Brake pedal is very hard to press, there is a hissing noise sometimes it may sound like a whistle inside the car from the brakes. Took car to mechanic & was advised the brake power booster is bad & that there is a recall on it, however for some reason my car is not included in this recall.........why?
The booster went out needs replaced and on other sites it said it is recalled
When braking, the brake petal is hard to push. I traveled about 10 miles the other day and it happened about 20 times so now I'm trying not to drive until Friday when my shop can check the brakes and if I do have to drive I will stay great distance behind other vehicles. The mechanic said it sounds like brake booster problem. I checked online and found that other Ford Edge vehicles are having this problem, but there is no recall.
Front passenger side brake caliper keeps going bad. We have replaced it 3 different times. No trouble out of driver side only passenger.
WHEN MAKING A STOP OR ALREADY STOPPED, THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS VERY HARD TO PUSH. WHEN HITTING THE GAS THERE IS SOME RESISTANCE. I NOTICE THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS STUCK. IN ORDER TO UNSTICK IT, I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT UNDER THE BREAK TO POP IT UP.
WHEN I PRESS THE BREAKS TO STOP, IT IS HARD TO PRESS, LIKE I'M PUSHING AGAINST AIR AND ON A COMPLETE STOP IT CONTINUES TO MOVE IN MOTION. (THE BREAKS DON'T STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN STATIONARY. IT STARTED 2 DAYS AGO AND I'M SCARED BECAUSE I HAD MY NIECE IN THE CAR AND I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD WHERE AN INCOMING CAR WAS GOING TO HIT ME STRAIGHT ON MY LEFT. IF I BREAK IT ALSO JUMPS THE CAR LIKE IF I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND. IT'S VERY ROUGH.
ONE DAY ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN DEPRESSED THE BRAKES HEARD A AIR LIKE SOUND FROM THE UNDER DASH, WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE HAD A STOPPING INSTANTLY AND THEN RELEASE LIKE I COULDN'T STOP THE VEHICLE.REALLY I PANIC CAUSE I COULDN'T STOP..SO I HAD MY HUSBAND TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER GONE BAD..IT COST ME A LOT OF MONEY, SO I ASKED WAS THERE A RECALL THEY SAD NO..I HAVE HAD OTHER PEOPLES THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR FORD EDGE. *TR
I JUST HAD NEW BRAKES PUT ON MY CAR. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE BRAKES WERE VERY SPONGY AND FELT LIKE THEY WOULD NOT WORK. THEY ALSO MADE A LOUD HIGH PITCHED NOISE. MY MECHANIC LOOKED MY CAR OVER AND SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTERS.
WHILE I WAS OUT DRIVING TO GET MY INSPECTION DONE MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP THE BRAKES WERE VERY HARD TO PUSH LIKE I WAS STANDING UP ON IT SO I'VE WENT TO GO GET THE BRAKES REPLACE BEFORE THE INSPECTION AND THE BRAKES WERE STILL HARD TO PUSH THAT'S WHEN THE MACHANIC HAD TRIED AND INFORMED ME THAT IT'S NOT THE BRAKES AND MY CAR IS UNABLE TO STOP EVEN DRIVING AT A VERY LOW SPEED MY CAR WAS CLOSE TO OVER TURNING DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP WITH NEW BREAKS THAT'S WHEN I WAS INFORMED IT'S THE BREAK BOOSTER
THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE
BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE (IN MOTION), IN INVESTIGATING RECALLS ON BRAKE BOOSTERS, FOUND FORD EDGE FROM 2010 TO 2013 HAS RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROADWAY, I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP AND HAD TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN AND COME TO A DEAD STOP. MY 105 LB. DAUGHTER COULD NOT HAVE STOPPED THIS VEHICLE IN TIME AND WOULD HAVE CRASHED. I DROVE SLOWLY TO MY REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE BRAKES AND ADVISED ME THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE ADVISED ME TO REPORT THIS SERIOUS AND POSSIBLY DEADLY PROBLEM TO FORD AND THE FEDERAL SAFETY BOARD.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER, FRONT BRAKES AND REAR BRAKES. THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ON THE 2007 BRAKE BOOSTERS FOR THIS YEAR/MODEL BUT APPARENTLY FORD WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME $982.05 BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I WOULD LIKE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS COST.
MY BRAKES ACT LIKE THEY ARE STUCK A LOCAL MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS MY BRAKE BOOSTER I TRIED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEY WOULD NOT WORK I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE SEL I JUST BOUGHT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND NOW I HAVE 2 DIFFERENT RECALLS ON PLUS A BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUES WITH 2 SENSORS. I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE SEL. RECENTLY PUT BRAND NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS ALL THE WAY AROUND MY VEHICLE. BEFORE I REPLACED THE BRAKES, I NOTICE THE SOUND OF AIR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
I HAVE MY CAR IN THE SHOP GETTING BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED AT $900, FORD HAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 THAT COVERS NEWER CARS. LOOKING ON-LINE THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT AND I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AS A RECALL, NO BRAKES. ALTHOUGH NEARLY COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES ONLY HAPPENED RECENTLY I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE MAY HAVE BEEN BUILDING FOR YEARS. I ALWAYS NOTICED OTHER VEHICLES HAD (TO ME) MUCH TOUCHIER BRAKES. I NOW BELIEVE THAT THE OTHER VEHICLES WEREN'T TOUCHIER, IT WAS MY CAR THAT HAD LOW BRAKING. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING IT SEEMS THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ISSUE YEARS AGO BUT YET IT'S ANOTHER COVER UP BY A CAR MANUFACTURER.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VIBRATING AND THERE WAS A DELAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY 2007 FORD EDGE IS HAVING THE SAME BRAKE ISSUES AS DESCRIBED IN THE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE FOR FORD EDGE 2011-2013. WHY ISNT THIS EXPANDED. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I ALMOST COULDNT STOP MY CAR TWICE TODAY! TWICE! ITS SO SCARY TO BE PRESSING DOWN ON IT AND NOTHING HAPPENING. IT HAS A HISSING SOUND AS WELL. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! I WAS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS AT 20 MILES AN HOUR, THANK GOODNESS IT WASNT FASTER!
