I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX THAT JUST RANDOMLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION GO OUT IN IT. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS AGO AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO A FULL VEHICLE FLUID TOP OFF AND FULL OIL CHANGE. NEVER HAVE I HAD ANY ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS AND IT ONLY HAS 90K MILES ON IT.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD AND THE CAR JERKED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I TRIED TO PUSH IT, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO. I SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. ONCE I MANAGED TO GET IT INTO A PARKING LOT, ALL GEARS TOTALLY LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT EVEN GET IT IN NEUTRAL. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I ONLY HAVE 76K MILES ON THIS ONE BEFORE IT WENT UP.

THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESTART. WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER (JIM TRENARY CHEVROLET, 501 AUTO MALL DR, O'FALLON, MO 63368 (636) 946-6300) WHERE AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,621.

EXTREME HARD DOWN SHIFT BETWEEN 35-45 MPH. DEALER SAYS "TRANSMISSION IS FRIED" "PLATES ARE CHARRED". THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. IT HAS HAD ALREADY 2-3 RECALLS & THIS TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS & THEY WILL NOT MAKE THIS A RECALL & THEY WILL NOT HELP PAY FOR REPAIR ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE HELPED OTHERS. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT DUE TO DRIVER ERROR BUT DUE TO FAILURE OF THE PART. DEALER IS CHARGING AN ARM/LEG TO FIX IT. GENERAL MOTORS CLEARLY DOES NOT CARE.

AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE OF HOURS ON FREEWAY I TURNED ONTO GRATIOT AVE, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST FORWARD MOTION POWER. I WAS VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAD A 2 MONTH OLD INFANT IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST REVERSE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE 3RD/5TH/REVERSE CLUTCH WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED AND I WOULD NEED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. I INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP THAT THESE CLUTCH WAVE PLATES HAVE HIGH FAILURE RATES GOING BACK TO 2007 AND GM SHOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THEIR COST. I AM AWAITING THEIR DECISION. ONLY 74,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.

TAKATA RECALL I PURCHASED MY CAR IN MAY 2016. I INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE ISSUE RIGHT AWAY. IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED PROPERLY. THE DEALER HAD A 30 WARRANTY TO FIX ANYTHING WRONG. MY CAR DOESN'T GET ENOUGH POWER. IT JERKS FORWARD AROUND 30MPH. DOES DRIVE PAST 55MPH AND MOST RECENTLY DOESN'T REVERSE, DESPITE RETURNING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. THE ERROR CODES READ P0700 AND P0776. YESTERDAY THE CAR STOPPED GOING IN REVERSE. IT CAN ONLY DRIVE FORWARD.

I PURCHASED MY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX IN MARCH 2014 AT 40,000 MILES. IN THAT TIME I HAVE ONLY ADDED 16,000. IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS OR SO I HAVE HAD MANY ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. THERE WAS A TICKING FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AFTER PARKING AND SHUTTING OFF THE VEHICLE, A ROUGH/LOUD RUNNING OF THE ENGINE, INCONSISTENT TIMES OF A 'WHIRRING' TYPE SOUND, AND A BUCKING OF THE VEHICLE DURING ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING SO ROUGH THAT I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND A FEW TIMES. WHEN WE INQUIRED ABOUT THESE THINGS FROM THE DEALER WE PURCHASED FROM WE WERE TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS 'NORMAL' AND THAT'S WHAT A CHEVY SOUNDS LIKE. IN AUGUST THE COMPRESSOR FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT AND WE THOUGHT PERHAPS THAT WAS CAUSING MOST OF THE ISSUES AND SPENT QUITE A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX THAT. IT DID SEEM TO RUN A LITTLE BETTER FOR A FEW WEEKS. TODAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 30 MPH ROAD AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20 MPH GOING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE CLOSEST GARAGE AS I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER END OF THE NEXT TOWN FROM WHERE I WAS. I BARELY MADE IT TO THE GARAGE. THEY HOOKED IT UP TO A SCAN AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOW I AM FINDING OUT THAT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY BY LESS THAN ONE MONTH. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM IN THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE FROM WHAT I HAVE NOW FOUND AND SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES ON IT. I DO NOT DRIVE LONG DISTANCES OR EVEN ON A DAILY BASIS, AS THE FACT THAT I HAVE ONLY ADDED 16,000 MILES IN THE LAST 19 MONTHS CAN ATTEST. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH THE ENTIRE SITUATION, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD TOLD THE DEALERSHIP MONTHS AGO THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE THAT THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO LOOK INTO AND CONVENIENTLY CAN NO LONGER FIND RECORD OF. NEITHER THE DEALER OR CHEVY WERE HELPFUL.

