I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND I HAD NO PRIMARY BRAKE FUNCTION. I WENT THRU AN INTERSECTION UNABLE TO STOP AND COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED MY FAMILY OR SOMEONE ELSE. THE VEHICLE DOES THIS MULTIPLE TIMES, IF I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, RESTART THE VEHICLE I HAVE BRAKES, DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THEN NO BRAKES. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON LINE, AND IT'S THE BRAKE BOOSTER. NISSAN KNOWS OF THE ISSUE, THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF EXACT COMPLAINTS ON LINE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I'VE CONTACTED NISSAN, AND I GET NOTHING FROM THEM OR ANY ASSISTANCE. PLEASE, PLEASE, DO SOME RESEARCH ON LINE ABOUT THIS AND MAKE NISSAN FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. I HAVE THE VEHICLE PARKED IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE IT'S UNSAFE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER FOR THE $1,200.00 REPAIR AND TOWING BILL. AS A CONSUMER I NEED YOUR HELP. *TR
MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN HAS HAD NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES MAKE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD TO GO ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. ONCE I GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED I CAN TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND THE BRAKES RESET AND WORK CORRECTLY. HOWEVER, THESE INCIDENTS ARE OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY NOW AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO RESTART THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE RESET. THIS IS A VERY CRITICAL SAFETY FLAW AND I HAVE READ MANY OTHER TITAN OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL THESE TRUCKS AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE THERE IS A SERIOUS INJURY OR A FATALITY. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW AND IT HAS BEEN SERVICED AT PROPER INTERVALS. *TR
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A BRAKE / ABS PROBLEM WITH MY 2004 NISSAN TITAN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AS I WAS DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE BRAKES UNDER NORMAL BRAKING CONDITIONS, I HAVE ALMOST NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK IN TIME. IT FELT AS THOUGH THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING AND BRAKE PEDAL IS FLUCTUATING, VIBRATING AND GRINDING. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/17/14 THEY SAID IT WAS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE. I PAID ABOUT $100 FOR THEM TO UPLOAD A NEW PROGRAM. THEY TOLD ME THE NEW PROGRAM DIDN'T TAKE AND THEN TOLD ME THE DELTA SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS MOST LIKELY THE ISSUE. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE ENTIRE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY MUST BE PURCHASED SINCE THEY DON'T SELL THE DELTA SENSOR SEPARATELY, AND THE COST IS $950 TO REPLACE. I CALLED AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS THE NEXT DAY 7/18/14. TODAY 7/24/14, I FINALLY RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS LETTING ME KNOW THAT THEY WERE UNWILLING TO HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE IT' OUT OF WARRANTY, NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WILL NOT PURSUE ANY FURTHER ACTION IN REGARDS TO MY CASE & CONSIDERED THE MATTER CLOSED. *TR
SUDDEN BRAKE LOSS WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 30MPH. IT HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AND SEEMS TO HAVE INCREASED AFTER A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. I'D GUESS 10 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK NOW, I'VE KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE FOR SOME TIME AND WAS READING ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WHICH I BELIEVE ONLY COVERED THE RESIDENTS OF CALIFORNIA AND THE COMMENTS SUGGESTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT HERE. IT'S THE SAME THING, THE EMERGENCY LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN APPLY BRAKES THERE IS NO PRESSURE AND AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE. ONCE YOU COME TO A SAFE STOP, TURN OFF AND BACK ON, AND THE PROBLEM IS GONE! PREVIOUSLY, IT HAD BEEN WEEKS AND EVEN MAYBE MONTHS IN BETWEEN BUT NOW IT SEEMS TO HAVE TURNED IN A DAILY TASK. ANY UPDATE ON RECALL OR NATIONWIDE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 107,000.
