The low pressure power steering hose is leaking and can't get part for it. Been having to invest in tons of power steering fluid and want to know if this is gonna be a recall. It is very frustrating that we can't get parts for the problem.

Drag link issue led to not being able to get an alignment, dealership and RAM support refused to fix it, as it was completed but they did not do it correctly the first time and it is dangerous

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for an alignment and the contact was informed that an alignment could not be completed because to the tie rods were welded together. The dealer who performed the recall repair was contacted and confirmed that the tie rods were to be welded as stated in the recall. The dealer informed the contact that the repair was approved by the NHTSA and that for the alignment to be performed, the entire part had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The recall repair stated that Chrysler would notify owners, and dealers would check the steering linkage jam nut tightness, replacing the drag link assembly or welding the nut to the adjuster sleeve, free of charge. The contact believed that the dealer failed to perform the remedy due to the tie rods not specifically being mentioned as what was expected to be welded together. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the remedy was to weld the tie rods. The manufacturer opened a case regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 17,519.

On 7/11/2024, I had a service performed at a local independent automotive repair facility because I purchased new tires for the truck. The repair service history on the truck was limited because I inherited this vehicle from my deceased son. I intend to transfer ownership to my other son who will be towing a large RV Trailer with it. Prior to this service, I was unaware of an important safety recall identified as V06 Drag Link. After the alignment service was completed, the local service technician explained he was able to perform the alignment and confirmed the V06 repair had been previously done. He said the steering box nuts on each end of the Adjuster Sleeve had been welded, which was the recommended fix presented in the FCA US LLC safety recall notification. The truck steering wheel was not centered since I acquired it in 2021. At times it was cocked to the left between the 11/12 o'clock position. I attributed this to the well worn tires not knowing about the V06 safety recall issue. The service technician advised that while doing the alignment he noted the welded adjuster sleeve "had play" in it and recommended I take the vehicle to an authorized RAM dealership for this issue because he stated "an updated sleeve" was made available subsequent to issuance of the V06 safety recall notification. He warned a potential failure of the adjuster sleeve could result in loss of steering and a crash. I followed the service technician advice and took the vehicle to the local RAM dealership. I presented the alignment service finding to a management official who responded the recommended safety recall issue had been fixed and no updated sleeve available. The manager never offered to inspect the adjuster sleeve "play" issue and proceeded to list over $3,000 of other 60,000 mile recommended services. Because of the potential safety issue identified as described, I am deeply concerned the RAM dealership was intentionally discarding my safety concerns.

May 2024

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 2500. The contact stated while the vehicle was taken for an alignment, the independent mechanic became aware that the steering linkage was loosened. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering); however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was made not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Nov 2023

I took my 2016 Dodge Ram to the dealership that I purchased it from and asked for an alignment. The dealership informed me that they would not perform the alignment as the V06 Recall had been performed, which had welded the adjustment nuts to vehicle's drag link. I was told that in order to get the vehicle aligned properly, the drag link would need to be replaced by contacting FCA. When FCA had called the dealership informing them of how to go about replacing the drag link, the dealership refused to discuss with them. The welded adjustment nuts should only be a temporary fix, and I would expect Doge to replace the defective component. The welds also seem of questionable quality, you would expect a higher standard for a critical component that could fail and cause a major accident.

Oct 2023

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was pulling to the right. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle needed an alignment; however, since the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18E096000 (Steering) the alignment could not be performed. The contact was informed that due to the welding that was performed as part of the recall repair, the wheels could not be aligned. The manufacturer was contacted numerous times about the failure, but the contact was not given an answer as to when a repair would become available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

After buying new tire. I had an alignment done. in order to align the vehicle i was told the draglink was welded in solid and because of that it makes the steering wheel off center. It is a $500+ dollar fix with custom parts. I feel this could be a problem and safety issue.

recall number 19V021000 was performed to correct drag link jam nuts loosening. took truck in to get alignment done and the reapir shop wants to charge $700 dollars for replacement drag link because they cannot adjust draglink due to previous recall. this is unacceptable and should have never been a permeant fix and now forcing consumers to pay for something that should have been fixed the right way. i am suprised that a class action lawsuit hasnt been brought on by this

WHEN DRIVING MY 2016 RAM 2500 THERE IS WOBBLE OR SEVERE VIBRATION. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I SOMETIMES HAVE TO FIGHT WITH THE STEERING. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS EFFECTING THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. THIS IS AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IN RESPONSE TO THE DRAG LINK RECALL THE DEALER HAS WELDED THE DRAG LINK IN PLACE PREVENTING IT FROM BEING ALIGNED. NEWER MODEL TRUCKS THAT WERE PART OF THE RECALL HAD THE PART REPLACED BUT THE OLDER MODEL (MINE IS 2016) WERE WELDED IN PLACE. IN ORDER TO HAVE ALIGNMENT ADJUSTED THE WELD WILL HAVE TO BE BROKEN AND THEN REWELDED. EVERYTIME THE WELD IS BROKEN AND REDONE TO ALLOW FOR ALIGNMENT IT WEAKENS THE METAL. THIS IS NOT SAFE BUT THEN AGAIN, NEITHER IS DRIVING WITH THE FRONT END WOBBLING. IN ADDITION, NONE OF THE REPAIR SHOPS WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH BREAKING THE WELD AND ALIGNING MY TRUCK DUE TO THE LIABILITY OF DOING SUCH.

