Vacuum pump intermittent failure. Not always but during periods of traffic the brakes get stiff and I have a service brake assist notification come on. Then it goes away and all braking is functional and fine
I was pulling up behind a vehicle that was entering the highway when I noticed that the driver had to yield to oncoming traffic and did not continue driving. I applied my brakes, but the vehicle did not come to a complete stop, and as a result, I struck the vehicle in front of me. My safety was put at risk, as this could have resulted in a major accident. Additionally, my car insurance premiums increased because of this incident. I was never informed about the recall, nor did I receive any phone calls or mail notifications regarding it. I only became aware of the recall recently after seeing posts on social media, which prompted me to contact my dealership. Upon doing so, I was advised that my vehicle does in fact have an active recall. I don't have any warning lamps or anything advising me of this issue.
ABS system and trailer brakes lights on dashboard come on and until the truck is off and sits for awhile the abs will start working again. Have had several shops look at it and have heard several different things. Started with the cheaper side of things and still no luck for a solution.
For the last month or so, occasionally when I am going anywhere around 30-60 and I press the brakes, the vehicle will lose power for a few seconds and Stabilitrak is activated. It has locked up the brakes twice in the last 2 weeks when I was parking and could have caused an accident and if it happens when I am driving, I worry that it will cause an accident. I did some research and saw that there is a recall on my year and model. The symptoms it describes are exactly what my truck is doing but when I put in my VIN, it does not show the recall on my truck.
There is a recall (N182202780) for certain models of gm apparently, but my truck does not fall under the recall though it is the same exact problem with the brake vacuum. When pumping my brake pedal, my brakes become almost non responsive, causing me to back into my secondary vehicle.
We had a auto shop do work and left are breaks lose And they do not tighten bolts both break calibers were lose and according to the lawyer we spoke with they do not have a business licenses Triad Transmission & Auto Repair 244 NC-22, Ramseur, NC 27316 Junior akins and John kearns
While tapping brakes to park in tight spaces or inching up in a drive thru, the brake pedal shudders and gets stiff. It's extremely hard to stop the truck.
Brake pedal hard to push down. Almost drove through shop door, going slow. Heavy equipment and cdl class A driver over 40 years. Fluid is full, brake pads and related items are correct. Shut engine off waited few minutes, seemed ok. It did it again immediately, hard two other drivers try with similar results. Odd noise coming from under hood when pedal is applied. No leaks observed or detected. Pedal is solid near top no fade at all.
it is available and the brakes and steering is very stiff my safety no brakes no it hasnt been serviced at a dealership no inspections by dealership they appeared all at once on 10/11/24 no warning lamps
Abs stabalink light come on and off, shaking of wheel when applying brakes, changed rotors last year thought that was problem had a little brakes pedal shake.
The failing system is the hydraulic brake system. The brakes are failing in my vehicle causing it hard to stop, and having to press extremely hard on the brake for extended periods of time in order to properly stop. As I first push on the brakes I hear a squeak. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection any time. My safety as well as my four daughters safety has been at risk of a crash due to the hardness of trying to break or the vehicle not coming to a stop in time. Yes the problem has been confirmed by a local mechanic. There have no been any inspections in regards to manufacture, police officers, etc. My warning light and another light have previously came on and will later go off, it does not stay on continuously.
I have found that when pressing my brake pedal, it gets very very hard and the truck doesn’t want to stop unless I’m practically standing on the brake pedal. My mechanic has been through the entire system and believes the issue stems from a faulty Vacuum pump. This is apparently a standing recall for my 2016 Silverado but when I supply my vin number it says that I have no unrepaired recalls. At no point has Chevrolet ever notified me that this recall needed to be completed. But my problem is exactly the same as the problems noted on the recall
ok the problem is with the brakes, there were four incidents when the brake pedal gets hard and its hard to stop the truck. all four incidents happened backing into my driveway after stepping on the brake pedal 4 to 5 times it would hard. and it would be difficult to stop. The problem is with the brake booster vacuum pump. There was a recall for that exact problem on 2014-2018 silverados. I called the dealership, they told me my VIN # was not one of the listed ones for the recall. the vehicle is available for inspection if requested. the vehicle has not been inspected or confirmed by a dealer. there were no warnings lamps or messagesl. Im certain its the brake booster vacuun pump.
I had brakes fixed from recall But they were not properly fixed they gave out on me again barely going 5 miles an hour I hit the back of some one They still are not working properly.
Backing up truck to put a boat in the water and no brakes had put push really hard to stop the truck from going in to the lake. When moving slowly there is hardly any brakes on the truck
low RPM braking failure. Power assistance fails at low RPM (around 500 - 600) requiring me to apply full body weight to brake pedal to get vehicle to slow and stop. This is a well known and documented problem, but NHTSA won't extend a recall for this issue even when issuing recalls for same problem on other GM trucks, why?
I was in a drive thru food chain going forward slowly. The brakes seemed hard and I had to really push hard to get the vehicle to stop. I went to a private mechanic who I trust totally. I had the front rotors and all pads replaced due to normal wear. We went on a trip with no braking issues. After returning home and backing down the driveway the brakes seemed hard again and was not stopping the vehicle properly. There were no warning lights on. This only seems to occur at very low speeds and is an alarming when it happens. I have been told by a dealership that there are no recalls on this vehicle. However looking on line I have seen videos and articles about faulty vacuum pumps and braking modules that needed reprogramming that effect braking as I have described. I don't want to take this to a dealership until I know for sure if there is a recall or not. Thanks
My 2016 Chevy Silverado had intermittent hard braking. Especially at slower speeds the brake pedal would get very hard to press and needed a lot of effort to stop. I was especially concerned having newer drivers in my household that the truck was unsafe. I nearly hit others vehicles especially at stoplights and in parking lots. The vehicle was taken to the GM dealer who said it was under recall and completed the repairs. However even though the recall repairs were completed the vehicle still continued to have hard braking issues. It was not resolved until I had the brake vacuum booster pump replaced by a 3rd party as GM was unwilling to complete the repair under the recall
Backing up slowly with/without a trailer and have to pump the brakes to stop or stand on the brakes or pumping the brakes and having to use the emergency brake to stop, rev up the engine, put in reverse and have to do the previous steps all over again. This only happens going slowly in reverse. I was told by a mechanic it could be the vacuum pump or TSB on the vacuum pump. No warning messages display. This is a safety risk to myself and others and could cause an accident.
No brakes at low speed. Problem persists after recall. Needs a vacuum pump. Known problem with Chevrolet and they won’t replace it.
Was driving got up to stop sign the belt made a squaling noise and the brake pedal was hard brakes failed and i couldnt stop
My 2016 Chevy Silverado is experiencing the same low speed braking problem that occurs mostly at low speeds like driving in parking lots or stop and go traffic as defined in 19V-645 and N192268490. Driving at these speeds and braking feels like the brakes are completely failing and require excessive force on the brake pedal to stop. What do I do?
Truck does not stop have to apply hard brakes and even then truck won’t come to a complete stop
AFTER DRIVING FOR 4 HOURS BRAKES WONT WORK PROPERLY, BRAKING POWER DECREASES AND IS REALLY HARD TO STOP.
ABS is activated at low speed. Hard pedal and stopping is almost impossible at speeds less than 5 MPH in forward or reverse drive.
