When driving any acceleration will cause the car to shift from Drive to Neutral. This can happen under normal driving conditions and at any speed.
THE CAR LUNGES/JERKS AT RANDOM TIMES DURING STARTUP. IT DOES THIS WHETHER THE CAR IS COLD, HOT AND AT RANDOM TIMES DURING THE DAY OR EVENING. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURS. ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT IF IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THE DEALER CANNOT IDENTITY THE PROBLEM. AT TIMES THE JERK IS BARELY NOTICEABLE BUT OTHER TIMES THE JERK IS HARSH AND I FEAR THE THE CAR WILL MOVE FORWARD WHILE PARKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BMW 528I. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.
WHEN DRIVING FREEWAY OR STREET, TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING IT TO DROP INTO A LOW GEAR AND REDUCE SPEED SIGNIFICANTLY. THERE IS NO MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE ON THE TRANSMISSION. UNFORTUNATELY WILL NEED REPLACEMENT AT 8 YRS & 90K ON ODOMETER. BMW SHOULD RECALL AND FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BMW 550I GRAN TURISMO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER TRAIN SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVE TRAIN SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TEN TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER THE MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: N63 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,500.
WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT COMES TO NEUTRAL AND ENGINE RPM GOES TO AROUND 4000 AND TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONING SIGN COMES. I HAVE TO PULLOVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. AFTER THAT IT RUNS SMOOTH. IT HAPPENS ONCE A WHILE. IN LAST TWO MONTHS IT HAPPENED SIX TIMES. TWO TIMES I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HARDLY SURVIVED FROM THE ACCIDENTS. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.
EXPERIENCING HARD BUMP WHEN BRAKING, HARD SHIFTS IN SPORT MODE, SLOW TO ENGAGE IN REVERSE AND HUNTING FOR THE RIGHT GEAR WHEN COASTING. THIS DELAYED AND JERKY RESPONSE PRESENTS A SEVERE DRIVING RISK AND DANGER AS THE VEHICLE BEHAVIOR IS UNPREDICTABLE AND INCONSISTENT. THESE ARE COMMON SYMPTOMS OF A KNOWN MECHATRONICS FAILURE, HOWEVER BMW REFUSES TO FIX THIS UNTIL A CODE IT THROWN. UNFORTUNATELY THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY SHOULD NOT REQUIRE A CODE!!!!! *TR
WHILE AT A STOP AND HIGHER SPEEDS (40-65MPH) CAR JERKS FORWARD WITHOUT PRESSING ACCELERATOR. ALSO, SHIFTS RADICALLY, SURGING FORWARD OR SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTS WHILE IN MOTION. *TR
