TIRE SEEMED OUT OF BALANCE AT NARROW RANGE OF SPEEDS (60-65MPH), BUT SMOOTH AT 68MPH FOR MONTHS; RECENTLY NOTICED VEHICLE ROCKING WHEN COLD AND AT LOW SPEEDS; TODAY SAW AN OUTWARD BULGE IN REAR TIRE TREAD (DIRECTIONALLY OUTWARD FROM AXLE). AM SEEKING A REPLACEMENT TIRE BEFORE TREAD SEPARATION. *TR
I PURCHASED 2 COOPER LIFELINER TOURING SLE SIZE 215/ 65R-15. THEY COMPLETE UNRAVELED WITHIN ONE WEEK OF EACH OTHER. ONE WAS REPLACED AS MY DAUGHTER WAS HEADED ON A 350 MILE TRIP BACK TO HER COLLEGE TOWN, AND THE OTHER I STILL HAVE DISINTERGRATED ON HER WAY HOME FROM COLLEGE. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF THEY WERE ON THE FRONT INSTEAD OF THE BACK. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT IT CAME APART RIGHT DOWN TO THE STEEL BELT. *JB
MICHELIN HYDROEDGE TIRE: TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE FOR THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE TIRE ON A PASSENGER VAN. TIRE WAS PROPERLY INFLATED JUST 4 WEEKS AGO WHEN ONE OF THE TIRES WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF A PREVIOUS ROAD HAZARD. NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE SINCE THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY REMOVE THE VEHICLE FROM LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE ROAD SHOULDER. THERE DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE ANY DAMAGE (ROAD HAZARD) TO THE TIRE. *JB
ON MAY 24, 2004, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR TOYOTA SIENNA VAN NORTH ON I-35 IN OKLAHOMA AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND THE TREAD SEPARATED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AND ALL OTHER TIRES CHECKED FOR WEAR. ON JULY 17, 2004 I WAS DRIVING THE SAME VAN ON I-44 IN OKLAHOMA AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE'S TREAD SEPARATED AND WENT FLAT. THERE WAS NO ROAD HAZARD ENCOUNTERED AT ETIHER EVENT. *AK
HAD A RIGHT REAR TIRE (FIRESTONE F 680) DELAMINATE WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING A 1998 TOYOTA SIENNA LE. TIRE WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, HAD 35,000 MILES, AND WAS PROPERLY INFLATED (CHECKED NIGHT BEFORE INCIDENT). RESULT OF TREAD DELAMINATION WAS LOSS OF REAR WHEEL WELL COVER AND DAMAGE TO REAR BUMPER. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING FRONT DRIVERS SIDE LEFT TIRE BLEWOUT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NLM THERE WAS SEVERE VIBRATION AND CONSUMER FOUND THAT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE TREAD HAD SEPARATED. AFTER TRAVELING ANOTHER 65 MILES THERE WAS SEVERE VIBRATION AND THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD TREAD SEPARATION. *TT

FIRESTONE FR680, P205/70R15, DOT UNKNOWN, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 1998, TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 28000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH, REAR PASSENGER TIRE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION. REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS ALSO SHOWING SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATION.*AKJG
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE ON THE SIDE WALL CONTAINED 3 LARGE SPLITS, RANGING FROM 1-2 INCHES. THE OTHER 3 TIRES HAD STARTED TO CRACK AT THE SIDE WALLS. CONSUMER REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. TS *JB

LEFT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR FIRESTONE AFFINITY TIRES SIZE: P215/65R15, EXPERIENCED BLOWOUTS WITH APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES ON THEM ON A 1998, TOYOTA, SIENNA. *AK FIRST BLOWOUT OCCURRED IN THE TREAD OF THE TIRE, THE SECOND BLOWOUT OCCURRED IN THE SIDEWALL, CONSUMER STATES THEY EXPERIENCED SEVERAL PUNCTURES IN THE TIRES PRIOR TO THE BLOWOUTS, DOT NUMBER W2VFA1A160. *SLC
CATASTROPHIC TIRE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. TIRES NOT UNDER-INFLATED. TIRE EXPLOSIVELY SEPARATED (BELT AND CARCASS) CAUSING VIOLENT FEEDBACK TO STEERING.. NO WRECK DUE TO LUCK; NO TURNOVER SOLELY DUE TO LOW PROFILE OF VEHICLE. TIRE NOW LOOKS THE SAME AS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FIRESTONE TIRES. REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES WITH OTHER BRAND. THE LEFT REAR TIRE WENT FLAT AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR. I FOUND THE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE (THE SIDE FACING IN TOWARDS THE CAR) HAD SPLIT IN 4 PLACES. THE TIRE CAME WITH THE CAR AT TIME OF PURCHASE AND THERFORE ONLY HAD 21100 MILES LOGGED ON TO THE TIRE.
