To the esteemed officials of the US Department of Transportation, My name is [XXX] and I am the owner of a 2015 Toyota Camry SE. I recently had my car repaired for a completely separate issue and while I addressed a problem with the steering, my mechanic made me aware of a 2015 recall for the Electrical Power Steering electronic control unit. I was provided with information regarding it. While my VIN number was not listed as an automobile affected by this issue, it is evident that this is what's occurring. My days have been spent on the phone with the manufacturer and was told numerous times that my VIN number was not identified in said recall. As a result, I was told not to drive my car due to it being a safety concern, meaning I could lose overall control of the car, and I am now lacking transportation. Please advise on how to proceed, I would like to get this matter resolved in a reasonable time. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The steering is loose and rattles. Difficulty with car control over 40 mph. Mechanic said they didn't see a safety issue but there is a broken part in the steering mechanism. No warning lights.
The car start having a small sound like something is loose, and over time the sound is more aggressive Steering column problem was been confirmed by a independent service center And the call was made to one of the Toyota centers asking for any recalls for that problem the car is having , and a prize for the part, they give the information that lately they already repair a hundred cars with the same problem !! Imaging the risk of that steering column represent The car has low miles
When the battery voltage is low, the power steering is loose. It becomes difficult to steer.
?The steering wheel buttons not woeking I can't see my speed limit and I can't hunk the whole thing is not working, , it is a safety issue I contacted them they will not change it for me, they said there is no recalls. but when I goolged it there is alot of peaple habe the same problem.
When traveling down the road, the car veers to the left and I must keep turning the steering wheel to the right to correct the pulling. Usually happens when the engine is cold, but is intermittent. Happens two-three time per month. I once brought to dealer while happening, but they found no issues. They kept the vehicle overnight but couldn’t repeat the problem. A week later it started pulling to the left again. I asked dealer if others had the same problem, they knew of none.
The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving, the steering wheel was pulling to the right. The contact called the local dealer where an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
The steering wheel veers hard to the right and is very loose, uncontrollable, and inconsistent. In a situation that would require rapid response, this malfunction would make it dangerous because you lose the precise and responsive steering functions necessary to maneuver accurately. This has happened about six different times and seems random. It will disappear when I turn off the car. The vehicle has not been inspected for the problem. There were no warning lamps or other indicators.
Pulls hard to the left at times at speeds less than 40 mph It is an intermittent problem Not caused by tires or wheels - they have been changed

RECENTLY WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A SOFT STEERING RESPONSE, AND THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY VEERS TO THE RIGHT (AT ANY SPEED). WEIRDLY THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT HAS BEEN SPORADIC, BUT MORE AND MORE FREQUENT. THE MOST RECENT WAS ON 1/19/21. SURPRISINGLY AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF, AND THEN ON AGAIN, THE ISSUE DISAPPEARED COMPLETELY. OUR BIGGEST FEAR IS IF THIS ERRATIC STEERING ISSUE WERE TO SUDDENLY START ACTING UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. OUR CAMRY WAS PURCHASED IN DEC'14, AND WE HAVE NOTICED THERE WERE A RECALL FOR SOME CAMRYS' OF THAT YEAR. COULD OUR CAMRY BATCH HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES, HOWEVER THE PROBLEMS NOT AS APPARENT AS THOSE ALREADY RECALLED? PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS STEERING ISSUES SEEM TO BE THE TOP PROBLEM FOR THE 2015 CAMRY ON CARPROBLEMZOO.COM, AND MANY PEOPLE ARE ALSO NOTING THE SAME DEFECT BUT THEIR CAR'S VIN IS NOT ON ANY RECALL LIST. THIS COINCIDENCE SEEM QUITE HIGH ESPECIALLY FOR A YEAR WITH STEERING PROBLEM RECALLS, BUT SOMEHOW ONLY COVERING CERTAIN VINS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,200.
NORMAL STEERING WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN STEERING GOES SOFT AND VEERS TO THE RIGHT. CHECKED AIR PRESSURE REPORTING NORMAL. WOULD HAPPEN INTERMITTENT DURING THE FORTY MINUTE DRIVE. THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE.
VEHICLE WILL ABRUPTLY STEER TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE IN MOTION. DOESN'T MATTER IF ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF WILL SOMETIMES CORRECT THE ISSUE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 66K MILES.
CAR SPORADICALLY PULLS TO THE LEFT WHETHER OR NOT I AM TURNING. AFTER IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND THEN CAR STARTED, CAR DRIVES NORMALLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED 5 OR 6 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS FOR AN ELECTRONIC STEERING COMPONENT, BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THIS IS ALSO STATED BY MANY OTHER OWNERS ONLINE..
THE WHEEL STARTS PULLING RIGHT AND THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL. ALSO VERY HARD TO TURN WITH A POPPING NOISE THEN WENT BACK TO NORMAL. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS MORE OFTEN AND ONLY WANTS TO TURN RIGHT. IT ALSO DOES IT ON MAIN STREETS HIGHWAY ETC OFF AND ON SEEMS DANGEROUS.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE VEHICLE STARTS TURNING TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT , EVERY SO OFTEN. DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TRIP ,BUT ENOUGH TO REALIZE THERE IS A PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING STARTED PULLING TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT. ALIGNMENT, OUTER, INNER TIE RODS, LOWER AND UPPER BALL JOINTS AND STRUT MOUNTS ALL CHECKED NORMAL. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR CODES. CAR GOES STRAIGHT AFTER TURNING OFF AND BACK BUT CAN SUDDENLY START PULLING. CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND CAR VIN IS NOT PART OF CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000 (STEERING) WHICH IS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY PULLED TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GERMAIN TOYOTA OF NAPLES (13315 TAMIAMI TRAIL N, NAPLES, FL 34110) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS NOTIFIED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,700.
NOISE WHEN STEERING FROM STANDING STOP.
CAR PULLS SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT AFTER STARTING UP AND DRIVING. IF I STOP AND TURN OF THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE CAR IT WILL RUN PROPERLY. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN IF I PARK THE CAR AND HAVE THE WHEELS TURNED TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT AS WHEN YOU ARE ON A HILL. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL I REALIZED I COULD CORRECT THE PULLING BY STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WITH THE WHEELS POINTING STRAIGHT.THE 2015 CAMRY HAS A RECALL ON THE STEERING ISSUE (#15V144000) BUT TOYOTA MANUFACTURER STATES THAT MY VIN # ISN'T COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS (50+) ON LINE AND WITH BLUEBOOK ON THE SAME ISSUE. I DON'T SEE ANY INVESTIGATION ON THIS ISSUE ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. MAYBE THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. IF I PAY TOYOTA TO FIX THE ISSUE AND A RECALL IS ISSUED IS TOYOTA REQUIRED TO REIMBURSE ME? THE PROBLEM STARTED SPORADICALLY IN MARCH 2020 BUT MORE OFTEN NOW. WITH COVID-19 I HAVEN'T BEEN DRIVING REGULARLY.
