Driver's Active Head Restraint (AHR) deployed while driving the vehicle.
While driving to the store (with my son in the front passenger seat) all of a sudden, and for no apparent reason, the front passenger seat headrest popped (came forwards) striking him in the back of the head with substantial force stun him temporarily. The startled me. He had a headache for a couple hours afterwards.
The rear bolt which holds the automatic lift for the rear hatch broke off and is stripped. The trunk door is no longer being supported by the arm and is quite heavy. Every mechanic is unable to address the issue and this seems to be very common among this model of the car. The broken bolt is flushed against the frame of the vehicle. Images of the issue are included. Here is a discussion post of consumers discussing this same issue for reference.. The rear taillights are taking in water and causing the lights to go out. This appears to be a systemic issue with Dodge Durango's as based on the fact of the high number people indicating the same issue on Dodge Durango Facebook pages.
The front passenger headrest sprung out and hit my husband in the back of the head while we were driving.
Driver headrest randomly deployed hit me in the back of the head and strained my neck
The passenger side headrest deployed (popped forward). The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for inspection. This is a major concern since this could happen to the driver as well while driving and potentially cause an accident. The manufacturer knows about this and has an active warranty to cover it. However, why is this not an active recall? It’s a major safety concern for drivers if this happens while driving the vehicle.
The power actuator for the rear lift gate broke free of its mount causing the actuator to damage the interior of the vehicle as well as causing the rear lift gate to slam closed. Luckily there was no one under the lift gate when this malfunction occurred, but if a child were in the way of the lift gate serious injury or death could have occurred. It is unacceptable that this powerful of an actuator is relying on one single bolt as its connection. When I took this to the dealership to get fixed, they told me they could not fix it and referred me to a local body shop. I live in a small town of around 65,000, and I was the forth Dodge vehicle in the last year or so they have seen with this same issue. I have contacted Mopar who makes these vehicles, and they were not interested in repairing this with the warranty and referred me to the NHTSA. If there are four of these issues in a town of 65,000 I can only assume there are plenty of others throughout the nation. I have attached a photo of the part that failed.
ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON DRIVERS SIDE DEPLOYED WHILE PARKED. VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWS BROKEN PLASTIC INTERNAL PARTS AND WILL NOT RESET WHEN COMPRESSED.
WHILE DRIVING MY DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST POPPED OPEN AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD.
WAS AT A RED-LIGHT WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED. GOT HIT FORCEFULLY IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD.*DT CONSUMER HAD A NECK SORE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND CONSUMER WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. CASE NUMBER WAS GIVEN.*JB
GETTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE HEAD REST POPED OUT. WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND NO ACCIDENT. NOW I AM SCARED THE DRIVERS HEADREST WILL DO THE SAME WHILE I AM DRIVING.
THE VEHICLE BACK UP CAMERA GOES OUT AND THEN THE ENTIRE RADIO SCREEN GOES OUT AND DOES NOT COME UP FOR DAYS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE AND THE SCREEN GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING.
THE 2015 DURANGO THAT WE PURCHASED CAME WITH HEADRESTS THAT "DEPLOY" IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT (IDEALLY). BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE HEADRESTS HAVE DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A COLLISION. IT IS UNCLEAR WHEN THEY DEPLOYED. IT IS AS THOUGH THE CLIPS HOLDING THEM TOGETHER INTERNALLY JUST GAVE OUT.
VEHICLE WILL TURN OVER BUT WILL NOT START. DEALER CLAIMS BATTERY ISSUE, BUT MOST INDIVIDUALS DISCOVERED THAT IT IS A FUEL PUMP RELAY ISSUE. 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH SAME VEHICLE.
SPONTANEOUS ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYMENT, PASSENGER SIDE, WHILE PARKED. NO COLLISION OCCURRED. DRIVERS SIDE HEADREST ALSO DEPLOYED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE PARKED IN CLOSED GARAGE.
PASSENGER HEADREST CAME APART. A PIECE BROKE INSIDE AND CAUSED THE HEADREST TO SEPARATE. VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING AT THE TIME OF SEPARATION, IT WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY.
PREMATURE WEAR ON TAIL HOUSING SEAL GASKET. WATER LEAKS IN WHEN IT RAINS AND FILLS THE TAIL LIGHT. WATER THEN AFFECTS THE LED WHEN THEN FLICKERS BEFORE IT KILLS THE LED.
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE REAR CLUNKING NOISE ON DRIVER SIDE IS PRESENT OVER SMALL OR MODERATE BUMPS. NOISE IS BECOMING WORSE OVER TIME AND DEALER HAS NO EXPLANATION. SOUND IS BECOMING MORE CONCERNING AND WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY IN THE VEHICLE
PASSENGER HEAD RESTRAINTS DEPLOYED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY
THE CLUTCH PEDAL STICKS TO THE FLOOR. HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. CAN'T ACCELATE OR CHANGE GEARS. NO NOISE OR SMELL OR WARNING PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. PEDAL CAN ONLY BE MANUALLY LIFTED. NO PRESSURE IN CLUTCH PEDAL ANYMORE.
STATIONARY - WHENEVER SOMEONE EXITS THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD CONTINUOUSLY BEEP AND DISPLAY A MESSAGE SAYING KEY FOB NOT DETECTED- BUT IT'S SITTING IN THE CUP HOLDER. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN I'M STOPPED AT A STREETLIGHT AND THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF. DODGE HAS NOTED THE PROBLEM, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ONGOING SINCE 2015.
THE REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED. ON 02.05.2018 I USED THE REMOTE STARTER TO START THE CAR AT APPROXIMATELY 6:15 AM. THE TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 25 DEGREES FARENHEIT IN NEW JERSEY.AS PART OF REMOTE START THE HEAT AND REAR WINDSHIELD ARE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON BELOW A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE. I ENTERED THE CAR AT APPROXIMATELY 6:22 AM AND AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 3/4 MILE THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. PART OF THE GLASS HAD SHATTERED AS WELL AS GLASS AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE REAR.
THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT COLLECTS WATER. THIS IS THE 3RD LIGHT ASSEMBLY THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT NOW HAS WATER IN IT. RESEARCH ONLINE SHOWS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH 2014+ DODGE VEHICLES.