I CALLED MY DEALER ABOUT A RECENT RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD BE WELDING THE THREADS ON MY CENTER DRAG LINK. THIS PREVENTS THE STEERING WHEEEL FROM EVER BEING ADJUSTED AFTER AN ALIGNMENT. THIS NOW CREATES ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE WITH A STEERING WHEEL THAT WILL BE WAY OFF CENTER. SO MUCH FOR THE 1- & 2 POSITIONS. THIS SO CALLED FIX IS IS A DISGRACE! IT CALLS FOR WELDING AN ADJUSTABLE PART OF THE STEERING LINKAGE RENDERING IT NON- ADJUSTABLE WHEN HAVING THE FRONT END ALIGNED IN THE FUTURE. NOT TO MENTION THE EFFECT OF WELDING, POTENTIALLY CAUSING A PROBLEM WITH THE INTEGRITY OF THE METAL. THE CORRECT FIX FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS TO REPLACE THIS STEERING LINKAGE COMPONENT, THE ENTIRE DRAG LINK! NOT DO A "BACK YARD, SHADE TREE MECHANIC" WELD JOB ON THE STEERING LINKAGE OF ALL THINGS! I AM APPALLED THAT NHTSA APPROVED SUCH A THING. PLEASE REVISIT THIS ISSUE AND DO THE RIGHT THING. REQUIRE CHRYSLER (FCA US LLC) TO REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE PART WITH THE PROPER PART. NOTE.... CHRYSLER IS NOT WELDING THE NUTS ON THE DRAG LINKS ON TRUCKS COMING OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE! THEY ARE COMING OFF WITH PROPER, SAFE, ADJUSTABLE DRAG LINKS! I WILL DIE IN THIS TRUCK BEFORE I LET FCA WELD ANYTHING ON MY STEERING LINKAGE. JUST SO YOU KNOW.

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2016 RAM 2500 WITHTHE DRAG LINK RECALL. THE PROPOSED FIX TO THE DRAG LINK DOES NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. WHLE IT PROVIDES A WORK AROUND, THERE ARE COMPLIANTS THAT EVEN AFTER THE PARTS ARE WELDED OWNERS EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE FURTHER INVESTIGATED AND THE ROOT CAUSE WHICH IS DEFECTIVE PARTS SHOULD BE REPLACED AND NOT SIMPLY WELDED. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE PARTS REPLACE BUT THEY HAVE INDICATED THEY WILL NOT COMPLY WITH MY REQUEST. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THIS "FIX" IS ACCEPTABLE BY NHSTA TO MAKE IT SAFER AND ACCEPTABLE. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V021000

RECALL FIX FOR DRAG LINK, PER MANUFACTURER IS FOLLOWING YOUR REQUIREMENTS TO WELD ADJUSTMENT NUTS TO DRAG LINK ADJUSTER. NO PARTS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME, NO FUTURE FIX IS UNDERWAY. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE FIX. WELDING A STEERING PART THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE ADJUSTABLE IS NOT A SAFETY FIX. I PURCHASED AN AFTERMARKET DRAG LINK AND REPLACED IT MYSELF UNTIL A SAFE FIX IS AVAILABLE. FCA REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPLACEMENT DRAG LINK. NOTE THE REPLACEMENT IS NOT WELDED, SUPER GLUED OR DUCK TAPED FIX. THE WELDING OF THE DRAG LINK WOULD REQUIRE IT TO BE CUT TO BE ADJUSTED AND THEN REWELDED. IF ANY FUTURE REPAIRS ARE REQUIRED A REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP WILL NOT WORK ON THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THE POORLY DESIGNED FIX. THE ONLY REPAIR THEN WOULD BE THE DEALER WHO IS NOT A CERTIFIED WELDING COMPANY. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO TAKE MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR OR MAINTENANCE TO ANY SHOP I WOULD WANT. I WAS UNAWARE THAT YOU ARE THE ONES THAT DESIGN A REPAIR AND NOT REQUIRE THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE REPLACEMENT PART. I HOPE THE LUG NUTS OR STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT FAIL, THEY WILL WANT TO WELD IT ALSO. POOR DESIGN AND POOR FIX. I AM SURE THAT YOU WOULD NOT TRANSPORT YOUR CHILDREN, FAMILY MEMBERS OR GRAND CHILDREN IN A POORLY REPAIRED FIX.

RECEIVED A RECALL EARLIER THIS YEAR IN REF. TO MY 2016 RAM 2500 DIESEL. THE STEERING DRAG LINK COULD COME LOOSE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. A FEW MONTHS AGO I WAS SENT ANOTHER NOTICE THAT THE REPAIRS HAVE BEGUN. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A 2 HOURS FIX AND I WAS DIRECTED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. ON JULY14, 2019 I CALLED OURISMAN DODGE RAM JEEP OF BOWIE MARYLAND AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIR FOR JULY 23, 2019 AT 8:20 HOURS. I ARRIVE SLIGHTLY EARLY AND WAS CONFRONTED BY AN UNKNOWN SERVICE REP WHO TOLD ME THAT I COULD NOT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ACCEPTING OR SCHEDULING ANY RECALL REPAIRS ON THE RAM TRUCKS. I ASSURED HIM THAT I HAD MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND SINCE THIS WAS SUCH A DANGEROUS RECALL, I NEED MY VEHICLE SERVICED. HE REFUSED. HE DID SAY THAT HE WOULD TAKE THE TRUCK, BUT IT MAY BE 3-4 WEEKS BEFORE HE HAD TIME TO LOOK AT IT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS UNACCEPTABLE. HE STATED THAT ALL MARYLAND DEALERSHIPS WERE "BACKED UP" AND WOULD NOT COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK. HE TOLD ME TO GO TO VIRGINIA AND HAVE THE WORK DONE. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AND THOUGH THAT WAS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER (SCOTT DONALDSON) AND IT'S BEEN 2 DAYS AND HE HAS NOT RETURNED MY TELEPHONE CALLS. CAN A DEALERSHIP REFUSE TO HONOR RECALL/WARRANTY WORK??
