TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAG SEAT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SIDE SRS AIRBAG ASSEMBLY IS COMING OFF AND SEEMS AS IF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATORS FAILED TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAG. THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS TO THE CAR. TRIED TO REPORT AND LODGE FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND THEIR DEALERS, BUT THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND DECIDED NOT TO LODGE COMPLAINT. *TR.... UPDATED 10-17-13 *BF
YOU HAVE SEVERAL SERVICE NOTICES TO REPLACE THE SEAT COVERS FOR THE SEATBELT LIGHT REMAINING ON ALSO COMPLAINTS ON THE AIR BAG PROBLEMS NOT JUST ON THE SOLARA BUT ALSO ON JUST THE CAMRY. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH HAS COME ON AND OFF SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. IT NOW IS ON MOST OF THE TIME. AS I UNDERSTAND IT WHEN IT IS ON IT DISABLES THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHICH IS DANGEROUS. THE "BUCKLE SAFETY SWITCH" AMONG OTHER THINGS MAY BE THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA HAS HAD PROBLEMS IN THESE AREAS WITH OTHER MODELS AND MADE RECALLS. THE SAME DEFECTS MAY BE IN OTHER MODELS AND THEY HAVE NOT YET RECALLED OR REPAIRED THE CARS. THEY SHOULD FIX THEIR DEFECTS FOR FREE FAST PRIOR TO SOMEONE GETTING KILLED.TOYOTA JUST WANTS TO CHARGE ME A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, DON'T YOU THINK THIS IS A LITTLE MUCH WHEN AN INOPERATIVE SAFETY SYSTEM WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE COULD END UP IN A LIABILITY SUIT IF SOMETHING DID HAPPEN. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE PARKED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND STAYED ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE SENSORS COULD BE REPROGRAMMED BUT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT WOULD REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIANS STATED IF THE REPROGRAM DID NOT WORK THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,217.
I PURCHASED A 2004 TOYOTA SOLARA SE NEW IN 2004. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH HAS COME ON AND OFF SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. IT NOW IS ON MOST OF THE TIME. AS I UNDERSTAND IT WHEN IT IS ON IT DISABLES THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHICH IS DANGEROUS. THE "BUCKLE SAFETY SWITCH" AMONG OTHER THINGS MAY BE THE PROBLEM. WE OWN A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY, PURCHASED IN OR, REGISTERED IN WA SINCE 2005. WE HAVE HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR RESET AT LEAST 6 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE, BOTH IN OR AND WA. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THESE REPAIRS DONE UNDER WARRANTY. MICHAEL'S TOYOTA IN BELLEVUE HAS STATED THAT THEY "REPLACED" THE SENSOR LAST TIME IT FAILED BUT IT ONCE AGAIN HAS FAILED; WHICH MEANS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. MICHAEL'S TOYOTA'S SERVICE MANAGER HAS STATED THAT THE LAST REPAIR WAS THE LAST ONE THEY WOULD ABSORB. I BELIEVE THIS AIRBAG SENSOR WAS NOT REPLACED AND REMAINS FAULTY; EITHER BY DESIGN OR IN THIS PARTICULAR ONE. I AM BRINGING IT IN FOR ANOTHER REPAIR TOMORROW BUT EXPECT A BATTLE OVER THE COST OF REPAIR BEING ABSORBED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS FAILED AIRBAG SENSOR MEANS DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR ANYONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. SINCE TOYOTA IS HAVING ALL THESE PROBLEMS I WANT TO BRING UP A PROBLEM WITH MY TOYOTA CAMRY THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT HAS NOT CAUSED A PROBLEM YET. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. ABOUT A TWO MONTHS AGO I GOT AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT ON THE CONSOLE THAT TELLS YOU WHETHER THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS MALFUNCTIONING TOO. SO WITH SOMEONE IN THE FRONT RIGHT SEAT, THE INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE SYSTEM THINKS THERE IS NO ONE THERE SO THE AIRBAG IS OFF. I SAID SOMETHING TO THE DEALER BUT HE DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT A RECALL. THERE IS 122K MILES ON THE CAR. MAYBE THIS IS JUST SOME SENSOR THAT WORE OUT BUT I WANTED TO MENTION IT WITH ALL THE OTHER SAFETY ISSUES GOING ON WITH TOYOTA. *JB
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON RT 684 GOING SOUTH TOWARDS WHITE PLAINS WESTCHESTER COUNTY NY, AROUND 6:00 PM, I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE LANE AT 65 MILE SPEED, THEN I WAS CHANGING FROM MIDDLE LANE TO THE LEFT LANE, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE WENT TO IN APPROPRIATE AND UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION AND DRIFTED TO THE MIDDLE ISLAND, THE CAR WAS FORCED TO STOP BY THE SHRUBS AND SMALL TREES. I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR , CALLED 911 , WENT BACK TO MY SEAT AND THE POLICE AND AMBULANCE CAME AND TOOK ME TO NORTHERWESTCHESTER HOSPITAL IN MT KISCO NY. *TR

