On 5 different occasions between January-March 2023 the accelerator pedal continued to accelerate after the pedal pressure was released. Even with braking, the accelerator pedal did not decelerate. Pedal had to be lifted back to original position by using toe of foot underneath the pedal. Occurred 4 times in city driving and once on highway. Extremely hazardous conditions if I did not react to stop the acceleration. On three of the occasions I was behind a vehicle which could have caused an accident had my reaction not been quick. Toyota dealership stated all previous recalls in regards to accelerator pedal were complied with and refused any additional service to uncontrolled acceleration issues.

CRUISE CONTROL RANDOMLY STOPS WORKING. WORKS PERFECTLY FOR A FEW DAYS THEN QUITS. SOMETIMES THE CRUISE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL STILL DOES NOT FUNCTION. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE STEERING COLUMN. SOMETIMES WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED LOCK TO LOCK THE CRUISE CONTROL THEN OPERATES NORMALLY. LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS THIS MAY BE THE "CLOCK GEAR" WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE AIR INJECTION PUMP OR THE AIR SWITCH DEVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESET ITSELF AND BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE DEALERS DIAGNOSIS INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

DRIVING ALONG APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR PEDAL SLIGHTLY TOOK FOOT OFF PEDAL VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE INCREASING SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY DEPRESSED BRAKE PLACING VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL THEN AGAIN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND RELEASING IT. THE ENGINE REVVED BACK TO NORMAL. I THEN PLACED IT BACK INTO DRIVE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED SINCE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE IN 2007. ON 10-30-11 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:35 PM I PARKED MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA IN FRONT OF STEVE'S SMALL ENGINE, A BUSINESS LOCATED IN MONSON MA. AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE TRUCK ACCELERATOR STUCK OPEN AND THE TRUCK LEAPED AHEAD WHILE I HAD MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD PUSH IT TOWARD THE FLOOR. I OWN A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. FROM THE DAY I PURCHASED IT, THE ACCELERATOR FLUCTUATED WHENEVER I HIT A BUMP. THIS WAS MOST EVIDENT WHEN I STARTED FROM A STOP AND HIT A BUMP. I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT UNTIL THE FLUCTUATION BECAME SO BAD I THOUGHT I WOULD AT SOME POINT, LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I NOTIFIED TOYOTA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WHEN IN 2010, MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR ACCELERATOR PROBLEMS. TOYOTA REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR. I CONTINUED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SENSITIVE ACCELERATOR UNTIL A DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER NOTIFIED ME THAT MY VEHICLE'S ACCELERATOR WAS NORMAL. HE FURTHER INDICATED THAT NEW TUNDRA'S HAD THE SAME ACCELERATOR FEEL AS MINE. THE DISTRICT MANAGER STATED THAT HE HAD PARKED MY VEHICLE NEXT TO A NEW VEHICLE IN CASE I WANTED TO COMPARE THE NEW VEHICLE TO MINE. I DID NOT COMPARE THE TWO VEHICLES. I WAS AT THE WALMART IN BOLIVAR, MO 6:30 PM ON MARCH 4TH. GOT IN MY TUNDRA PUT IT IN REVERSE, BACKED UP AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. AS I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GO FORWARD SLOWLY THE TRUCK ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND TURNED LEFT TO AVOID HITTING A CAR AND HIT A YELLOW CONCRETE POST WHILE THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO GO FORWARD ABOUT 20 FEET. I THEN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND FINALLY GOT IT TO STOP. I THEN TRIED TO OPEN MY DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I WENT AHEAD AND DROVE HOME ABOUT 3 MILES AND PARKED THE TRUCK. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT NIGHT TO REPORT THE ACCIDENT AND LEFT A MESSAGE. I CALLED THEM AGAIN THE MORNING OF MARCH 5TH, 2010 AND GAVE THEM THE DETAILS. A CLAIMS ADJUSTER HAS ASSESSED THE DAMAGE ON THE BODY OF THE TRUCK BUT THOSE REPAIRS HAVE NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED. ON MARCH 11TH, 2010 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL FROM TOYOTA ON THE TRUCK FOR A ACCELERATOR PEDAL REINFORCEMENT BAR INSTALLATION. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT SAME DAY TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET ME IN UNTIL APRIL. WHEN I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ACCIDENT THEY CHANGE MY SCHEDULED TIME TO THAT SAME DAY, MARCH 11TH AT 6:00 PM. I DROVE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INSTALLED AN ACCELERATOR PEDAL REINFORCEMENT BAR. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE ACCELERATOR STUCK. VEHICLE HAD UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND WAS BURNING RUBBER AND ATTEMPTED TO GO FORWARD EXCEPT I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE GONE THRU THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF THE PHARMACY. THE ASPHALT WAS DRY. THERE WERE DARK BLACK TIRE MARKS ON THE ASPHALT FROM MY RIGHT REAR TIRE, WHICH ALSO APPEARED TO SHOW WEAR FROM BURNING RUBBER. THIS IS MY 5TH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION SINCE LATE OCT .MILEAGE 8794. WITH TOYOTA STATING IT WAS AN ENGINE MISFIRE. AND TOYOTA MOTORS INSPECTING THE VEHICLE ONLY TO SAY THE VEHICLE IS FINE. MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY MPG GALLON GAUGE WAS GETTING STUCK AT 60MILES PER GALLON. TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR KEEP COMING ON. VEH. STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH. I TOOK MY VEH. TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND SERVICE. THEY KEEP MY VEH. FROM APPROX FROM OCT 29,10 TO NOV.6,10. TOYOTA DEALER RESPONSE WAS THAT THE ENGINE HAD A SEVERE MISFIRE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN TAKEN FOR A SLIGHT SURGE. THE #1 & 3 FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. ACCELERATION PEDAL REPLACED. ON NOV. 13,10 THE VEH. HAD UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASION WHEN PARKING VEH. IN DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS BURNING RUBBER WHILE I HAD FOOT ON BRAKE, BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE GONE THRU GARAGE DOOR. THE CONTACT STATED THE ORIGINAL ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS MODIFIED BUT THE DEALERSHIP CUT TOO MUCH OFF AND THE PEDAL WAS TOO SHORT AND HIGH. SHE WASN'T ABLE TO REACH OR MAINTAIN HER FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. SHE WAS AFRAID OF CRASHING. THE DEALER ADVISED THEY COULD REPLACE THE GAS PEDAL WITH THE MODIFIED PEDAL BUT IT WILL BE SMALLER AND SHORT THAN THE ORIGINAL MODIFICATION. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT AND ADVISED HER THAT SHE COULD HAVE THE DEALER REPLACED THE GAS PEDAL. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 46,000.

