TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE DEALER ADJUSTED THE STEERING TORQUE, BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY COROLLA STEERING GOT JAMMED SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS IN THE TRAFFIC & I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR EITHER WAYS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, SHE ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT BUT THE STEERING WHEEL PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THAT CAUSED BOTH OF THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRES TO BECOME LIFTED OFF THE GROUND. AS RESULT, THE VEHICLE FLIPPED ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60MPH ON INTERSTATE DRIVING, VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS BEING BLOWN ALL OVER THE ROAD. VERY HARD TO KEEP VEHICLE CENTERED IN LANE EVEN ON NON WINDY DRY CONDITION DAYS. SOMETHING IN STEERING SEEMS TO BE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. VEHICLE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE ABOVE 60MPH ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. VEHICLE SEEMS TO BLOW TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT AND VERY HARD TO STAY IN LANE. *TR
I TEST DROVE A NEW 2012 TOYOTA COROLLA LE TODAY AND WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THAT, AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (65 MPH), THE STEERING DID NOT TRACK WELL (LIKES TO DRIFT SIDEWAYS, BUT ONLY SLIGHTLY) AND MY CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTIONS SEEMED TO JERK THE VEHICLE (AND DRIVER) SIDE TO SIDE SLIGHTLY. THE SLIGHTEST STEERING CORRECTIONS CAUSED MY BODY TO JERK SLIGHTLY WITH THE CAR (MAYBE IT'S CAUSED BY A TIGHT SUSPENSION COMBINED WITH TIGHT STEERING). THIS JERKING WAS NOT A COMFORTABLE FEELING. YOU NEED TO BE "VERY" STEADY ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID WHAT SEEMS TO ME LIKE THE CAR'S OVERCORRECTIVE STEERING. I TRIED TO BE AS STEADY AS I POSSIBLY COULD AND KEPT IT UNDER REASONABLE CONTROL AND WAS REASONABLY COMFORTABLE, BUT IN MY OPINION, THIS CAR HAS SOME STEERING "PROBLEMS" (STEERING IS TOO RESPONSIVE AND POSSIBLY OVERCORRECTS). WHEN I GOT TO A TOLL BOOTH OFF RAMP, I WAS LEANING OVER AND REACHING FOR MY WALLET WHEN I OVERCORRECTED THE STEERING AND IT SCARED ME "A LOT." THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. AT LOWER SPEEDS THE COROLLA SEEMED TO STEER OK. I OWN A 99 BUICK AND HAVE NEVER FELT THIS JERKY/OVERCORRECTIVE STEERING. I ALSO TEST DROVE A 2012 HONDA CIVIC AND DID NOT NOTICE ANY KIND OF STEERING PROBLEM LIKE THE COROLLA'S, ALTHOUGH EVEN THE CIVIC HAD FASTER STEERING RESPONSE THAN MY 99 BUICK AND I HAD TO GET USED TO IT. I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH EITHER COMPANY AND MY COMMENTS HERE ARE FACT. ONE CONCERN THAT I HAVE IS WHEN THE ROAD IS ICY OR COVERED WITH SNOW, I WOULD WORRY THAT THE JERKING COULD BREAK THE TIRES FREE FROM A SLIPPERY SURFACE AND CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A RUBBING NOISE WHILE IT WAS TURNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE THAT NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,250 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I REPORT THIS ISSUE. I LOGGED 1,500MILES ROUNDTRIP FROM HOUSTON TO EL PASO. THIS IS ALSO THE 4TH LONGEST TRIP I HAVE TAKEN IN THIS CAR. THE PROBLEM IS THE STEERING IS DANGEROUS OVER 65+ MPH! THE FRONT END OF THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT FLOATS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE ZERO FEELING OF THE ROAD FROM MY HANDS TO THE WHEELS. THE CAR TRACKS AND NEVER STAYS TRUE ON THE ROAD. THIS IS CONSTANT AND NOT INTERMITTENT WHICH MEANS I AM FOCUSING MORE ON THE STEERING ISSUE THEN ON THE TRAFFIC. I AM EITHER OVERCOMPENSATING FOR ANY SLIGHT MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO BARELY TOUCHING THE WHEEL TO KEEP THIS CAR REMOTELY DRIVING STRAIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE LANE, AND THAT DOESN'T HELP! IT WORSENS AT SPEEDS OF 75+MPH. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT! PLEASE RECALL THIS EPS SYSTEM NOW!!! *TR
