The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to turn to the left or right before the vehicle stalled. The steering assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over and restart and driven to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. Prior to the failures, the vehicle was difficult to start while cold-starting. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V348000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

We purchased the vehicle in 2020 with appx 33,000 miles. In fall 2023- winter 2024 it began having electrical glitches when the weather was cold. The car will start, but will not shift into gear. It throws alarms such as service Parking Brake, Shifter, Engine, Traction Control and that you must put it in Park. Although it obviously is in park or it wouldn't have started. The dealership kept it for a month Nov-Dec 2023 and could not get it to recreate the problem, but replaced the battery since it "failed". We went on vacation for Christmas and had issues with it not shifting after it sat all night in the cold. However, the problem is intermittent. But the cold seems to be the consistent factor. Once the weather warms up, it does fine. Although 1 time in sumer 2024 with very high temps 100+ it threw the same alarms and would not shift into gear upon starting the car. We continued to have issues in Fall 2024/Winter 2025. It did great throughout spring and summer, began issues again in Fall 2025 into this Winter 2026. It has left us stranded, unable to get the car to shift sometimes for 10-15 minutes while we "warm up the car" but sometimes it takes 30-60 minutes. We've began putting a space heater nearby it for a couple of hours each morning before we need to drive it, but that doesn't always work either. While extremely frustrating, it hasn't been considered dangerous until a week ago. We came out of church and it was chilly, so I expected it would not shift into gear. It surprised me when it started AND shifted. However, as soon as I got on the main road up to 40mph, the engine completely lost power and threw all the same alarms. The stretch of county road had no shoulders and deep ditches, so barely made it coasting to a neighborhood to pull over. Searching on the Internet, we narrowed it down to the CAN BUS star connector, replaced it, and it drove better than ever! Until it was cold that night! Likely needs soldered, can't reach it behind glovebox.

Dec 2025

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to be restarted after 30 minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for an oil change and tune-up. The dealer determined that the failure could be related to the motor mounts. The dealer replaced the motor mounts; however, the failure recurred within an hour while the contact was driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wiring underneath the front passenger's seat had failed. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

I have been driving, usually at lower speeds and the entire electrical system shuts down. This has left me and my children in the middle of a busy road without brake lights. It has happened multiple times. The battery will be dead and charge multiple times, but then I end up having the electrical failure. It is terrifying. I had the battery checked and it is not the issue. I have not contacted the dealership, but plan on it tomorrow.

I own a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid that is currently under active recall and within the 8-year federal hybrid warranty. My vehicle is covered under Recall 20V334 (W46). The high-voltage (HV) battery has failed, rendering the vehicle undriveable. The dealership confirmed the battery needs to be replaced and opened a warranty claim, but they do not have parts available. Despite this, Chrysler has refused to provide me with a rental or loaner vehicle while the car is awaiting repair — citing that my vehicle is “not a 2019 or newer.” I was also denied escalation to a supervisor by Chrysler’s customer care team, even after I requested further review. This leaves me and my family without safe, reliable transportation. Chrysler’s refusal to provide a rental violates the intent of the recall process, which is to protect drivers and passengers from unsafe conditions. The car cannot be driven, and there is no known repair date. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Chrysler’s refusal to support owners affected by this recall — especially those with vehicles built before 2019 who are still within the hybrid warranty period. I am concerned that Chrysler is selectively denying recall support to 2017 and 2018 model years despite the recall applying to 2017–2020 Pacifica Hybrids.

My car keeps draining my battery. Just bought brand new batteries from Less Schwab and they are both failed! The auto shop did a draw test and says the car isn't drawing power. But it's drawing power somewhere. I found 2 videos saying there's issues with the sliding door wiring corroding? Still working snd causing issues. So I'm going to test it out myself. Super frustrating. Had to buy new batteries as soon as I bought from the dealership last year and now those batteries are dead!

Sometimes when the car starts, the lights on the gear shift won’t light up, and you cannot put the car into drive or any other gear. Seems to be related to the electrical box inside of the glove compartment. Have seen videos of other drivers that have noticed the same issue.

