Gains speed on mild downhills. Request a feature to be called "Brake Saver" on all automatic transmissions. Depressing Brake downshifts if RPMs are low enough to reduce speed (2000-2500RPM, so next gear does not exceed 3600RPM). Taking foot off gas sets coasting maximum speed. If speed rises 5 km/hr 3 mi/hr the transmission downshifts to reduce speed to the speed the foot came off the gas pedal. Especially useful on Semis with Automatic transmissions.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the wave plates had fractured and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
MY TRANSMISSION NOT WORKING THE CAR WON'T MOVE WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR . AT FIRST WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN GETTING READY TO PULL OFF STEP ON THE GAS THE CAR WON'T MOVE IT WOULD HESITATE THEN JUMP INTO GEAR. *TR
MANUAL TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY SEEMS LIKE IT WILL GO INTO 2ND GEAR, BUT DOES NOT ACTUALLY ENGAGE. PROBLEM SEEMS RELATIVELY RANDOM.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO A CAR SHOW AND STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. AS I CONTINUED ON AT ABOUT 3/4 THROTTLE O WAS SHIFTING GEARS AS I WENT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR I HEARD AND FELT A LOUD BANG ON BOTTOM OF CAR. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND PULLED OVER. I PICKED UP THE PARTS FROM THE ROAD. AFTER HAVING CAR TOWED TO A FRIEND'S SHOP WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT ON A LIFT AND SEE THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD EXPLODED AT THE MID POINT. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION WE FOUND THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES HAD BET COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND THE DRIVE SHAFT THAT WAS LEFT ATTACHED TO TRANSMISSION HAD RIPPED INTO THE TUNNEL OF THE CAR. I COULD SEE THE CARPET AND PLASTIC TO CENTER CONSOLE THROUGH THIS HOLE.
^ 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, BYPASS/LOCKOUT WILL NOT ALLOW CORRECT SHIFT FORCING VEHICLE TO HESITATE OR BE BECOME BOGGED DOWN. FORCES YOU TO 4TH GEAR OR 6TH. IN TRAFFIC THIS A HAZARD WHILE TRYING TO BUILD UP SPEED,FOR ON RAMP,MERGING,PASSING SOMETIMES CAR WILL STALL. ONLY TO CORRECT TEMPORARILY IS PULL ON SIDE OF ROAD AND STOP PUT CAR IN REVERSE THEN VEHICLE SHIFTS NORMAL FOR A SLIGHT WHILE. GM IS IN DENIAL!!! IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS.
THERE IS A NOTCHINESS WHEN SHIFTING INTO SECOND GEAR FROM FIRST UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. THIS RESULTS IN A SECOND GEAR GRIND AND I AM UNABLE TO GET INTO SECOND GEAR SOMETIMES. ALSO, OCCASIONALLY THE TRANSMISSION WILL POP OUT OF SECOND GEAR AND RETURN TO NEUTRAL RESULTING IN NO ACCELERATION, WHICH IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE READ ABOUT SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES AS ME, ESPECIALLY WITH GRINDING SECOND GEAR, AND GM SIMPLY NEEDS TO FIX THE ISSUE INSTEAD OF SAYING THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS "OPERATING AS INTENDED". I HAVE BEEN DREAMING OF OWNING A NEW CAMARO SINCE THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT IT WAS COMING BACK TO MARKET, BUT IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE DAY 1 WITH NO FIX FROM THE DEALER. *TR
AFTER ONLY 12,500 MILES AND 9 MONTHS, THE CLUTCH IN MY 2011 V6 CAMARO LS BURNT OUT. THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT IT LOOKS LIKE I DROVE IT "AGGRESSIVELY." I HAVE NOT, AS IT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I OBVIOUSLY NEED IT FOR WORK. THEY ARE NOT COVERING THE CLUTCH BECAUSE IT IS 500 MILES OVER MY "WEARABLE PARTS WARRANTY." NOW I HAVE SENT AN EMAIL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ISSUE TO CHEVROLET AND THEY ARE SENDING A REGIONAL TECHNICIAN OUT TO LOOK AT THE CAR. BUT THE FACT REMAINS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE (CHECK THE CAMARO5.COM FORUMS) AND SHOULD BE FIXED SOMEHOW. *TR
2011 CHEVY CAMARO LESS THAN 10,000K MILES. DRIVING IN TRAFFIC IN MAYBE A 1% GRADE HILL. BURNING SMELL, THE CAR WOULDN'T CATCH IN 1ST OR 2ND GEAR. LOST ALL ACCELERATION, HAD TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES ON THE HIGHWAY. SAT IN THE CAR FOR OVER 2 HOURS FOR TOWING COMPANY. THEN SHOP TEST DROVE NEXT DAY, GEARS WORK, BUT BAD BURNING SMELL CONTINUES. SHIPPED TO CHEVROLET. I DID RESEARCH ONLINE AND SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND IT PLACED MY LIFE INTO DANGER! *TR
WHEN MERGING INTO HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION GRINDS/REJECTS SECOND GEAR IN THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND SLOW DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. I ALMOST WAS IN A ACCIDENT DUE TO THE MISSED SHIFT.
SECOND GEAR GRIND . 2011 CAMARO LS. SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION. SECOND GEAR GRIND OCCURS WITH EVERY UP SHIFT OR DOWN SHIFT . THIS OCCURS DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. AT TIMES CAR WILL NOT GO INTO SECOND GEAR AT ALL CAUSING CONCERN FOR SAFETY . I HAVE CONTACTED GM WHO HAS ADDRESSED THE ISSUE ONCE BUT THE REPAIR WAS MADE WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS. THE ISSUE RETURNED AFTER 3,000 MILES. THE ATTEMPTED REPAIR WAS. SYNCHRONIZERS, NEW FIRST AND SECOND GEARS, BALL BEARINGS AND FORKS. AGAIN AFTER 3,000 MILES THE GRIND AND SECOND GEAR FAILURE HAS RETURNED AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE WORSE THEN THE FIRST TIME. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED AND IS FULL STOCK. *TR