VEHICLE WOULD START TO MAKE LOUD NOISE WHEN BRAKING, AND THEN BRAKES WOULD STOP WORKING ALTOGETHER. THE FIRST FEW INCIDENTS IN THE PAST YEAR BECAUSE WE WERE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED WE COULD COAST TO A STOP. TURN OFF ENGINE, AND THEN TURN BACK ON. PROBLEM WENT AWAY UNTIL NEXT INCIDENT. WE JUST COMPLETED A FACTORY REPAIR COSTING JUST UNDER $1400 AND IT WAS TO REPLACE A MECHANISM THAT WAS FAILING TO DELIVER THE SIGNAL, OR FLUID (I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS VERY WELL ENOUGH TECHNICALLY) TO MAKE THE BRAKES STOP. THE PARTS WERE OVER $600 AND LABOR ALSO OVER $600. WHILE VEHICLE IS 10 YEARS OLD THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT ISSUE AND NOT WEAR AND TEAR. I'VE READ THAT THIS IS A REPORTED ISSUE WITH NHTSB SO I WANTED TO FILE ALSO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE SLIP, VDC AND BRAKE LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK EVENTUALLY DID STOP BUT I CAME CLOSE TO HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE READ AND RESEARCHED THOROUGHLY ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN CALIFORNIA REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR WHERE I HAVE ALMOST COMPLETELY LOST MY BRAKES. NISSAN NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE A DELTA STROKE SENSOR THAT IS HOUSED WITHIN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I HAVE NOT REPLACE THIS YET AS I AM NOT SURE IF THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE OUT THERE. *TR
WHILE TAKING A EXIT RAMP AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED DUE TO STOPPING TRAFFIC PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH A GRINDING SOUND. I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND WENT PAST 2 CARS BEFORE STOPPING IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE LIGHT WAS GONE. REPORTED THIS TO THE NISSAN DEALER ....THEY STATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE.....THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET AND ALSO FILED WITH NHTSA. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THEY WILL DO NOTHING UNTIL A RECALL. I CERTAINLY HOPE NO ONE DIES FROM THIS AS THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WILL FOLLOW WILL BE VERY EMBARRASSING TO NHTSA, DOT, AND NISSAN AS YOU HAVE ALL BEEN MADE VERY AWARE OF THIS.... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED TO VIBRATE AND FAILED TO ENGAGE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR AND BRAKE BOOSTER SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,611.
REAR AXLE SEALS LEAK AND COULD POTENTIALLY SOAK REAR DISC BRAKE PADS TO THE POINT OF COMPLETE FAILURE. *JS
SLOWING FOR A STOP, BRAKE PEDAL MUSHED AND A GRINDING ABS SHUDDER PRESENTED. AS SPEED WAS LOW, I WAS ABLE TO MANAGE A STOP OF THE VEHICLE. RETURNED HOME SLOWLY AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. TWO DAYS AGO THE SLACK PEDAL AND GRINDING NOISE OCCURRED AGAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHO REPLIED "NO AWARENESS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. BRING IN WHEN EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS." RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. REQUESTED A SERVICE TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR/BOOSTER COMPONENTS. CANNOT IMAGINE DRIVING THIS BIG TRUCK HOPING TO LOSE BRAKING AT A TIME WHEN, WITH NO RISK TO MYSELF OR OTHERS, THE DEALERSHIP CAN SEE/HEAR THE PROBLEM. SHOCKINGLY UNETHICAL! MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT THE NEW COMPONENTS MAY BE JUST AS FAULTY. PLEASE ADD MY VOICE TO THOSE CALLING FOR NISSAN AND/OR THE NTSB TO ADDRESS THIS BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE ... OR HAVE THEY ALREADY AND IT HAS NOT BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO THIS FAILURE?? *TT
BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON DASH ILLUMINATED. WHEN BRAKE PRESSURE APPLIED, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, BRAKES MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND BRAKING EFFICIENCY WAS GREATLY DIMINISHED. HAD TO DRIVE ONTO RIGHT SHOULDER OF ROADWAY TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS ABOUT 3 TIMES PER YEAR ON THIS 61,000 MILE VEHICLE. TOOK TO NISSAN UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE PROBLEM AND RECEIVED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THIS GOT ME OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN PROBLEM OCCURRED OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY AGAIN, DEALER AND NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF SAME. *TR
