Check engine light has came on. Code p107b which is what the recall for this vehicle year has but doesnt incude my vin.
Vehicle just turned 12,000 miles. When fueling the vehicle gas gauge does not read correctly. This may cause an unexpected loss of control and accident if out of gas when driving. Vehicle has not yet been to the dealer for repair but going soon. As far as I can determine there are no warning lamps for a faulty fuel gauge.
lost power 3 times - each time making a left hand turn at low speed -Nov.23 2023 -- Dec. 20 2023 & Jan, 30 2024 Groove Toyota checked vehicle out on Dec.21 2023 couldn't find problem - took it to Groove Toyota again on Jan. 31 2024 - told to make another appointment to allow full day of testing - safety concern for family and other traffic - no warning prior to loss of power
Driving on 495 N Beltway car started stalling and then suddenly stopped accelerating/decelerating while engine was running. Almost was rear ended by fast moving traffic. Carefully glided to the shoulder and called Tow Tuck Incident on 12/18/2023
I went out into my garage 3:30 in the morning and heard a motor running very faintly tried tracking down the noise finally located under the car at the rear. It was the fuel pump running. I went in. got my key started the vehicle let it run about a half a minute shut it off. The noise was gone. I’m worried about this pump running for hours or possibly days then catching the car on fire the garage and the house I know there have been issues. With fuel pumps in these Toyotas, but I haven’t found this particular problem online. Possibly there may be a problem with the fuel pump relay?
Temporary Loss off Power: After driving about 100 miles we stopped for a 15 minute break. Afterwards I started the car and to my surprise the engine was running but I had no power. I was able to coast down a slight grade to avoid other vehicles in the parking lot. I stopped the car, put it in Park (P), put it back in Drive (D) and was able to drive as before. We purchased this vehicle in September of 2018. It has slightly over 14K miles. This has happened at least once before.
My wife was going to pick our kids up for school and was on a 60mph highway when the check engine light came on and the vehicle slowed down to 30mph in heavy traffic. She was able to maneuver off the road and get to safety. We took the vehicle to the dealership where they replaced the 3 fuel injectors for $1900. Vehicle has 38,000 miles. With such low miles and the fact that this happened on a highway in my opinion this is a major safety concern.
My car continues to stall/become powerless while driving even after replacing the low-pressure fuel pump as part of the earlier safety recall On Oct/28 2021by the dealer. The same problem started re-occurring once two weeks ago and again twice today while driving on busy road. It is a safety issue, my car has driven only 17k miles. I have visited the dealer last week and reported the issue and requested to check the fault code and ascertain the fault. They have expressed their inability to do it and said, the car is out of warranty. I think the problem is beyond the fuel pump or the work was not done in a proper workmanship manner.
We purchased our brand new Toyota from the dealership in July of 2019. We used the dealership for every scheduled maintenance and maintained updated contact information the whole time. On August 6, 2021 when we were approximately 100 miles from home our car stalled abruptly in the middle of an intersection. The car was not driveable so we called a tow truck and we’re able to obtain a rental car. The car was towed to the nearest dealership which informed us the problem was due to a recalled faulty fuel pump. ( The first we had ever heard of the recall) The dealership fixed the car free of charge but denied us twice when we asked for approximately $450. 00 in reimbursement charges for the tow truck and car rental. We finally received a notice concerning the very long ongoing recall on or about September 2, 2021. We feel Toyota possibly knew about the dangerous recall when they sold us the car in July 2019. Thankfully it happened just as we were leaving a red light and no one was coming through the intersection, so no crash occurred
VEHICLE HAD A PROLONGED HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO MOVING TRAFFIC WHILE RAMPING ONTO THE INTERSTATE. AFTER THE HESITATION THE VEHICLE THEN SURGED INTO TRAFFIC.
I was driving my car on a major intersection. The light turned green and I proceeded to make a left turn onto a major street. As I made it onto the street a warning came up that said "Hybrid system malfunction" and my car immediately started decelerating even though I had the gas pushed. I was able to sway to the right into a parking lot and stop the car before it stopped. My daughter was in the back seat at the time when the car failed and since we were in the middle of accelerating to get onto the major street when the car started decelerating, the cars behind me had to hit brakes/change lanes. I had the car towed to the closest Toyota dealership. They diagnosed it as a failed fuel pump. I looked up the issue and saw that Toyota had a recall on fuel pumps. I told them I wanted the improved fuel pump replacement. They informed me that my car was a Toyota Highlander Hybrid and my fuel pump was different than the recalled Toyota Highlander fuel pump and was not on recall. They replaced the failed fuel pump with the same product and assured me that the car was safe to drive and my fuel pump just failed and was not on recall.
