 2 hr Church to find cabin filled with a fuel smell. Again, no leaks noted under vehicle. Drive home decreased the smell at highway speeds with outside air circulation on, but this was after the entire family had already become ill from the smell while driving through town at lower speeds. Stopped at parent's house briefly and left engine running; husband had to turn engine off and roll windows down, as the fuel smell entering the cabin became really strong and was making husband and son ill again. Noted the fuel smell emanating from all around the vehicle for several hours after getting home, with the strongest smells coming from the engine area. Monday, March 27, 2023 AM: Brought vehicle back to dealership, 70+ mile drive, to have their service center look at it due to health and safety concerns. No fuel smell detected when entered vehicle before journey, drove down with recirculated air on, and only detected a faint fuel smell coming from the engine compartment upon arrival at service center. Performed a visual inspection, specific fuel & emissions system exam, complete high pressure fuel system test, fuel leak/odor pinpoint diagnostic. No failed or defective components found. They were "unable to verify the customer's concern of fuel odor at this time." Mfg service bulletin found on issue; no repair options yet. Fuel smell now constant, whether parked or driven. Recirculate air only used. Can't open windows without smell entering. Continued concern for health/safety.
I bought my first brand new 2023 Nissan Rogue SV Oct 29th 2022. I noticed a weird acceleration at times. Nissan said nothing wrong. Then I believe in spring time.. maybe April that I started noticing my garage smell of gas, the inside of car smells like gas. Nissan fixes it and said part is on backorder but they were going to use a temporary fix that may or may not hold up. October 30 2023 I brought it back in to have same issued fixed. Week of Nov 27 2023 my garage smelt the worst it has ever smelt. Like gas was spilled all over. It was that strong. Inside of car smelt of gas. I had a headache all week. My son did for 3 days. Id come out of work and I could smell the gas before I even got to my vehicle that has been sitting outside all day. I called Burnsville Nissan and asked for another appt. Went today and said couldn't smell it but replaced tube (same as other 2 times) it's a known problem with 2021-23 Nissan Rogues. I see there are plenty of lawsuits and Nissan is well aware and has been aware of this issue. This issue will cause engine failure. It's unsafe. I have 2 young kids. I'm a single mom. What if my engine fails on a freeway out of nowhere with my kids. This is unacceptable for Nissan and needs to be addressed.
After driving the inside cabin smells like fuel along motor area and around front of car. No noticeable leaks. Dealer said no noticeable leaks, called Nissan Tech line, tech line had them check a few specific areas believe some pressurized fuel lines. Service manager said it is a known issue with no current fix although Nissan engineers are working on it. Both service manager and service advisor recommended calling Nissan of North America. Issue started Feb 2023. Motor air filter smells like gas along with the oil in the motor when smelled from dipstick.
Strong smell of gasoline in our garage, coming from the 2023 Nissan Rogue everytime we park the car. Fumes/vapors fill the garage, and then into the house.
There is a constant strong fuel odor coming from the car, especially when it is parked inside the garage. It is most noticeable under the front hood as well as inside the cabin. The car has been inspected by the Nissan dealer and they have not found any leaks. They did confirm that this is a known concern, which is under engineering review and the dealership is working with a specialist to address this. They have also informed us the smell is caused by colder temperatures as more fuel needs to be injected than normal and thus causing the strong odor. However, the smell is constant even in worm temperatures. Also, a Nissan engineer has confirmed that this is caused by a design flaw, which only appears on cars with a turbo.
