What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission failed to operate properly. The component is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle jerks when shifting gears and upshifts on its own, causing unpredictable changes in speed and loss of smooth acceleration. This creates a risk of sudden acceleration or hesitation, especially in traffic, increasing the potential for a collision. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, the problem has not yet been formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? No, the vehicle and transmission have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Prior to the failure, the vehicle began jerking during gear shifts. The transmission does not properly shift gears in relation to engine upshifting and will upshift by itself. These symptoms appeared before the failure and have continued since.

Vehicle began making a whining noise when starting with car in park, accelerating or decelerating. Didn’t seem to drive like normal. I Immediately took car to my usual mechanic and was notified it was the CVT transmission and it would need to be replaced. I was made aware of the recall by my mechanic. I contacted Nissan and was told they would not cover it. I’ve kept regular maintenance on my car and it only has 131,000 miles. .

I took this vehicle to the dealership, and the dealership said that the transmission needs to be replaced. I sold this car to Surburban Chevrolet of Ann Arbor, but they appear to be selling the car without fixing the transmission. It is not safe to drive this car because the vehicle is jerky and may not change the gear properly in the highway.

The transmission failed. The car just stopped moving forward while My son was driving in traffic. It was 12:00 in the afternoon on a Friday so local traffic was a bit heavy. Traffic had to go onto the other side of the road creating a hazard. Luckily the car behind was following at a safe distance and was able to stop. There was no previous warnings that this was going to happen. The car had to be towed to a repair shop. The repair shop called NIssan but they said they could not offer any assistance with repairing the transmission even though this is a known problem to them.

When I started the car it sounded like the engine was clicking. I turned it off thinking it may have been from the cold. After restarting the car, the sound did not start again. About 10 minutes into my drive, it started to feel like the the car was shaking each time I braked. About 5 minutes later, it felt like the car was fighting me to accelerate. After I stopped at a red light, it would not accelerate past 20 mph and started dropping as I pulled to the side of the road. It would not accelerate but I could hear the engine revving. No service engine light came on, or any other light. I turned off the car and called AAA to have my car towed to the dealership I purchased the car (Piazza Nissan). They did a diagnosis on the car which gave the diagnostic of P2859 and P0746. Upon searching these codes, a recall for Nissan Sentra with manufacture dates of 2013-2017 came up stating CVT judder and transmission issues. I called the dealer to ask about this recall, since they told me I need a new transmission with the cost of $6640.87. I was told the recall (Classification #AT19-011, NTB #NTB19-075 [XXX] ) for this expired in 2022. When asked why I never received a notice about this recall, I was informed they are sent by VIN. When I checked my VIN, no active recalls came up. Clearly, my car is experiencing the same issues as this recall and my vehicle (2015 Nissan Sentra) was manufactured in that time frame. I was lucky I was able to move my vehicle to the side of the road safely without causing as accident. I am deeply annoyed that I was not made aware of this issue that clearly effected my vehicle and could have caused a serious accident had I not been able to pull to the side of the road and thankfully the car behind was not close to me. 2015 Nissan Sentra with only 83000 CVT transmission failed

Type: Vehicle, Vehicle: 2015 NISSAN SENTRA, Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

Dec 2023

While pulling out in an intersection, my car would not accelerate as normal and I was almost hit by incoming traffic. When accelerating from stop, the vehicle moves slowly and hesitates. Once over a certain speed the car will function properly. The CVT is an issue in models 2013-2015 Nissan Altima also, but the manufacturer issued an extension for the powertrain warranty. The same should be done for the Sentra. It's a safety concern, because the CVT can go out at any time putting the driver at risk.

1.Engine malfunction/Transmission failure .Yes, available for inspection upon request. 2. While driving my car in traffic my car started to hesitate then it started to slow down on its own I pressed on the gas pedal and it did not move forward at all the speedometer went to zero ,so I quickly turned on my hazard lights and pull over on the side of the road. Thank god I was in the lane close to the shoulder of the road. I cut the car off for a minute then started it back up and put it in drive and drove it down the street to my brother’s house where it is still sitting there now. This was very frightening and very unsafe experience , there were no warning signs far as dashboard icons emergency. I’m afraid to drive my car again and now have pay someone to take me to work and back home this is so inconvenient for me when I have a car of my own . All because of this faulty situation with the transmission 3. No inspections by anyone. 4. Prompt actions and attention to the matter of my car is of the importance to me and my Nissan Sentra to ensure the safety of myself and others.

I just bought a 2015 Nissan Sentra. I have gotten 2 error codes P0101 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction and C1130 Engine Signal 1 two times in a span of 4 months. Based on my research, the 'C' error code only occurs because of the 'P' error code, meaning once I resolve the 'P' code then the 'C' code will resolve. In both instances my report, that I got from Autozone, suggested to replace my Mass Air Flow Sensor(MAFS). The first time it occurred I bought a brand new MAFS from Autozone and installed it in my car using YouTubes help. After it was installed, I had a mechanic reprogram my cars computer. The mechanic's exact words were that he "relearned the throttle body values". I did this because he advised me to just to be safe. My check engine light came on recently and when I got the codes read at Autozone it was telling me the EXACT same codes as last time. This is four months later from when I installed the brand new MAFS in my car so I highly doubt it is the MAFS that is the problem. In my attached pictures, there is another code regarding my transmission that is unrelated to this issue so please ignore it, I'm getting it fixed on my own. I did research online and found that this exact same issue with the 2 error codes I am having is a very common issue with Nissan Sentras in general. Please help and force Nissan to resolve this ongoing issue that MANY people are having.

CVT is failing leaving the car unable to start and runs rough. Will not shift. Been towed several times.

Type: Vehicle, Vehicle: 2015 NISSAN SENTRA, Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.
Incident: Oct 2023
Oct 2023

The vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating while driving 10 mph in heavy traffic. The RPM's do not go above 2,000 and no visible failure lights on dashboard are reported. Vehicle has 109k miles and has always been serviced. Mechanic performed inspection and confirmed CVT failure. Replacing the CVT now costs what the car is worth. Makes no sense to repair. Nissan needs to do better.
