MMI (infotainment), and the dashboard screen will turn off randomly and reboot every 2 minutes. This is incredibly dangerous as it turns all sound off, and driving visuals like directions, and freezes or reboots, not where you last had it but from a different check point. It has happened while I have been backing up and backup camera has rebooted during backup. Parking Collision has also malfunctioned multiple times - but primary issue is the MMI rebooting even while driving on the freeway.
The Audi MMI screen has started shutting off and rebooting then giving errors when trying to reboot. Caused a problem while we were using vehicle navigation in NYC and also lost backup guidance when parallel parking. Also dangerous in that it distracts driver with error messages. This started about two months ago once or twice a day but now happens every 2 to 5 minutes.
The MMI (display/menu) continuously reboots every few minutes, which disrupts GPS navigation and back-up camera. This causes distraction and poses a safety risk while driving. This is a common problem among similar Audi software users but has not been addressed by the dealership. No other warnings appear, it will prompt me to re-log in after each reboot.
Audi MMI (computer that controls radio, backup cameras and sensors) is rebooting constantly without warning. When this occurs and the driver is in reverse, the camera shuts down, as do the backup related safety systems, collision warning, rear cross traffic etc.
The MMI spontaneously reboots numerous times while driving. When the reboots happen, the screen goes black and key systems such as the backup camera, rear obstacle detection, and navigation, become unavailable until the reboot completes and the systems reload. Restoring functionality requires user input to get through the loading screens. The issue started in February 2025. There are numerous TSBs (filed with NHTSA) that point to available software updates that should be applied to address infotainment-related issues. This appears to be a widespread issue based on the numerous reports found on user forums online, affecting the same model year vehicles (for multiple examples, refer to [XXX] ). It is also interesting that most of the users experiencing this issue, also report it starting around the same time (Jan/Feb 2025), and they all have similar software versions, and production dates. This should be considered a safety issue, as the reboots can happen in the middle of a reverse parking maneuver, and they render the backup camera and obstacle detection sensors completely inoperative until the system reloads. They also impact safety on the highway, as the reboots completely disable the navigation screens, and require multiple user input to restore, while driving. Relevant TSB numbers include: TSB 2067021, TSB 2076404, TSB 2069112 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Continuously reboot of MMI system which impacts use and utility of main screen inclusive of backup camera, parking, collision warning, etc..
The infotainment/MMI system constantly reboots. This system is linked to the rear view camera, navigation, and hands free phone. When it reboots, those systems fail. This appears to be a widespread issue for the 2020+ Audis.
Audi MMI (screen) keep rebooting. I can't use my backup camera. This issue also block the back collision sensor
The MMI (Multi Media Interface) system is the component that failed. It began repeatedly rebooting, making critical features like Apple CarPlay, navigation, audio controls, and the rear-view camera inoperable. The failure became progressively worse after two separate repair attempts, including a software update. The 5F module, which governs infotainment, has been identified by the dealership as the part requiring replacement. Yes, the vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. The malfunction disables the rear-view camera, which is a critical safety feature especially when parking or reversing in tight spaces. It also prevents access to navigation and voice-activated phone controls, which can increase distraction if drivers attempt to manually use a mobile device as a workaround while driving. The constant rebooting also creates visual and audible distractions in the cabin. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by an authorized Audi dealership (Audi of Smithtown). After the initial repair failed to resolve the issue, the dealership attempted the repair a second time. Following further analysis, they recommended a $5,200 repair involving replacement of the 5F module, which supports that they confirmed the problem exists and persists. The issue has been inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Audi dealership (Audi of Smithtown), but there is no mention of inspection by Audi of America, police, or insurance representatives at this time. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages, but the primary symptom was the MMI system randomly rebooting. Initially, the reboots were occasional, but over time became constant to the point where the system was entirely unusable. This issue was present before the June 5, 2025 service visit and worsened significantly after the second repair attempt on June 21, 2025.
MMI (infotainment), and the dashboard screen will turn off randomly and reboot. This is a safety concern as it turns all sound off, and driving visuals like directions/backup camera, and freezes or reboots, not where you last had it but from a different check point. Audi dealership misdiagnosed the issue once, performed a software update, but the issue persists. Seems to be a widespread problem - NHTSA ID 11657000, among others.
MMI unit (HDU for Audi/radio/backup camera) keeps resetting. Lose picture when backing up. Definitely a safety hazard
The Multi Media Interface (MMI) in my 2020 Audi A4 spontaneously reboots while driving. This problem is intermittent but can happen numerous times during a single trip in the car, even trips of less than 10 miles. When the reboots happen, the screen goes black and key systems such as the backup camera, rear obstacle detection, and navigation become unavailable until the reboot completes and the systems reload. Restoring functionality requires user input to get through the loading screens. The issue started in 2024 and the Audi dealership was notified by me on 19 Apr 2024, but they could not replicate the issue and found no "fault codes". There are numerous TSBs (filed with NHTSA) that point to available software updates that should be applied to address infotainment-related issues. The problem continued and I asked the dealer to re-examine it on 27 Mar 2025, but they would not perform diagnostics unless I paid a significant labor charge (since the car is now out of warranty), so I declined. This appears to be a widespread issue based on the numerous reports found on online user forums, affecting the same model year vehicles. (For multiple examples, refer to [XXX] .) Most of the users experiencing this issue have similar software versions, and likely similar production dates. This should be considered an important safety issue, as the reboots can happen in the middle of a reverse parking maneuver, and they render the backup camera and obstacle detection sensors completely inoperative until the system reloads. They also impact safety on the highway, as the reboots completely disable the navigation screens and require multiple user input to restore while driving. Relevant TSB numbers include TSB 2067021, TSB 2076404, TSB 2069112. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. The MMI system in car will shut down and reboot many times while driving. If in the process of backing up or parking, it will disable the parking sensors as well. I have taken into dealership and they claim it is an iphone update issue. I have contacted Apple, they are not aware of any such issue.
The MMI screen ( infotainment system on dash) frequently turns off while driving. The system requires several minutes to reboot each time. During the reboot process, the backup camera and safety sensors do not work. Additionally, many other features do not work during the reboot Apple Car Play, Phone, Navigation, Radio and Garage Door Opener. The issue started in February 2025 and has persisted during each use of the car thereafter. The reboot will typically occur every few minutes while the car is on.
The MMI system which contains the backup camera and warnings, navigation, phone and radio goes blank and reboots. Continually does this at any time. You can be backing up in a parking lot and the screen goes black. Audi has tried to fix several times and continues to happen. Numerous complaints about this on Audiworld and Reddit. Major across the board problem with the vehicle.
The 2020 Audi A4 models seem to be experiencing in an outs through the MMI system. They car will reboot multiple times during a drive. I began receiving this around June 23, 2025. They claim it is a software issue however many have not come to a conclusion or fix. This is impairing driving because i am not able to utilize hands free driving which now is a law within many states. Please look into this issue and push the fix amongst all of us drivers on the road.