I HIT A DEER BETWEEN 55 AND 65MPH. I STRUCK THE ANIMAL WITH THE LEFT FRONT, IN THE HEADLIGHT AREA. I WANT TO KNOW WHY THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T GO OFF. THE CAR WAS A 2004 CAMRY. WHILE STOPPED AT A FULL STOP SIGN ANOTHER CAR REARENDED ME DOING ABOUT 55 MILES PER HOUR, PUSHING ME INTO THE CROSS STREET WHERE MY AUTO HIT A STOP SIGN AND POLE TOTALING THE AUTO WITH DAMAGE TO THE REAR,COMPLETE DRIVERS SIDE AND FRONT OF THE AUTO. HITTING THE STOP SIGN AND POLE AT ABOUT 55 MPH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJURY AND BEING TAKEN TO THE TRAUMA CENTER AT UCD MEDICAL CENTER. *TR

ACCIDENT ON MARCH 14TH, 2008. 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY WAS HIT IN PASSANGER DOOR BY CAR GING APPROX. 45 MPH. I WAS THE DRIVER OF THE CAMRY. THE SIDE AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS FAILED TO DELPOY. I SUFFERED SOME BLUNT HEAD TRAMA AND WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 2 DAYS. THE CAMRY WAS TOTALED.

ON 2/17/05 I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH @50MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. A DODGE RAM P/U TRUCK TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AT AN INTERSECTION. I RAN INTO THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK GOING AT LEAST 35 MPH. THE POINT OF CONTACT WAS A FULL FRONTAL IMPACT THAT RESULTED IN AN INOPERABLE VEHICLE THAT WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDIENT. POLICE REPORT LISTED THE VEHICLE AS TOTALED. THE FRONT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT LEFT AIRBAG SENSOR LOCATED ON THE FRAME WAS SHEARED FROM THE WIRING ASSEMBLY. I WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE ACCIDENT IN AN AMBULANCE. MY MOUTH AND THEN MY CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. MY HEAD ALSO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE IMPACT RESULTED IN A BROKEN TOOTH THAT WAS IMBEDDED IN MY CHIN, A LACERATION ON MY CHIN THAT REQUIRED STITCHES, HEAD, ARM, AND LEG ABRASIONS IN ADDITION TO PULLED MUSCLES IN MY NECK AND BACK THAT STILL REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. *AK
ON APRIL 26, 2005, MY DAUGHTER DRIVING A 2004 TOYOTA CAMRY LE (V6) REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE (AN ACURA) AT AN SPEED OF 50+ MPH AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE CAMRY WERE DEPLOYED. DRIVERS OF BOTH CARS WERE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. LATER, I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORP. WHICH HAD ONE OF ITS INSPECTOR INSPECT THE WRECKED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED "THE AIRBAGS OPERATED AS DESIGNED." I HAVE REQUESTED ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS A COPY OF THE INSPECTION REPORT AND OTHER RELATED DOCUMENTS AND MEMOS FROM TOYOTA CORP AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS. IN A MAY 16, 2005, LETTER SENT TO ME BY TOYOTA, THEY HAVE STATED THAT "THE SRS AIRBAGS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO INFLATE IF THE VEHICLE IS SUBJECTED TO A REAR IMPACT, IF IT ROLLS OVER OR IF IT IS INVOLVED IN A LOW SPEED FRONTAL COLLISION." IN REALITY, OUR CAMRY WAS NOT REAR-ENDED, DID NOT ROLL OVER, AND HAD A HIGH SPEED FRONTAL COLLISION OF 50+MPH.
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH A METAL FENCE POLE AT 35 MPH, AND NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WERE NO AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE.*AK
