TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE AIR BAGS; HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE CSA RECALL WAS ISSUED OVER A MONTH AGO AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENING. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS NOT DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER. I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED AN PROBLEM WITH THE CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG IN MY PRIUS, BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT. I COULD HAVE AND THERE'S NO INDICATION OF WHEN THE REMEDY WILL BE AVAILABLE. I'M AN ATTORNEY AND I THINK THEY'RE ASKING FOR A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT. I DIDN'T ENTER MY PHONE NUMBER BECAUSE THAT'S PRIVATE. I CONTACTED TOYOYA 7/26 BUT HAVEN'T RECEIVED A RESPONSE. AGAIN, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE THE CONTACT'S BROTHER IN-LAW WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED THE VEHICLE TOTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,290.
A DRIVER MADE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF MY CAR AND I HIT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OF HIS SUV. MY FRONT END WAS TOTALED OUT. I RECEIVED A NECK AND HEAD INJURY AS WELL AS A SHOULDER AND HAND. HAD MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED LIKE THEY WERE DESIGNED TO MY INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN MINIMIZED. *TR
ON FRIDAY, JAN. 16, 2014 MY HUSBAND MADE A RIGHT HAD TURN FROM A STOP SIGN ONTO A ROAD IN TOLEDO, OH. AN ONCOMING VEHICLE DID NOT SEE HIM AND TURNED INTO THE FRONT DRIVES SIDE SMASHING THE DOOR INTO MY HUSBAND. HIS HEAD WENT THROUGH THE WINDOW AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. OUR FRAME WAS SMASHED, DOOR SMASHED, FRONT TIRE BENT IN, DASHBOARD WAS BOWED AND BROKEN, FRONT, SMALL SIDE, AND MAIN DRIVERS SIDE WINDOWS BROKEN. THE CAR WAS FOUND TO BE A TOTAL LOSE, MY HUSBAND HAD TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION, BUT MY MAIN QUESTIONS IS WHY DID THE SIDE AIR BAG NOT DEPLOY 02/05/15*LJ UPDATED 6/9/2015 *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AFTER ANOTHER DRIVER CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE IF THE PASSENGERS OCCUPYING THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 11/21/14*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE OF THE AIRBAGS WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. UPDATED 5/5/2015 *JS
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT AT 6:45 AM. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR AT 3:45 PM, I FOUND THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED SOMETIME THAT DAY. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF COLLISION OR IMPACT. THE CAR WAS DIRTY, AND THE DUST HAD NOT BEEN DISTURBED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS 227 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY FOR THE AIRBAG (AT 60,227 MILES TOTAL). THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND NO ERROR CODE OR REASON FOR THE AIRBAG TO HAVE DEPLOYED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND HAVE NOT YET BEEN GIVEN ANY INDICATION OF HOW THEY WILL HANDLE THE INCIDENT, THOUGH I WAS QUIZZED EXTENSIVELY. THE COST TO REPAIR THE EXTENSIVE INTERIOR DAMAGE TO THE CAR IS $3000. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS FROM RAHAL TOYOTA, [XXX] ON 07/02/2011. CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN 03/2011. ON 07/17/2011 A CAR MADE AN ILLEGAL LEFT TURN DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF US AND THE FRONT OF THE PRIUS STRUCK THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE OTHER CAR AT APPROX. 45 MPH. THE PRIUS AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE ENGINE/ HYBRID SYSTEM CONTINUED TO RUN. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL REPORTED THAT THEY HAD JUST TAKEN A CLASS ON HYBRID CARS AND SAID THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND THE COMPUTER SHOULD HAVE SHUT THE CAR DOWN AS SOON AS THE IMPACT OCCURRED. DAMAGE TO THE OTHER CAR WAS VERY SEVERE. DAMAGE TO THE PRIUS SEEMS TO BE FOCUSED ON THE RIGHT FRONT, BUT INVOLVES THE ENTIRE FRONT.
