Air conditioner stops working intermittently
I have a crack in the manifold leading to an exhaust leak. This is apparently a very, very common and known issue with the equinox but there's no recall on the 2013 model. Sounds like there should be.
I need to no more abut this car
Rear main seal and not available for inspection. Losing oil too fast and will make car stall when driving it and cause an accident also can ruin motor when driving it. Vehicle was inspected by auto mechanics and needs to be fixed but the 2013 year there was never a recall for this issue. There were no signs of symptoms at all. This started to happen back in December 2022.
Engine running rough... sputters when started
There is an oil consumption issue. This car needs oil every other week. It’s burning way to much.
Excessive oil consumption. I have had to refill the oil more often than usual and oil changes have been needed prior to reaching the 3,000 - 5,000 miles and before 3 months. This was even after the initial recall was repaired. It has continued to do this.
UNKNOWN. This particular make & model has an oil consumption recall & a recall on the piston rings due to the oil consumption. I have owned the vehicle since 2019 & have had issues with it every since it was purchased. It was taken to the dealership for idling & a rear knocking consistent noise & they could not find the issue & they were even aware that had recalls but could not find an issue or even offer to fix the recall issue. Now, the past year it has been consuming oil & it has completely stop operating & smokes like crazy. The check engine light is not even on & the car is feeling like it is overheating as well. Still, there are no warning or check engine lights on. The car is not giving any codes on a diagnostic meter. Last year the check engine light came on & all fluids were changed & air intake & valves were replaced as well. I have received both recall letters after purchase but was unsuccessful at getting anyone to locate or search for the recall issue. Our safety was compromised as the car just completely stopped going in traffic & could have caused someone else to hit it due to it stalling. I am not certain at what component has failed but the complete system is inoperable. UNKNOWN cause.
I was driving on the highway and the stabilitrak light came on as well as the power steering, ABS, traction control light and engine light then my car literally slowed down and had no power. I was doing 60 mile an hour and it down shifted to almost 5 miles an hour, thank God there were no cars near nor behind me, it would have killed me and my daughter So now the service stabilitrak light is on / the check engine light is on / the power steering light and break light comes on and then goes off. The diagnostic read says – 1.)P0575 Cruise Control switch, 2.)P0700, 3.)U0101 - loss communication with transmission control module replace, 4.)Transmission input shaft speed sensor, 5.)Replace transmission electrical hydraulic control module, 6.)U0073 CAN bus Communication Is there a recall on this – this is very dangerous!!!
2013 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS MADE TO VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CATAYLTIC CONVERTOR FAILED WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE HAPPENED TO FAIL ACROSS THE STREET FROM A REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE LOCAL SHOP. THE CONSUMER LATER WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED REIMBURSING THE REPAIR COST DUE TO AFTERMARKET PARTS BEING USED FOR THE REPAIR.
Engine light on
I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR CLOGGED PVC VALVE. SPECIAL BULLETIN WAS RELEASED 14882 GM LOST A CLASS ACTION FOR HAVING LIMITED CARS WITH VIN # APPROVED FOR THE FREE FIX SO NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS SUED AND WON IN 2019. BUT NOW MY VIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ISN'T BEING COVERED. IT'S A WELL KNOWN WELL COMPLAINED ABOUT PROBLEM WITH 2010-2014 CHEVY EQUINOX'S. WITH SOME CARS CATCHING FIRE. I BROUGHT IN FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A COVERED REPAIR SINCE THE LAWSUIT AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL ABOUT MY CAR AND OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACED OIL IN MY CAR IN-BETWEEN OIL CHANGES BUT DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT UNTIL I RECEIVED THE NOTICE. I HAD TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. I DID THEN COVID HIT AND THEY CLOSED DOWN FOR SOME TIME. I RESTARTED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND WAS TOLD BY A MGR NAMED TOM THAT MY CAR WAS BURNING EXCESS OIL BUT HE WOULD NEED TO SPEAK TO HIS MGR, WHO WAS ON VACATION AT THIS TIME. I THEN CALLED HIM BACK A WEEK LATER AS I DID NOT HEAR BACK FROM HIM. TOM TOLD ME THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS NOT ENOUGH TO WARRANT THE CAR BEING FIXED. I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS ANSWER AS THEIR WAS A RECALL, I HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE AND DID WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO AND THEY SHOULD FIX MY CAR. I SENT TWO LETTERS PRIORITY MAIL TO THE MGR OF GENGRAS CHEVROLET IN EAST HARTFORD, CT. BOTH PRIORITY PACKAGES WERE RECEIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO ME. I HAVE ATTACHED THE LETTER I SENT TO PAUL SMITH, MGR OF GENGRAS CHEVROLET FOR YOUR REVIEW. I JUST WANT MY CAR FIXED BUT I WILL FOLLOW THROUGH WITH LEGAL ACTION IF NECESSARY. I NOTICED A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF MY VEHICLE. IT SEEMS TO BE STRONGER WHEN SITTING PARKED (I.E. AT THE GROCERY STORE OR AT A LONG STOP LIGHT). SERVICE SHOPS FOUND A HOLE IN EXHAUST RESONATOR AND A CRACK IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHICH 2 AUTO SERVICE SHOPS INDICATE ARE "EXTREMELY COMMON IN 2013 CHEVY EQUINOX". ADDITIONALLY, IT APPEARS 2011 MODELS HAD A RECALL ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AS WELL.
