wind shield wiper stopped working while driving on the highway in heavy down pour, safety was my next concern, so I pulled over and waited for the rain to stop to continue driving home.
My windshield wipers suddenly stopped working and will not work.
My Front Windshield Wipers are not working, they went out on me after an ice storm here in Kentucky. I took to Chevrolet Rock- Royal Oaks here in Paducah Kentucky where they tested a motor recall part as working and stated I needed an engine harness wiring junction block after paying $160 for them to check this and there is no part available to fix the issue because itβs currently on back order. With no known information on when it will be available. Unfortunately I got caught in the rain yesterday with no wipers.
I was driving down the interstate during a rainstorm when my windshield wipers stopped working. It made it impossible to see. It continued to rain that whole week so I took my car into the shop immediately to get the windshield wipers looked at and had to get a rental car in the meantime since I could not drive without the windshield wipers with it raining in North Carolina the whole week. I also needed the rental car to get to work while the car was in the shop. I recieved a call from the Chevy dealership and they said there had been a recall on the a part related to the windshield wipers and that the issue with my wipers was due to that part failing. I have never recieved information from Chevy on the recall for the windshield wiper part. If I would have known I would have gotten it replaced to avoid the issues I have had to go through. Because I could not see when my windshield wipers failed it not only put me at risk but others on the road. It was very sudden and scary. The vehicle has been inspected and fixed by the manufacturer. There was no warning signs, it was very random. I was able to get the part fixed for free but the part had to be ordered by the chevy dealership and I had to have my rental car for two days. It was a very expensive fix, although the part was replaced, because I had to have the rental car. It was $388.54 for the rental car.

Driving in heavy rain on highway and windshield wipers just suddenly stopped and froze mid windshield almost hydroplaned and almost got rear ended when I slowed down despite putting caution lights on. Wipers are still not working and I have contacted multiple dealerships about this and there being a possible recall and am told there is not a permanent solution. I finally got one dealership in the area that will look at the issue. I have the incident recorded on dash camera.
Windshield wipers quit working due to ice when parked. Bushing came off of ball fitting on wiper transmission. I replaced bushing and it quit again. I put it back on and it came off again The second failure occurred while driving. I had to operate by hand to remove dirt splatter on windshield.

We received a letter in the mail approximately April of 2022 stating there was a recall on the ball joints of the wipers. There was no parts available at the time for them to repair, The letter stated just wait. We continued to check in and there was still no fix. We were driving 2 hours away in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday August 19th when a torrential rain came down. The windshield wiper ball joint failed almost causing us to get into an accident on the interstate. We had to wait the storm out, and then made it home later on that night. I called the number on the recall sheet and GM told us that my husband's dad could fix the problem and we could be in reimbursed because he was a certified mechanic. My husband and his father who is a certified mechanic fixed the problem with a part from O'Reilly's. It's an OEM product they put in. After the part was fixed on Saturday August 20th, we called back like the agent said to get the reimbursement form. That's when the agent told us we could not be reimbursed because it wasn't done at the dealership. They have told us many different stories on how we are supposed to take care of this recall. But the dealership couldn't have fixed it anyway because there's no fix for it in place. I'm not working due to health issues and I go to many doctors appointments so I have to have a working vehicle with working windshield wipers. So in case it were to rain I wouldn't get into a horrible car accident like we almost did on Friday. I just want to be reimbursed for the recall that they still do not have a fix for. How are people supposed to drive around in vehicles that could have faulty windshield wipers, possibly causing accidents and even death?.
I was heading north on US23 in northern Michigan when I was in a rainstorm, traffic was going about 30mph due to how hard the rain was coming down and I had my windshield wipers on full blast when they suddenly stopped working and sat there in the middle of my windshield. I had to cut across 2 lanes of highway traffic with very little visibility to pull over on the shoulder of the highway to figure out my windshield wipers and let the storm pass. I found out there is a recall on the wiper windshield motor, however Chevrolet does not have parts to fix the issue until December at the earliest. They do not have a temporary fix. They do not offer rental cars. Basically Chevrolet is forcing customers to fix this issue out of pocket at their expense and when I reached out for reimbursement, they told me that is not a possible solution.
On Friday, August 5th my state experienced torrential downpours and floods. While driving my windshield wipers stopped working. It was almost impossible to see, and I was fortunate that I opted to NOT take the highway home that afternoon, but opted for the longer route on suburban roads. I slowly made my way to a nearby church and parked my car. Upon retrieval and inspection the next day, it was discovered that a ball joint had corroded and broke, causing the failure. My vehicle had been in approximately a month prior at an authorized Chevrolet dealer, and nothing was said to us about the car having an active recall on the wiper system, specifically the ball joints, the very part that failed. I contacted Chevrolet's customer service department and was told that the recall remedy was not finalized, though according to NHTSA the part is to be inspected and replaced if necessary. Further, I was advised when the remedy is available, we will receive a letter and can submit for reimbursement. There was no warning that there was a problem. When we took our vehicle in for service a month ago, it should have been inspected. It was not. I could have had an accident and serious injuries could have occurred. Chevrolet needs to get the vehicles under the recall pulled in immediately for inspection. Further, authorized dealers need to advise their clients when there is a recall when they have their vehicle in for service.

Windshield wipers stopped working, attempted to get the car repaired at a local dealership, they stated the windshield wiper recall was not office yet and they also did not have any parts to complete the repairs. I could not drive the car without the windshield wipers being operable, had to pay our of pocket to have the repairs done.
On May 6, 2022 I was driving my 9 yr old daughter home from school during a severe rainstorm and my wind shield wipers just stopped working. Absolutely no movement from them. I got out in this storm on the side of the highway to try to fix them and they would not move. I was 30 minutes from my home and my weather app stated the storm would not stop for hours so I had to drive home with no wipers. I am a single mother of 2 kids with absolutely no help and this is my only vehicle. I've been caught in the rain multiple times in this car since May and I've never shaken in fear like I have when I have to figure out how to get this car home in the rain. I have to check the weather multiple times a day if I need to go anywhere to make sure I don't get caught in a storm. I've canceled multiple doctor appointments because it was storming during the time of the appointment. I had to cancel a trip I planned on taking my kids on because I could not afford to rent a car and I am too afraid to drive my car very far from home. It's summer and my kids are out of school and I can't take them anywhere far because I am too afraid to drive this car because it rains a lot here in the summer. There are no warning lights, nothing else happening...it sounds like the motor works but nothing happens when I turn them. Believe me, I try every time I get in. I took the car to a dealership(Moses in Huntington, WV - Trish Marnix the service manager tried to help) to see if they could see if it was a quick fix however it was not.

I was on my way to work and it was raining, my wipers just stopped working approximately a month ago, I had to pull over due to unsafe lack of visibility. A couple weeks later I rec'd a recall notice in the mail related to the wiper issue. I followed the directive of the representative when I called them to see how to proceed with the repair. The representative indicated I needed to take the vehicle to my nearest certified GM repair location so I took half a vacation day on the 12th of May to do so. They had the parts to repair the wipers but since the Recall Info indicated "No Remedy" yet on the GM Website, they were going to charge me $350 to do the repair. I of course do not have that kind of money and they also charged me for just taking a look at the wipers, $52.50 on top of losing half a day's vacation and my time. Since then it has rained nearly every day and I drive 25 minutes to and from work daily. Very unsafe.