2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA SUDDEN ACCELERATION ACCIDENT. I WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION HAPPENED. THE ENGINE RACED SO LOUD MY WIFE COULD HEAR IT IN THE HOUSE AND THOUGHT I HAD STARTED MY TRACTOR. I COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT CRASHED INTO A COUPLE OF CEMENT FENCE POSTS. AT THAT TIME THE ENGINE RETURNED TO AN IDLE SPEED. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER, THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS TYPE PROBLEM AND ASKED ABOUT MY FLOOR MATS WHICH I DO NOT HAVE IN THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS NOT A STUCK PEDAL OR FLOORMAT ISSUE, AND MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER ACCIDENTS AS I JUST PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, MOST ACCIDENTS I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT WERE TRAVELING FORWARD. THE DEALER MODIFIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND SHORTENED THE LENGTH TO PREVENT POSSIBLE PEDAL ENTRAPMENT BY THE FLOOR MAT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE LENGTH OF THE PEDAL AND STATED HIS FOOT WOULD FALL UNDERNEATH THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT; TRAFFIC BEGAN TO MOVE AS I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE TRUCK SURGED, ACCELERATING SUDDENLY. IT HAPPENED SO QUICK I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO REACT AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME (THE ACCELERATOR DID RETURN TO IDLE). I REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS MY FAULT UNTIL I STARTED HEARING ALL THE REPORTS REGARDING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH TOYOTAS. I HAD, AND CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING ONCE EVERY 6 WEEKS OR SO. ALL THE PREVIOUS TIMES THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME. I AM NOW VERY CAUTIOUS, AND HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER PER THEIR RECALL LETTER. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH APPROX 48,000 MILES. THE TRUCK IS "LIMPING" AROUND WITH NO POWER. I CANNOT DRIVE IT ON THE INTERSTATE AS IT WILL NOT GO OVER 45 OR 50 MPH. IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE COMFORTABLY EITHER, SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE ON. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO SAID THAT IT NEEDS $3300 WORTH OF REPAIRS. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED DUE TO THE COST. THEY TELL ME IT IS THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM AND THAT I NEED TO HAVE 2 PUMPS AND CONTROL VALVES REPLACED. THE COMPUTER CODE IT READS IS "P2442". THERE IS A TSB ON THIS ERROR (0329-08). AFTER RESEARCHING THESE PART NUMBERS (17610-0S010 (2 OF THESE) AND 25701-38060), THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY CONSUMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM I HAVE. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE A QUESTION OF THIS BEING A DESIGN OR ENGINEERING FAILURE OF THESE PARTS. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS SYSTEM FAILURE IS PART OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND HAS NO EFFECT ON THE WAY THE TRUCK RUNS EXCEPT IT THROWS THE TRUCK INTO "LIMP" MODE UNTIL IT IS RESOLVED. I WAS ABLE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AT FIRST TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND MY TRUCK WAS RUNNING FINE. NOW, HOWEVER, THIS WILL NOT ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM AND I AM RUNNING AROUND IN WHAT I FEEL IS AND UNSAFE VEHICLE DUE TO FACT THAT IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN PROPER SPEED FOR VARIOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR

MY 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAD THE PEDAL ACCELERATE AS I WAS BACKING UP AT MY LOCAL GROCERY STORE. I HAD BEEN COMPLAINING TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT INFORMING ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. IT WASN'T UNTIL THIS HAPPENED THAT THEY SENT A TECH OUT TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE TECH. I FEEL LIKE I KEEP GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM TOYOTA. PURCHASED A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA SR5 DOUBLE CAB ..FROM DAY ONE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY ACCELERATOR WAS TOO SPRINGY AND SENSITVE. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS HAD DIFFICULTY KEEPING ACCELERATOR IN CONTROL . TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THEY WOULD HOOK IT UP TO THE COMPUTER ONLY TO TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG . ALTHOUGH I HAD TALKED TO A TOYOTA MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THERE WOULD PROBABLY HAVE SOMETHING COME OUT ON THIS MATTER BECAUSE HE HAS SEEN PROBLEMS LIKE THIS BEFORE .. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER DROVE 12 MPH WHEN IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY AND WHEN SHE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. SHE CRASHED INTO A CONSTRUCTION BARRIER THAT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATED PREVIOUSLY A FEW TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,030. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000.

I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA 4WD, LARGE V8 .WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE I HAVE HAD THREE INSTANCES WERE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED AT A LOW SPEED[2-6MPH].] FURTHER PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WAY BOTH PEDALS WERE PRESSED. I FIND THE ACCELERATOR TO BE VERY TOUCHY. I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO ENGAGE THE AUTO DIFFERENTIAL LOCK TO CONTROL MY ACCELERATION FROM A STOPPED POSITION. IF I DON'T THE ACCELERATOR CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SPIN THE TIRES.
