Truck won’t pass inspection frame is rusted out like so many other 2006 Tundras. Some web searches showed this year was covered on recalls. In 2015 had a recall for corrosion on frame .. you mean RUST! However those don’t show up as recalls.. WHY? How do all of us affected do another class action law suit? Truck has 147,239 miles way too young to be no good! Can’t afford another car! Hey TOYOTA GIVE US KELLY BLUE BOOK AROUND 7000 or fix the frame! Any lawyers or news contact me! The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH and making a left turn, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the front driver’s side of the vehicle lowered unintendedly. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front driver’s side lower ball joint had separated from the knuckle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 07V013000 (Suspension). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.
My 2006 Toyota has holes rusted through the frame in more than one location
Purchased this vehicle last year was told and confirmed the frame was sprayed..this year holes and rot...Toyota is NOT backing a limited time warranty/recall..I was told that if many complain this agency may be able to do something for the consumer /taxpayer....
My vehicle was subject to a frame corrosion Limited Service Campaign. I brought the vehicle in for inspection and was advised there we 2 options: Frame replacement or Corrosion-Resistant Compound treatment. The dealership advised the vehicle did not qualify for frame replacement, and opted to apply CRC. The CRC application was performed June 11, 2014. I have documentation. I was recently advised by my mechanic that the gas tank straps are failing, and they cannot replace them due to corroded frame. The cross member requires total replacement due to extensive frame rotting. I believe that if Toyota had done the responsible thing as part of the recall, and replaced the frame instead of applying CRC, this issue would not occur today. I would respectfully like to request the NHTSA look into this matter.
9/28 Took vehicle into shop to get wheel alignment done, but was told frame was too rusty and to call Toyota because they had a frame recall. 10/15 gas tank strap & bolt rusted off, gas tank is hanging low. 11/19 bolts are coming through truckbed. 12/13 called Toyota about frame rust and the frame rust warranty being extended to 15 years.
The truck had a frame recall and the frame was sprayed in accordance with the recall in 2014. The frame continued to rust badly and the welded bracket for the sway bar broke free of the frame while driving.
Passenger side front Ball joint failed when driving on interstate. Oil change and service was last done 2/24/21 mileage was 192943. I also sent all the information to Toyota.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS HAD STARTED TO WEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, AFTER COMPLETING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED NOR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED IN, AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V013000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE FRAME A FEW YEARS AGO, I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER AT THE TIME , THEY INSPECTED IT AND SAID THE FRAME WAS FINE, THEY CLEANED IT AND PERFORMED AN UNDERCOATING. I RECENTLY WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR AN ALIGNMENT, THE ALIGNMENT WOULD NOT HOLD AND THEY BROKE A BRAKE LINE. WHEN THE DEALER WENT TO PRICE OUT THE BRAKE LINE THEY DISCOVERED THE FRAME WAS ALL ROTTED OUT AND WOULD NOT REPAIR THE LINE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO PUT ON A LIFT DO TO THE FRAME ROT. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE RECALL ON THE FRAME HAD EXPIRED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. THE DEALER PROVIDED THE 800 NUMBER FOR TOYOTA, I CALLED THEM AND RECEIVED THE SAME INFO, THE TIME PERIOD FOR THE FRAME RECALL EXPIRED. I DID WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO IN THE TIME FRAME, I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN AND TOLD THE FRAME WAS FINE. ALL THE UNDERCOATING THEY DID ONLY MASKED THE ISSUE . THE FRAME IS NOW ALL ROTTED ONLY A FEW YEARS LATER AND TOYOTA WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FIX IT. HOW DOES A FRAME GO FROM BEING INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND TOLD IT IS FINE TO A POINT WHERE THE DEALER WILL NOT PUT IT ON A LIFT BECAUSE OF THE ROT IN JUST A FEW YEARS? THE DEALER PROVIDED THE PICTURES OF THE ROT.
THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT THE FRAMES ON TUNDRAS RUSTING. MY WAS NOT REPLACED, IT WAS JUST UNDERCOATED. THE FRAME IS RUSTING UNDER THE COATING AND THE COATING IS FALLING OFF. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ALSO CALLED TOYOTA. BOTH WOULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THE FRAME FAILED BUT TOLD ME TO CALL TOYOTA, WITCH I DID. TOYOTA TOLD ME THE TIME HAD RUN OUT ON THAT RECALL. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY AND SHOULD HAVE HAD A FRAME REPLACMENT.
