SERVICE AIR BAG POPPED UP ON DISPLAY. NO DAMAGE HAD BEEN DONE AND IT SHOWED UP ONE DAY BUT THEN IT WOULD GO OFF AFTER I STARTED DRIVING THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD AT LOW SPEEDS. NEXT TIME I TURNED IT ON IT WASN'T ON THE DASH AT ALL. IT CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY AND THEN IT HAS NOT TURNED OFF AT ALL WHILE THE CAR IS ON. WAS NOT SURE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON IT BUT NONE WERE FOUND. IN THE PAST BOTH OF MY SUBARUS HAS THIS SAME SERVICE SIGN POP UP AND BOTH WERE RECALLED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT WAS STARTING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE IN THE PROCESS OF DIAGNOSING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY FLASHES. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RETURN THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 120,722.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE ENGINE SIZE AND # OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 55,000.
NONMOVING AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT UPON ENGINE START. 2003 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN Z71, VIN: [XXX]VEHICLE MILEAGE: 37,802. WE LOADED THE CHILDREN (FOUR CHILDREN UNDER THREE YEARS OF AGE) INTO THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE, AND I PULLED THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE AND ONTO THE DRIVEWAY. THEN, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF TO WAIT FOR MY WIFE, WHILE SHE GATHERED A FEW FINAL ITEMS FOR OUR PICNIC. WITHIN A SHORT TIME, MY WIFE OPENED THE REAR LIFT GATE TO PLACE A STROLLER IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE (THIS CANNOT BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THE VEHICLE INSIDE THE GARAGE IT MUST BE PULLED OUT ONTO THE DRIVEWAY, AT LEAST PARTIALLY, IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TASK). MY WIFE ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND SAT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I WAS ALREADY IN THE DRIVER SEAT WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. I TURNED THE KEY TO START THE ENGINE AND EXPERIENCED AN IMMEDIATE DEPLOYMENT OF ALL FOUR AIRBAGS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE (STEERING WHEEL, PASSENGER DASHBOARD, AND SIDE-IMPACT BAGS ON THE DOOR-SIDE OF BOTH THE DRIVER SEAT AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT). *NM UPDATED 07/16/02012 *JS INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2003 SUBURBAN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHEN ENGINE WAS STARTED. *TS *JB
DT: VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AT 5000 MILES, AND NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. CHEVY FIXED IT 3 TIMES, AND IT STILL KEEPS COMING ON. THE LAST TIME, THEY REPLACED EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE AIR BAGS. AT FIRST GM SAID THE AIR BAG DEFECT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACCIDENT THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT, AND NOW THEY SAY IT IS BECAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. IT IS VERY UNSAFE. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER AND MIDDLE FRONT SEATBELTS REQUIRE AN EXTENSION BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO SHORT, AND SO IT IS UNSAFE. *TT
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH BOARD. AS A RESULT THE AIR BAGS BECAME INOPERATIVE AND WOULDN'T DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED. DEALERSHIP REPLACED EVERY AIR BAG COMPONENT, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *NM
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF. AFTER 10,000 MILES CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR VEHICLE. CURRENTLY, THEY WERE TELLING THE CONSUMER THAT THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE SENSOR AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE. THE PARTS WERE ON ORDER. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED 3 WEEKS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH 23,000 MILES ON IT. *AK
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE IT WAS HIT FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, THE IMPACT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HIT A TELEPHONE POLE HEAD ON. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
THE DEALER HAS MADE 21 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG , HOWEVER THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. *JB GM AGREED TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE FOR A MILEAGE FEE. *JB
