MY WIFE AND I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICES AT AUDI OF TURNERSVILLE FOR $8000.00 AT THE SERVICE WRITERS SUGGESTION. WE NEEDED A NEW TURBO WITH THE ACCESSORIES. AFTER THAT THE VEHICLE RAN FINE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. ON THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT MONTH THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN! NOT STARTING WELL...AND STALLING DURING OPERATION! *TR

MY CAR WOULD NOT START AND I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO FORT MYERS AUDI. AFTER THE DIAGNOSTICS THEY SAID THE TIMING CHAIN HAD FAILED AND CAUSED A CYLINDER HEAD TO CRACK AND THE TURBO HAD ISSUES AS WELL. THEY TOLD US THAT AUDI WILL COVER THE TIMING CHAIN AND ONLY 50% OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE QUOTE GIVEN FOR THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS $5,810 (WITH AUDI COVERING $2,905). TO REPAIR THE TURBO CHARGER IT WILL COST $2,175. LOOKING ON THIS WEBSITE, I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, WITH THE SAME RESULTING PROBLEMS. *TR

MY 2011 AUDI Q5 WOULD NOT START ONE MORNING WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR IN MY GARAGE (DEC 2019). I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FLETCHER JONES AUDI DEALERSHIP IN CHICAGO IL WHERE I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER SINCE MOVING HERE IN 2014. THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND IDENTIFIED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER HAD SLIPPED, AND MAY HAVE CAUSED "CATASTROPHIC" FAILURE TO MY ENGINE. THEY PROCEEDED TO ASK FOR ANOTHER $1,500 TO DIAGNOSE THE ENGINE FOR THE FAILURE, AND MENTIONED IF IF HAD FAILED IT COULD BE UP TO $10,000 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER A SHORT BIT OF RESEARCH, IT TURNS OUT THERE IS A WARRANTY THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY DEALERSHIP NEVER TOLD ME THIS, AND WAS JUST EXPECTING ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. ALSO, I HAD MY CAR SERVICED THERE 4 DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE THE RECALL HAD BEEN ANNOUNCED. THEY NEVER ONCE INFORMED ME OF THIS. I CALLED TO ASK WHY THEY HADN'T MENTIONED THIS WARRANTY OR THIS ISSUE, AND THERE WAS NOT A GOOD ANSWER. FLETCHER JONES ALSO SAID THEY CHECK MY VIN EVERY TIME I BRING IT IN TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING OUTSTANDING REGARDING RECALLS ETC ON THE CAR, WHICH MEANS THEY COULD HAVE ALERTED ME TO THIS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN PRIOR, BUT THEY DID NOT. THEY COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS ISSUE. FAST FORWARD TO NOW, AUDI WILL ONLY COVER 25% OF THE ISSUE, AND FLETCHER JONES IS BARELY MAKING AN EFFORT TO HELP OUT ON THEIR END. I WILL BE OUT NEARLY $5,000 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IS NO FAULT OF MINE AND A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF ENGINEERING ON THE PART OF AUDI. IT ISN'T RIGHT THAT AUDI DOES NOT FULLY COVER THIS EXPENSE. AND MOREOVER, THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE A DUTY OF CARE TO DISCLOSE THEM ITEMS SUCH THAT WE CAN TAKE THE STEPS TO PREVENT THEM. FLETCHER JONES DID WRONG BY ME BY NOT DISCLOSING THIS, AND IS LIKELY DEFRAUDING AND MANIPULATING MORE CLIENTS EVERY DAY THEY REMAIN IN OPERATION.

