WHENEVER BRAKING ON DRY PAVEMENT ABS WOULD KICK IN WITHOUT WARNING. VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO STOP, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. TOOK TO DEALER & HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED FOR THE THIRD TIME AFTER IT WAS BLOWN TWICE IN ONE MONTH. HAD EVERYTHING IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS CHECKED, FLUIDS REPLACED, ROTORS TURNED, ETC. DEALER IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY PROBLEM. *AK *ML

THIS IS MY SECOND SUBMISSION OF A COMPLAINT. THE FIRST ONE WAS ODI ID 522933. I RESUBMIT BECAUSE I AM INTENSLY FRUSTRATED WITH THE APPARENT LACK OF ACTION ON THE PART OF GM REGARDING MY YEAR VEHICLE. ON 7/21/99, A LARGE GMC RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED PERTAINING TO ABS PROBLEMS. MY YEAR SUBURBAN WAS EXCLUDED PENDING FURTHER INVESTIGATION. GM STATED THEY WERE WORKING TO ADDRESS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ISSUES WITH MY YEAR VEHICLE. THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING WITH ME ALONG THESE LINES. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE MANY OF THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT ARE DESCRIBED IN YOUR CURRENT COMPLAINT SUBMISSIONS FOR 1993 SUBURBANS. WHAT IS BEING DONE?? THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. IS GM JUST WAITING UNTIL THE 92 THRU 94S JUST ROT AWAY AND ARE NO LONGER A PROBLEM. EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED ON WET ROADS. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURER'S RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
OVER THE ENTIRE TIME THAT WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE, THE BRAKES AND THE ABS SYSTEM HAVE NOT OPERATED RELIABLY. WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN ON AN IRREGULAR OR WET STREET (EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS, BELOW 30MPH), AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND ALL BRAKING EFFECT VANISHES MOMENTARILY. THIS DEFINITELY INVOLVES THE ABS SYSTEM, BECAUSE THERE IS THE CHARACTERISTIC VIBRATION OF THE PEDAL WHEN THE SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED. ABS ACTIVATION DURING THESE EPISODES IS INAPPROPRIATE, INEFFECTIVE, AND DANGEROUS TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. *AK

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT UP AHEAD. WENT TO APPLY BRAKES, AND THE VEHICLE JUST KEPT ON GOING. REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
REPORTING ONGOING PROBLEM WITH BRAKE SYSTEM; WHEVER BRAKES ARE APPLIED PEDAL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO TO THE FLOOR AND A MAKE A DULL SOUND, AND CAUSE A EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE BACK WHEEL HITS A SMALL BUMP, PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, AND VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, SOMETIMES THE BRAKES GO STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD, AND PULL RIGHTOR LEFT. SOMETIMES THE BRAKES WORK INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
#EA95026 CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 52 MPH , CONSUMER HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP, AND WITHIN 90 FEET SPAN VEHICLE ONLY DEACCELERATED TO 45 MPH EVEN WITH THE BRAKES FULLY APPLIED, CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION. COSNUMER HEARD THE ABS KICK IN, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. *AK
WHILE MAKING A NORMAL STOP BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN MUCH FURTHER THAN NORMAL AND THE TRUCK BARELY STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A SMOOTH/DRY ROAD SURFACE. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP. PROLBEM WAS CORRECTED BY A REPAIR SHOP AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED WHEN TIRES ENCOUNTERED UNEVEN PAVEMENT.