While driving approximately 70mph on an interstate, lost ability to accelerate. Car started to slow down, forcing us to stop. Very fortunate no one was behind us or we would have been rear-ended. Multiple warning lights came on at this point, including the check engine light, AWD malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction and hybrid system malfunction. Contacted Toyota dealership immediately and slowly drove the car to dealership. Upon inspection, was told that the fuel pump failed. Was also told that the problem is a recall issue for other Toyota models but not for the Hylander. Car is now at dealership being repaired.
In the morning of 6/15/2021 while driving the 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in 90+ degree heat on a busy Denver suburb thoroughfare, the Denso fuel pump failed causing multiple malfunction messages to be displayed and the engine to stall placing the SUV and me in a very unsafe situation in traffic. The SUV was partially in traffic because a curb prevented me from driving the vehicle out of traffic and the fail safe mode did not allow me to drive to a cross street to get the SUV out of traffic. Fortunately, a police squad arrived, parked behind me with emergency lights flashing until the tow truck arrived. The SUV was taken to a nearby Toyota dealer where Toyota service personnel in conjunction with Toyota engineering determined the Denso fuel pump was the problem and was replaced. Toyota has the Denso fuel pump. Moments before the SUV stalled multiple malfunction messages started being displayed including but not limited to: check engine light see dealer, pre-collision system malfunction, AWD system malfunction, Hybrid System malfunction, etc.
FUEL PUMP RECALL WAS APPARENTLY IN EFFECT WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2020. DEALER (RIVERVIEW TOYOTA, MESA AZ) SCHEDULED SERVICE FOR THE RECALL IN OCTOBER 2020. AFTER DROPPING OFF THE VEHICLE, ASST SERVICE MANAGER CALLS TO INFORM ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART AND DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. I DRIVE MY THREE GRANDDAUGHTERS 5 DAYS A WEEK AND I MORE THAN CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE STILL REMAINS UNRESOLVED!
RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR FUEL PUMP, AND REPLACEMENT IS NOT YET AVAILABLE. TOYOTA STATES THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE BY END OF FEBRUARY / EARLY MARCH. WE HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO ALLOW US TO RETURN THE VEHICLE BUT THEY WILL NOT BECAUSE THE CURRENT VALUE IS LESS THAN WHAT IS OWED. WE HAVE ASKED TOYOTA MANUFACTURER TO ACCEPT THE VEHICLE AS A RETURN WITH NO NEGATIVE BALANCE (WE HAVE ALREADY PAID ON THIS VEHICLE FOR 14 MONTHS). THEY STATE THE PROBLEM WILL BE REPAIRED AND THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE RECALL STATES THE CAR CAN STOP AT ANY TIME AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED, WITH OR WITHOUT WARNING. OUR VEHICLE HAS HESITATION AND THAT IS ONE OF THE SYMPTOMS NOTED IN THE RECALL. WE DO NOT WANT TO WAIT ANY LONGER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED, AND WE DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR A VEHICLE WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING. WE HAVE AN ARBITRATION MEETING WITH TOYOTA HOWEVER, I WAS READING THE WARRANTY AND IT SAYS TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOU. CAN YOU HELP US GET THIS RESOLVED IN A TIMELY MANNER?
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON THE RECALL LIST SINCE JANUARY 2020, BUT TOYOTA STILL HAS NOT ISSUED ME A NOTICE TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THEY CONTINUE TO SAY OVER THE PHONE THAT THEY HAVE NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. THEY SHOULD ISSUE THE NOTICE SO I CAN GET THE PUMP REPLACED BEFORE THE TRANS ON THE HIGHWAY. SO FAR I HAVE NOT HAD A MALFUNCTION.
VEHICLE RAN WELL FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS BUT STARTED HESITATING, REDUCED THROTTLE RESPONSE AND JUMPING FORWARD ONCE GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED FURTHER. HESITATION FELT IN STEERING WHEEL AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTING IRREGULAR. NOTHING ON COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS, THEREFORE NOTHING WRONG ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP. HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION.
RECEIVED NOTICE FROM TOYOTA, VEHICLE MAY STALL WHILE DRIVING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH..IAM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS ON A HIGHWAY, ARE THEY SUPPOSE TO GIVE YOU A LOANER? NO ACCIDENTS YET
MY VEHICLE WAS UNDER RECALL NO. 20V-012 SINCE MARCH OF THIS YEAR. I CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AT LEAST TWICE TO ASK ABOUT IT & WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO FIX FOR IT AT THE TIMES I INQUIRED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN A FIX WAS AVAILABLE. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE. ON 9/15/20 I WAS MAKING A TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A CITY STREET WHEN THE CAR BEGAN HESITATING & MADE ONLY HALTING MOVEMENTS. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND ABOUT 3-4 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A LOW FUEL PRESSURE MESSAGE & A MESSAGE TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PUT ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS & SLOWLY LIMP INTO ANOTHER ENTRANCE TO THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME THE FOLLOWING DAY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP THAT WAS UNDER RECALL & THEY JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE THE PARTS NEEDED FOR REPAIR. GREAT. GLAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED. MY QUESTION IS...WHY DIDN'T I EVER GET A NOTICE THAT A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM WAS AVAILABLE? IT WOULD HAVE BE NICE TO AVOID THE HAZARDOUS EVENT THAT OCCURRED. I HOPE THAT TOYOTA WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE & NOTIFY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. PLUS, 6 MONTHS TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION FOR A RECALL REPAIR SEEMS EXTRAORDINARY LONG.