AT ABOUT 63,000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I CHECKED CODE AND P0018 SHOWED UP. IT FAILED EMISSIONS TEST SUBSEQUENTLY FOR LICENSE RENEWAL. I TOOK IN TO DEALERSHIP AND FIRST TIME THEY SAID A SENSOR WAS SLIGHTLY LOOSE AND A LITTLE CORROSION ON. SAID IT WAS FIXED AND MEETS MANUF. SPECIFICATIONS. LIGHT CAME BACK ON 2 DAYS LATER. JUST TOOK IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE LEFT SIDE TIMING BELT AND $6,100 TO FIX. WHAT TROUBLES ME IS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AUDI BUT ONLY FOR THE 2.0. MY CAR IS APPARENTLY THE ONLY 3.2 LITER HAVING THIS ISSUE. NO RECALL? IT OCCURRED AT THE SAME MOMENT IN TIME, AROUND 65,000 MILES. WHILE I WAS APPEASED SLIGHTLY BY THEM OFFERING TO FIX IT FOR PARTS COST..... ABOUT $3,300, AND THE SUBSEQUENT BILL WAS A SURPRISING (TO THE GOOD) BILL OF $2327.25 INCLUDING THE NECESSARY OIL CHANGE, I JUST QUESTION THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO PENDING RECALL ON THE AUDI Q5 3.2 LITER. AND UNFORTUNATELY STILL A SUSPICIOUS COST. EVERYTHING WAS DONE AMICABLY, AS TIME WAS OF THE ESSENCE. BUT STILL FEEL SHORTED THAT MY 3.2 DOESN'T FALL INTO THIS RECALL.

I DO NOT QUALIFY FOR CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT DUE TO FILING DEADLINES BUT AM FACING UP TO $14,000 IN REPAIR COSTS. IT IS UNREASONABLE FOR AN ENGINE TO FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE ADN THERE TO BE NO MANUFACTURER LIABILITY.

THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 6OK MIKES ON IT.

AFTER MY CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 8 DAYS I WENT IN GARAGE TO CRANK IT. THE CAR CRANKED BUT SHOOK VIOLENTLY. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT IT OFF. I TRIED TO RE CRANK IT BUT IT WOULD NOT CRANK. I CALLED AUDI AND HAD IT TOWED IN. THEY TOLD ME THE "LIFETIME" TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED. THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST BETWEEN $4,000 AND $7,000 TO FIX. I DID SOME QUICK SEARCHING AND SAW OTHER FOLKS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. THE CAR HAS 98,000 MILES , ALWAYS SERVICED BY AUDI. I CALLED AUDI AND TOLD THEM THIS APPEARS TO BE A RE OCCURRING ISSUE AND I THOUGH THEY SHOULD HANDLE THE FIX. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD SPLIT THE COST. I TOLD THEM TO PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR. THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE, THE FIRST WAS "OIL CONSUMPTION" WHICH THEY REPAIRED FOR FREE. ANOTHER $7,000 FIX. I JUST SAW A EPISODE ON "NEWS 5 INVESTIGATES" CHICAGO DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH A VW, AND ALSO LISTING AUDI'S 2011. ITS ON THEIR WEBSITE.

AFTER RUNNING ERRANDS I STARTED MY AUDI Q5. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO IDLE HARD. NO WARNING LIGHTS ECT., BUT ENOUGH FOR CONCERN. DROVE IT IMMEDIATELY TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC JUST BLOCKS AWAY. IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE TENSIONER ON THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. I HAVE MAINTAINED THE CAR METICULOUSLY, AND AM BESIDE MYSELF OVER THIS. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR MULTIPLE PEOPLE AND THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED FILED LAST SPRING IN NEW JERSEY FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. MY ENGINE WAS REBUILT AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL TWO YEARS AGO ON AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I AM BEING TOLD IT WILL COST ME $13,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE, BUT IS SEEMS THAT THIS WAS AN EXISTING PROBLEM THAT AUDI KEPT FROM ITS CUSTOMERS.