Nov 2024

I was driving, slowing down approaching stop sign and the car just shut off leaving me stranded in the middle of a road, blocking traffic. It is a start/stop push button so there was no way to get it in gear to move it. Everything was completely locked up. I had my child in my car with me. If we had been 10 minutes further into my trip, I would have been on the highway and we probably would have been killed as a result of the car just shutting off. I had to have it towed and am waiting to hear what the repair shop finds but they are expecting an electrical short. I see this is a problem with the hybrids of the same time period. I think you need to investigate the non-hybrid cars as well.

Jun 2024

The screen stopped working I couldn’t see the backup camera and the radio wasn’t working and I haven’t been able to open the door or unlock the door. I went and replaced batteries in the remote at dealership and it still does it from time to time. And the screen has gone black several times. I haven’t touched anything to cause it. I had to turn the van off and back on again 2 times before I could get it to work again.

From the date of purchase, the check engine light came on and was told it was a software/computer issue. 3 months into having the car it stalled on the freeway. ABS light came on, and engine repair, and several other lights. I was told it was the two batteries, the AUX and the car battery. Replaced both at the dealer. A year and a half later, the car stalled again pulling out of my garage. A-light with circle and exclamation point came on. Turned car off and the A light turned off. Now engine light comes on and off whenever. Had it looked at and it is showing a repair for fuel line kit, which was repaired last year and mechanic said it does not need to be repaired, another software/computer error. Engine light will stay on for a day and turn off for a week, then turn back on again. Car has been serviced so many times at the cost of $200 per visit to the dealer. I am afraid it will stall on me again and the issue is not repaired and falls under the recall for 2017 models that were stalling.

Nov 2023 Injury

Electrical problems since purchase (new). Warranty repairs by 2 dealers. The rear lift warning buzzer went out causing me to be hit in the head and getting black eye. The buzzer is out again, but not repaired as the part has been on back order for months. Dealer said over 100 of the same part by various dealers on the back order. This is a major problem as car purchased for use with my dogs and w/o buzzer they also are not warned when ‘door’ coming down. For the part to not be available for so long is unacceptable and since covered under paid warranty I think Chrysler is neglecting the warranty owners. Also, since the part has failed before, they are aware it’s a faulty part but have not done anything to keep the part stocked,

The vehicle has had constant electrical issues. The car freaks out at sporadic times. This can include power cutting in and out while driving, suddenly being unable to put into gear, or unable to start the vehicle at all. Symptoms include tactometer and speedometer simultaneously going up all the way and down over and over again, engine slowing down and starting. Lights on the shifter flashing (this was replaced). A Dealer service rep saw it when I drove in, but was unable to mimic it since it happens so sporadically - they had never seen it before and eventually said, "We don't know what to do."

We keep receiving a service shifter error. We have taken it to the dealership 4 times. When the error comes up we are not able to change the gears. After a while, it starts to work normally again. Now as we drive it we get a bunch of error codes and it is hard to press down on the gas. Today when my husband put it in reverse the car did not move.

The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that after operating the rear power sliding doors to open, she then depressed the button to close the rear power sliding doors; however, as the contact's relative was entering the vehicle in between the power rear sliding door closing, the sliding doors failed to stop when the contact depressed the OPEN/CLOSE button to stop the doors from closing. As a result, the sliding power door continued to close shut on the relative’s right calf, requiring medical attention. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,295.

While turning to the intersection the van stop suddenly. On the dashboard there's a flashing "shift to P to start" message. There were no signs and warnings before it happened and there were no symptoms as well. This incident is very scary especially my three kids are with me as I just picked them up from the school. It also cause traffic in the intersection and frustration from the other drivers because everyone was accelerating and had to make a sudden stop. I believe that this is an electrical problem and it is a total safety hazard. It could be a major accident if this happen while driving in the freeway. Now I am scared to drive this van and very worried for the safety of my family.

Feb 2023

The vehicle sometimes abruptly shuts off when it is stopped while running such as at a traffic light. It also abruptly shuts off when at a low speeds (0-5 mph). This occurs after the car has been operating for several minutes. This presents a safety hazard because the unexpected shut off can occur when the car in a precarious traffic situation. A quick message flashes on the display before the shut off. Usually too quick to read but seems to say something like, “service electronics”. Occurs at at least once a week. Car is driven 7 to 10 times per week so this incident occurs at least once out of every 10 trips. These incidents have been occurring for at least 2 months.