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, 07/17/2020 AND 07/29/2020, MY VEHICLE CUT OFF/STALLED AFTER I HAVE ACCELERATED FROM A STOP LIGHT. AFTER I REACHED THE SPEED OF ABOUT 15 MPH AND THEN FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE ENGINE SHUT OFF FOR 3-4 SECONDS WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL DEPRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. THEN JUST AS SUDDEN, THE ENGINES POWER COMES BACK ON AND JERKS ALL PASSENGERS BACK IN THEIR SEATS.I NEVER TOUCHED THE BRAKE DURING BOTH OCCURRENCES.THE BOTH TIMES IT HAPPENED I WAS ON A MULTI LANE CITY STREET.THE ISSUE HERE IS THAT BY MY VEHICLE STOPPING SUDDENLY WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE MY BRAKE TAIL LIGHTS WILL NOT WARN THE DRIVER BEHIND ME, AND HE MAY IF HE IS NOT PAYING ATTENTION REAR END MY VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STANDING START THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AND IMMEDIATELY HESITATE BEFORE ACCELERATING AND OPERATING AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED AFTER THE RECALL REMEDY WAS PERFORMED FOR THE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 20V012000(FUEL SYSTEM). THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE DEALER TOYOTA OF SARASOTA LOCATE AT 7435 TAMIAMI TRAIL SARASOTA FL. AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,250.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN BALTIMORE, MD ON VACATION AT ABOUT 35 MPH HAVING JUST CONE AROUND A BLIND CURVE MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART, GOT MULTIPLE MALFUNCTIONS ON THE DISPLAY. WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING IN A LANE OF TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER IT SHUT OFF. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE NON-HYBRID HAD A RECALL BUT SINCE WE HAVE A HYBRID IT ONLY HAS A TSB SO IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL 20V012000 EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD BE AS THE ENTIRE GASOLINE FUEL SYSTEM IS THE SAME. I LOOKED UP THE RECALL INFORMATION AND THE HAZARD DESCRIBED HAPPENED TO ME EXCEPT WE DIDN'T CRASH.
GAS SPILLING AFTER FUEL PUMP RECALL*** EVER SINCE FUEL PUMP RECALL WAS DONE ON 08/15/2020, THE CAR IS LEAVING ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN I FILL MY GAS TANK IN THE GAS STATION AND IT'S SPILLING OUT GAS EVEN AFTER THE PUMP NOZZLE CUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENED TWICE ( ACTUALLY 3 TIMES) AND STARTED ONLY AFTER THIS RECALL WAS DONE. LAST NIGHT (9/6/2020) WHEN I WAS FILLING GAS IN A GAS STATION ABOUT 50 MILES FROM HOME, IT DID SPRAYOUT/SPILLED A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS ( ALMOST HALF GALLON ) INTO THE GROUND LEAVING ME IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SO I DROVE BACK TO WHERE I LIVE AND WENT INTO A SONOCO TO CONFIRM THE ISSUE. THIS TIME THE GAS GOT SPILLED EVEN AFTER THE PUMP NOZZLE CUT OFF AND STOPPED PUMPING. ALMOST A QUARTER GALLON GAS SPILLED OUT. WHEN IT HAPPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON AUGUST 24TH (08/24/2020) WHEN I FILLED THE GAS FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER THIS RECALL I DIDN'T QUITE REALIZE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND FOR SURE IT WAS MY CAR. AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK IN THE GAS STATION I FELT MY SHOES WERE SLEEPY AND I COULD FEEL GAS ON THE GROUND. NEXT DAY MORNING I STARTED SMELLING GAS AND WENT TO SEE THE BACK OF THE CAR AND I COULD SEE SOME DROPS. APPARENTLY THAT WAS LIQUID GAS DROPPING OFF BEING THE TANK STILL FULL.
TOYATA ISSUED A RECALL FOR A FAULTY LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IN MAY BUT HAS NOT REPLACED IT IN MY CAR.
DEALER NOTIFIED ME OF A FUEL PROBLEM IN JANUARY AND STILL NOT FIX BY END OF JUNE--CAR STALLS AND RUNS BADLY AT LOW SPEEDS OR STOPPED AT LIGHT. *TR
