TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY POINT WHERE THE ENGINE WOULD BECOME WARM, THE ENGINE WOULD REMAIN WARM FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS AFTER SHUTTING OFF. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THERE TO BE A DEFECT IN THE WIRING OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF OUR HOME. I SAW FLAMES ON DRIVER'S SIDE, WHICH QUICKLY CONSUMED THE ENTIRE INTERIOR. 911 WAS CALLED AND OUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT IT OUT. THE FIREMAN BELIEVES IT WAS CAUSED BY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *TR
I OWNED A 2006 IMPALA WITH 100,000 MILES ON IT. ON 11-11-2009 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 45 MILES AN HOUR AND CROSS 3 LANES IN HEAVY TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE. AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND STARTED SMOKING. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED AND I OWE MORE ON IT THAN IT IS WORTH. LUCKILY I HAVE GAP INSURANCE BUT FINDING A NEW CAR WITHOUT A SIZEABLE DEPOSIT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. THIS WAS AN ERROR THAT GM SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THIS. CAR FIRES JUST DON'T HAPPEN OUT OF NOWHERE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAS TO ROUTINELY REPLACE THE BATTERY. ON ONE OCCASION, WHEN THE BATTERY DROPPED BELOW 8 VOLTS, IT LOCKED THE TRANSMISSION AND PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM SHIFTING INTO GEAR. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 8,700. UPDATED 05/21/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD A GARMIN GPS PLUGGED IN MOST OF THE TIME WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY, BUT IT SHOULDN'T RESULT IN DEAD CELLS. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD SERIOUS DOUBTS ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE BATTERY. UPDATED 05/27/09.*JB
BATTERY DIED WHILE THE CAR SAT IN THE GARAGE. VERY LOW MILEAGE. AFTER CHARGING CAR WAS ALRIGHT FOR A WEEK OR TWO. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY UNDER WARRANTY. SOLVED THE PROBLEM. *TR
KEYLESS ENTRY/REMOTE STARTER. *TR
BROUGHT TO A DEALER THAT ADVISED THE FRONT SEAL WAS LEAKING THEY REPAIRED IT AND GAVE THE VEHICLE BACK. THEN THE REAR DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING AND SHE STILL SMELLED THE BURNING. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED AND THAT THEY WERE SURPRISED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT CATCH FIRE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING AND SHE STILL EXPERIENCED THE BURNING SMELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED ON HOW TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IS FOUND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22000. VS
BATTERY DIED. MY CAR IS AN 2006. I WORK APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES FROM WORK GOING AND COMING. I PURCHASED MY CAR IN FEBRUARY 2007. IN AUGUST 2008 BY BATTERY DIED. I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW ONE FOR 89.00. I BELIEVE SOMETHING IN THE CAR IS CAUSING THE BATTERIES TO DIE IN THE CAR AS I HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF AT LEAST 4 OTHER PEOPLE WITH IMPALA THAT HAVE ALSO HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR TIME PERIOD. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ IN DECEMBER OF 2005 AND APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AGO I STARTED TO RECEIVE A MESSAGE FROM THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER ON AT LEAST FIVE OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MORE THAN FULFILLED IT'S PART OF THE BARGAIN IN THAT THEY HAVE RE-PROGRAMMED THE SYSTEM ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS AND HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE FACTORY REP. INDIVIDUAL SENSOR ON THE PROBLEM WHEEL, (RIGHT REAR), HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED, ALL TO NO AVAIL. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS CONTACTS BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER DURING THIS TIME. THE LAST THAT I HEARD AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE AT THE SHOP FOR TWO DAYS WAS THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR A CALL BACK FROM A SERVICE REP AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONSIDERING REPLACING THE ENTIRE RIGHT WHEEL AND HUB. THIS WAS ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO AND I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE IS NOT READING THE TIRE PRESSURE CORRECTLY. THE KEYLESS ENTRY DOESN'T FUNCTION CORRECTLY EITHER. IN ORDER FOR THE KEYLESS ENTRY TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY, CONTACT HAS TO BE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS TAKEN HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND HE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WITH HIS VEHICLE. CONTACT CURRENTLY HAS THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNTIL FURTHER THE MANUFACTURE PROVIDES INFORMATION ON HOW TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAS COPIES OF THE INVOICES IF NEEDED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE PULLING OUT FROM A STOP THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED TO READ. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS AND THE ENGINE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AND THE FUSE BOX PANEL WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT THE FUSE BOX CONNECTORS WERE TIGHTENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT AND WAS AWAITING INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
I PURCHASED A 2006 IMPALA GT IN JANUARY. AROUND AUGUST 3, 2006, MY FOB KEY STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR SAT. AUG 5. THEY FIXED MY KEY AND AS I WAS LEAVING AN EMPLOYEE INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD TO GET HER KEY FIXED APPROX. 6 TIMES. MONDAY, AUGUST 7, 2006 AS I WAS WALKING TO MY CAR I TRIED TO UNLOCK MY DOORS AND I COULDN'T; MY KEYS FAILED ONLY 2 DAYS AFTER HAVING IT FIXED. I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF I COULD BRING IT IN. I WAS INFORMED I HAD TO MAKE AN APPT. I MADE ONE FOR SATURDAY BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO LET ME BRING MY CAR IN AFTER I CAME HOME FROM WORK EVEN THOUGH THEY CLOSED AT 7:00 PM. I TOOK MY CAR IN SATURDAY AND A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TRIED TO FIX IT HIMSELF. HE COULDN'T, SO THEY TOOK IT TO THE BACK. AS I AM WAITING FOR MY CAR, A MAN BOUGHT IN HIS CHEVY COBALT FOR THE SAME REASON, HIS KEYS WOULD NOT WORK. ONCE MY CAR WAS READY THE REP GAVE ME A RECEIPT AND TOLD ME THAT THEY USUALLY DIDN'T FIX KEYS ON THE WEEKENDS...I HAD THEM FIXED THE WEEK BEFORE AND NO ONE SAID ANYTHING, PLUS I HAD AN APPOINTMENT.*JB
REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON, THEN CAR STOPPED. I WAS NOT FAR FROM HOME ON THE FIRST FAILURE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND A BAD GROUND WIRE AND REPLACED IT. THE SECOND FAILURE , THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE THIS TIME AND WAS TOWED. THEY FOUND A BRAKE SWITCH SHORTED AND WIRE SHORTED TO THE BCM THIS OCCURRED ON 10-12-05. NOW WHEN THE WIPERS ARE ON HIGH THE CAR ROCKS FROM FRONT TO BACK ! *NM