FRONT BALL JOINT BROKE IN HALF WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT
THE UPPER BALL JOINT FAILED 16 DAYS AFTER THE ANNUAL INSPECTION. MY SON DROVE OVER A SPEED BUMP IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX AND THE DRIVER-SIDE FRONT WHEEL FOLDED UNDER THE CAR. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND TOLD THEM THEY SHOULD RECALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PART BECAUSE OF THE CATASTROPHIC NATURE OF THE FAILURE. THEY DISMISSED IT AND CLAIMED "...WE DO NOT SHOW ANY RECALLS OR OTHER SUPPORT PROGRAMS APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE." JUST A FEW HOURS BEFORE THIS PART FAILED, MY SON HAD BEEN HELPING FRIENDS MOVE. HE HAD BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WITH THREE PASSENGERS IN HIS TRUCK AND THE BED OF THE TRUCK FULL OF FURNITURE. PEOPLE COULD HAVE DIED. WE WERE NEVER INFORMED OF THIS RECALL BY TOYOTA AND HAVE LITERALLY BEEN DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $2,113.71 - NOT INCLUDING THE BODY DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED FROM DRAGGING THE TRUCK ONTO THE TOW TRUCK PLATFORM.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE BALL JOINTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 179,383.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AXLE AREA WAS RUSTED WITH HOLES PRESENT. IN 2015, THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY KRAMER TOYOTA IN PORT CHARLOTTE, FL AND NO RUST WAS FOUND. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE LINES, CONTROL ARM, STEERING RACK, AND BALL JOINTS WERE ALL REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE FAILURES WERE NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
TAKATA RECALL RUSTY REAR AXEL SPRINGS, I GOT RECALL NOTICE FROM MANUFACTURE ABOUT THIS RUSTED SPRINGS ,NOT SURE WHAT YEAR THAT WAS. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO DEALER BUT IT DID NOT REPAIR AT THAT TIME. SO NOW THE SPRINGS RUSTED MORE VISIBLE. THIS TRUCK IS STILL DRIVABLE.

I NOTICED PIECES OF RUST FALLING UNDER THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE FRAME WHERE THE MOTOR SETS AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS I NOTICED SEVERE RUSTING. THE FRONT BRAKE LINES APPEAR AFFECTED ALSO. SOME BOLTS ARE RUSTED THROUGH AND OTHERS APPEAR TO BE CLOSE TO RUSTING THROUGH.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
HAD THE TRUCK IN FOR RECALL FOR UNDER COATING FRAME ABOUT ONE YEAR I LOOKED TO FIND RUST ON THE FRAME BY THE REAR SPRING. CALLED TOYOTA, THEN CALLED DEALER,WAS TOLD SOME ONE WOULD RETURN MY CALL. HAVE HEAR NOTHING FROM TOYOTA OR DEALER. THE FRAME IS FLAKING DO TO IMPROPER CLEANING.
TAKATA RECALL MY TOYOTA TUNDRA IS A 2006 LIMITED FULLY LOADED BEAUTIFUL TRUCK.... UNTIL YOU LOOK UNDER NEATH IT! THE FRAME HAS RUST HOLES, THE STRUTS RUSTED OFF THE FRAME, THE BREAK LINES ARE RUSTED OUT, MY BREAK DRUMS ARE RUSTED OUT, LEAF SPRING ARE RUSTED OUT, THE EXHAUST SYSTEM RUSTED OFF AND THE BEST PART ABOUT ALL OF THIS IS THAT THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA FOR THE RECALL AND SPRAYED INSTEAD OF REPLACED! THE DEALER TOOK SPONGES AND PUT THEM INTO THE FRAME AND PAINTED OVER THE FRAME!! A TOYOTA DEALER!!!! AND NOW THAT THE FRAME IS FALLING APART TOYOTA IS SAYING IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM THE RECALL IS OVER. EVEN THOUGHT THE FRAME WASN'T REPLACED WHEN IT WAS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED! MY HOUSEHOLD OWNS 7 TOYOTA A AND LEXUS VEHICLES, YOU CAN BET YOUR MONEY WE WILL NEVER BUY A TOYOTA OR LEXUS AGAIN. THANKS TOYOTA FOR NEGLECTING YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES! *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AXLE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE COMPONENTS ENTERING AND EXITING THE AXLE WHICH WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,500. UPDATE 01/13/16 MA THE CONSUMER STATED THE NOISE WAS CAUSED BY JACK THAT BECAME LOOSE UNDER THE SEAT, IT WAS TIGHTENED.