TRYING TO PASS A TRUCK AT ABOUT 55 MPH I STEPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR, ONLY TO SEE THE RPM'S RACE UP HIGH BUT NO ACCELERATION. GOOD EVENING, 6 YEARS AGO I HAD A CHEVY COBALT AND EXPERIENCED THAT SITUATION. MY VEHICLE POWERED ITSELF OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WENT STRAIGHT FOR A WALL INSIDE A PARKING GARAGE. LATER THAT YEAR I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS I WAS ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE POWERED OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AND I DIDN'T GET KNOCKED OFF THE STREET OR EVEN WORSE KILLED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND MY CONCERN WAS SOMETHING UNHEARD. I EXPRESSED TO THEM MY CONCERN OF THAT HAPPENING ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY OR AN EXPRESSWAY. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF THERE AND LEFT IT FOR A DAY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY BEFORE GETTING OFF THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS READY I WENT TO PICK IT UP AND THEY HAD ME WAITING FOR 30 MINUTES. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG THE SERVICE MANAGER REPLIED THAT THE MECHANIC WAS BACK THERE MAKING LOVE TO MY CAR. I COULDN'T FIND ANY HUMOR IN THE SITUATION BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE.BEFORE I WAS NONCHALANTLY BRUSHED OFF AND TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I COULDN'T GET GM CORPORATE OFFICE TO UNDERSTAND HOW SERIOUS THIS ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CHECK STABILIZATION SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. NEXT, THE ENGINE CUT POWER WITHOUT WARNING. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON TWO OCCASION, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED TO RE-ENGAGE WHILE MAKING A SLOW ROLLING TURN FROM A CENTER TURNING LANE INTO A DRIVEWAY. IN BOTH SITUATION, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE NORMALLY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE LEAVING THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE PATH OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IN EACH SITUATION, THE VEHICLE NEED TO BE PLACED IN PARK, SHUT OF AND THEN RE-STARTED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2012 AND THE SECOND OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON FEBRUARY 6, 2013. THE DEALER EXAMINED AND TESTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO PROBLEM.

THEY OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.

DEAR SIRS, SHIFT 1ST TO 2ND, COMPLETE LOCKUP FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS. AFTER TWO COMPLETE LOCKUPS IN A WEEK, EQUINOX NOW HAS 12000 MILES AND HAS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM EVERY WEEK OR SO. BAD SHIFTS 1ST TO 2ND AND 5TH TO 6TH.INCLUDING SLAM SHIFTS. DELAYS IN SHIFTS AND DOWN SHIFTS, AS MUCH AS REGULAR, 2 TO 4 SECONDS AND BAD ONES FROM 6 TO 8 SECONDS. FOR HARD DOWNSHIFTS( PASSING GEAR) CAR VERY SLUGGISH TO RESPOND. AFTER THOSE FATAL LOCKUPS, NOW HAS INTERMITTENT HARDWARE PROBLEMS. DEALERSHIP,WHERE I BOUGHT IT, THE SALES MANAGER TOLD ME TO TAKE MY CAR ELSEWHERE FOR SERVICE,BECAUSE I DID NOT GIVE HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT A GOOD SURVEY. GRADE .