I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT NHTSA IS FINALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT NISSAN TITAN BRAKE PROBLEMS. I OWN A 2004 NISSAN TITAN WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED NO BRAKES AT ALL WHEN THE TRAFFIC SUDDENLY STOPS IN FRONT OF YOU. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THESE BRAKES TO THE NHTSA, NISSAN, ETC, TO NO AVAIL. THE PROBLEM IS VERY INTERMITTENT AND YOU CANNOT SIMPLY TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND SHOW THEM THE PROBLEM. IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WHEN THE BRAKES FAIL TO WORK, YOU PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN THE TRUCK 'S IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THE BRAKES ARE THEN RE-SET AND WORKING FINE. MY SON DISCOVERED THIS TEMPORARY FIX SOLUTION. IT IS A SERIOUS, REAL PROBLEM FOR NISSAN TITAN AND ARMADA OWNER'S. IT HAPPENS TO OUR TITAN TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR. MANY OWNER'S COMPLAIN OF THE SAME TROUBLE ONLINE. I'D LOVE TO HEAR THAT NISSAN TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL THESE VEHICLES AND SOLVES THIS PROBLEM FOR THEIR LOYAL OWNERS. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WAS HESITANT TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED ON ITS OWN INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN AXLE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURE RECALL FOR A BRAKE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THEN, WHEN SLOWING TO TURN, BRAKES SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND DID NOT FEEL AS IF THEY WOULD SUCCEED IN STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I SLOWED ENOUGH TO TURN, THEN PROCEEDED SLOWLY TO MAKE 2 MORE IMMEDIATE TURNS BEFORE REACHING MY HOUSE. THE BRAKES SHUDDERED AND WERE NOT 100% EFFECTIVE EACH TIME THE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. FLUID LEVELS ARE NORMAL, BRAKE COMPONENTS LOOK GOOD. AFTER TURNING TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON, PROBLEM WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPLICATED. HOWEVER, AFTER DOING ONLINE RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS AS YET REFUSED TO ADDRESS, EVEN THOUGH IT COULD LEAD TO COLLISIONS AND FATALITIES. *TR
I TOO HAVE2004 TITAN WHIT BRAKE PROBLEM, WARNIN LIGHT COMES ON PEDEL GOSE TO FLOOR.REPLACE BRAKE DISK AND INSPETED ALL BRAKE PARTS PROBLEM KEEP COMEING BACK AFTER SEVERL DAYS . NISSAN NEED TO DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TT
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT AN INTERSECTION THE BRAKES FAILED. THE "BRAKE" LIGHT CAME ON, IT MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND I HAD NO BRAKES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC AND AFTER CHECKING THE COMPUTER FOR EMBEDDED CODES HE FOUND TWO CODE FAILURES (C1104 & C1179). I HAVE GOOGLED THESE PROBLEMS AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY OTHER NISSAN ARMADA AND TITAN OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN TITAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ALSO ACTIVATED ERRONEOUSLY BUT WAS THE ONLY FUNCTIONING BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE COMPUTER WAS RESET HOWEVER FAILURE RECURRED THREE WEEKS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND OFFERED TO ASSISTANCE WITH THE CONTACT WITH THE COST OF THE COMPUTER RESET. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,771.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID HITTING THE REAR END OF ANOTHER CAR WHILE IT WAS STOPPED TO MAKE A TURN. WITHOUT WARNING, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE ABS UNIT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE "BRAKE" WARNING LIGHT. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE PEDAL ACTION CONTINUED UNTIL I COULD GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. WHEN STOPPED I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS AT THE MAX LINE ON THE RESERVOIR. AS A MECHANIC, I LATER CHECKED THE VEHICLE FOR CODES STORED. IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE CODE "C1179" INDICATING A POSSIBLE DELTA STROKE SENSOR/SIGNAL FAULT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WITH THIS TRUCK. LUCKILY, THE FIRST TIME, NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. I REALLY AM CONCERNED THAT THIS TYPE OF FAULT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE ANY OCCUPANT(S) IN EITHER VEHICLE OR POSSIBLY A PEDESTRIAN. IT MAY PROVE TO BE FATAL IN ANY CASE. ONE POSSIBLE FIX COULD BE TO ALLOW THE ABS UNIT TO BE TURNED OFF WHEN CODE "C1179" OCCURS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