MY MANIFOLD IS GETTING A HOLE IN IT AND I WAS TOLD THAT ONCE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE MANIFOLD WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED SINCE THERE IS AN OXYGEN SENSOR LOCATED IN THE MANIFOLD. IF I LET THE CAR IDLE IN THE DRIVEWAY, I CAN SMELL EXHAUST GOING INTO MY VEHICLE
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME FROM WORK, ON NORTH CAPITAL STREET N.W. A VERY BUSY CITY STREET, WHEN I STOP AT THE RED LIGHT MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE,AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, MY CAR STALLED AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO ME. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC HE TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS ALMOST OUT OF OIL, AND I TOLD HIM THAT I GOTTEN AND OIL CHANGE 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO, AND THE METER ON MY DASH BROAD SAID THAT I HAVE 75% OIL LEFT IN MY CAR, HE SAID TO KEEP AN EYE ON MY OIL. WHEN I HAD WORK DONE TO MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY NEVER TOLD ME THAT I HAD A PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, DUE TO PISTON RING WEAR. THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT NEVER CAME ON, AND "OIL PRESSURE LOW" OR ENGINE LIGHT NEVER GAVE ME ANY KIND OF WARNING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE 120,000 MILEAGE, MY CAR WAS AT 131,699 MILEAGE WHEN I REALIZE WHAT WAS GOING ON, MY CAR IS STILL STALL AND I'M AFRAID THAT SOMEONE WILL RUN INTO THE BACK OF ME WHEN MY CAR STALLS AT THE LIGHT. I WORK AT CHILDREN HOSPITAL, AS A NURSE AND THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR ME TO BE BREAKING DOWN, TRYING TO EVEN GET TO WORK, OR TRYING TO GET HOME FROM WORK AFTER WORKING 12HRS OR 16 HRS, PLEASE HELP.
THERE IS A TSB 15285C WHICH COVERS THE 4 CYLINDER FOR OIL CONSUMPTION. NINE IS THE V6 3.6. THIS GOES THROUGH 1 QUART EVERY 350 MILES. I'VE BEEN TO 2 DEALERS AND WAS TOLD MINE IS NOT COVERED. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS REPAIR. WHAT CAN BE DONE? I BOUGHT USED FROM SPITZER CHEVY IN NORTH CANTON OHIO. I THINK THAT THEY KNEW OF THIS AND I ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NONE.
THE HOOD OPEN SENSOR KEEPS GOING OFF AND I . NOTICED WHEN ITS BEEPING IT INTERRUPTS THE TURN SIGNAL. I DON'T KNOW IF IT AFFECTS THE OUTSIDE TURN .OR NOT. THIS ALARM GOES OFF EVEN WHEN CAR IS SHUT OFF AND DRAINS THE BATTERY
PCV SYSTEM REAR MAIN SEAL FROZE AND BURST RESULTING LOOSING OIL IN THE VEHICLE.....WAS TOLD THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD TO BE PULLED ALSO TO CHECK IF ANYTHING WAS BLOCKING. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN WORK PARKING LOT ALL DAY AND DROVE HOME ONLY TO FIND THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM CAR. I WAS TOLD IT HAD TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP LEARNED THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN FROM GM STATING THAT WHEN THE SEAL BURTS, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAS TO BE PULLED AND CHECKED FOR BLOCKAGE...WHICH THE CONSUMBER HAS TO PAY FOR.....GM DOES NOT.....WHY??
BECAUSE OF FAST OIL CONSUMPTION THE CHECK ENGINE THAT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WHEN IDLING.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. GM COVERED REPAIRS FOR 2010-2012 MODELS BUT NOT 2013 DESPITE CONTINUED PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS. WENT THROUGH GM PROCESS FOR OIL CONSUMPTION TESTING AND VERIFIED THIS IS AN ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE YET THEY REFUSE TO OFFER ANY KIND OF ASSISTANCE FOR REPAIRS. PROBLEM BEGAN JANUARY OF 2018, LESS THAN 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY AND ONLY 630000 MILES. WHEN TAKEN TO HAVE SERVICED WAS TOLD 3.5 QUARTS LOW IN OIL YET NO LOW OIL INDICATOR LIGHT EVER CAME ON AND CAM SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED.
BURNING OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES
OIL CONSUMPTION. CAR IS BURNING MORE OIL THAN IS "RECOMMENDED". WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR. THERE IS NO LEAK.
DRIVERS DOOR INSIDE HANDLE LAMINATION SEPARATES CAUSING CUTS TO OCCUPANTS HANDS WHEN TRYING TO OPEN DOOR TO EXIT VEHICLE.