I HAVE BEEN TREATED SO BADLY THAT I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER AUDI. THE MANAGER HAS TERRIBLE LEADERSHIP OF THE DEALERSHIP AND MY SERVICE EXPERIENCE WAS A ABSOLUTE DISASTER. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER SINCE I PURCHASED BY Q5 (NEVER MISSED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AND ALWAYS DID IT AT THE DEALERSHIP). THE ENGINE HAS LEAKED OIL THE ENTIRE TIME. 3 YEARS AGO AUDI REPLACED THE PISTONS DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT (THEY PAID FOR IT). 4 DAYS BEFORE MY REGULARLY SCHEDULED SERVICE APPOINTMENT MY ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING IT HOME FROM WORK THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. I HAD A HALF-MILE WARNING SOMETHING WAS WRONG WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED SPUTTERING. IF I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. WHEN I GOT IT INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNED IT OFF IT WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER 4-5 ATTEMPTS, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURNOVER. SO I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSESSMENT. THE NEXT DAY THEY TELL ME ENGINE CAR WAS WORTHLESS AND THAT I MUST PUT IN A NEW ENGINE FOR $11,000. THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN ENGINES FAIL AROUND 105,000. MINE HAS 107,000. I ASKED WHY THEY DID NOT ALERT ME TO THIS RISK AS I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN SOONER. I ARGUED BACK UNTIL THEY REDUCED THE PRICE TO $6,300 FOR NEW ENGINE ON A 6 YEAR OLD CAR, AND THEY WOULD OFFER ME $8,500 TO TRADE IT IN ON A NEW ONE. I DO NOT HAVE $6,300 TO DO INVEST. BESIDES, THE ENGINE IN THE Q5 HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT AS A PRE-CERTIFIED VEHICLE IN 2011. I AM A SINGLE MOM, AND I HAVE HAD TO RENT A CAR ON MY OWN FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS, WHILE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT "ASSESSED" THE ENGINE ISSUE. TODAY I FINALLY GAVE UP AND I ARRANGED FOR MY Q5 TO BE TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. IF AUDI WOULD HAVE WORKED WITH ME ON ALERTING ME TO POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE ISSUE AT 105,000 MILES; SUGGESTED FIXING MY CAR SOONER; OFFERING ME A LOANER DURING THIS PROCESS; OR A BETTER TRADE IN VALUE -- I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ANOTHER AUDI.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

THE CAR WAS PARKED AND ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER A PASSERBY CAME INTO THE RESTAURANT IN WHICH WE WERE DINING SAYING A GRAY AUDI WAS ON FIRE. OWNER OF RESTAURANT TRIED TO USE HANDHELD FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO THE FRONT GRILL. NO LUCK AS IT IMMEDIATELY MELTED THE HOOD AND ENGULFED THE WHOLE CAR IN FLAMES. TOOK FIREMEN 30 MINUTES TO PUT IT OUT. THEY HAD NO IDEA OF CAUSE BUT SPECULATED ELECTRICAL AS THE SOURCE.

LESS THAN 1 YR AFTER I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE, I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND REPLACED CRANKCASE BREATHER VALVE AND FRONT MAIN SEAL & ECM UPDATE. HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUED, DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS ACCEPTABLE AS LONG AS IT WAS 1200 OR MORE PER 1/4 QT OF OIL. I HAVE COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES AND DEALER SAYS IT IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR. NOW, I AM PAST MY WARRANTY AND THE CAR IS CONSUMING 1/4 QUART OIL TO 760 MILES. AFTER SOME RESEARCH ON INTERNET FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE AUTO MAKER IS NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. OTHERS HAD PISTONS AND RINGS CHANGED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. CURRENTLY, I AM SPENDING AN EXTRA $90 A MONTH ON OIL. I HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND SEE THAT THIS MODEL YEAR IS RIDDLED WITH ISSUES. THE AUDI 2.0T ENGINE IS KNOWN TO HAVE ISSUES WITH SIGNIFICANT OIL CONSUMPTION. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT AUDI WITH THIS ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES. DURING OTHER SERVICE VISITS I HAVE MENTIONED TO THE AUDI DEALER THAT THE CAR BURNS A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000-1200 MILES. AUDI CLAIMS THAT THIS IS PART OF THE ENGINE DESIGN IN ORDER FOR IT TO GIVE BETTER FUEL ECONOMY. THIS IS CLEARLY NOT TRUE. I HAVE FRIENDS WITH AUDIS EQUIPPED WITH THE 2.0T ENGINE AND THEY HAVE ZERO OIL CONSUMPTION. THERE ARE MULTIPLE ONLINE BLOGS WITH OTHER AUDI OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT IS CLEARLY SOMETHING THAT AUDI SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. *TR
