BRAKE BOOSTER: HEARD HISSING SOUND UPON BRAKING. WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THEN BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL AND CAR STARTED TO MOVE AGAIN. HAD TO PRESS HARDER ON THE BRAKE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED TWO DAYS IN A ROW. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A 2007 FORD EDGE SE AWD THAT I PURCHASED IN 2009. I REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN 2010 AND NOW AGAIN IN 2017 IT HAS FAILED AGAIN. I WANT FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS REASON. I WANT MY MONEY BACK FOR THE FIRST REPLACEMENT AND WANT THEM TO COVER THE CURRENT REPLACEMENT. THIS ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I COULD'VE GOTTEN INTO TWO CAR ACCIDENTS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!

MY BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM IS FAILING. I HAVE REPLACED EVERY OTHER BRAKE COMPONENT WITH OEM EQUIPMENT AND NO CHANGE. MY VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS AS SOLID AS A ROCK AND HAS THE FEELING OF "SLIDING ON ICE" YEAR ROUND. THIS PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSED DRAMATICALLY AND QUICKLY. A VERY LOUD HISSING AS IF AIR IS LEAKING BY THE BRAKE PEDAL OCCURS WHEN BRAKING. ABS LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON AND NOTHING ELSE IS AFFECTED SAFETY WISE. VEHICLE SIMPLY BRAKED POORLY AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL NOT STOP. FORD HAS CREATED A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" FOR MY EXACT ISSUE BUT WILL NOT APPLY THEIR WARRANTY/RECALL HELP TO MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE YEAR (2007). THEY SAID IF IT WAS A 2010 OR NEWER THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. IM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME PARTS CONSUMERS HAVE WITH THE 2010 MODELS AND NEWER. ITS RIDICULOUS THAT FORD CAN EXCLUDE ME FROM SOMETHING THEY ARE ACCEPTING FAULT FOR. THIS IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AT ITS WORST. I WANT FORD TO FIX MY BRAKE BOOSTER AND SYSTEM COMPONENTS AS NEEDED TO SAFELY BRAKE ON PUBLIC ROADS.

NO KNOWN BRAKE ISSUE BEFORE AND CAR WAS RECENTLY GIVEN A MAJOR SERVICE CHECK. NO BRAKE ISSUES WERE FOUND DURING THAT CHECK. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN NOTICED HISSING SOUND AND BRAKE FOOT PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLYING BREAKS. WENT IN FIRST IN APRIL AND BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. RECALL WAS NEWER MODEL EDGES SO WE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. WENT BACK IN LESS THAN 90 DAYS LATER IN JULY BECAUSE BRAKES WERE NOT FILLING RIGHT AGAIN. MASTER CYLINDER LEAK WAS FOUND. WAS NOT FOUND THE FIRST TIME SO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT GAVE US A MANAGER DISCOUNT. BRAKE BOOSTER BLEED AND MASTER CYLINDER LEAK. REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM ($961.38) AND MASTER CYLINDER ($290.23). I FEEL THAT THE BREAK BOOSTER SYSTEM AND CONNECTION TO MASTER CYLINDER SHOULD BE PART OF RECALL FOR THIS MODEL EDGE. SINCE BRAKE ISSUES WERE NOT FOUND IN AN EARLIER MASTER SERVICE (I CAN SEND THAT INVOICE AS WELL), I THINK THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS BOUND TO FAIL AS I HAVE READ IN THE RECALL FOR NEWER MODELS.

BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL- I BARELY HAD THIS TRUCK A YEAR, AND THE BRAKES ARE GIVING ME MAJOR PROBLEMS. WHEN I PRESS THE PEDAL. ITS HARD, AND I HAVE TO ALMOST STAND UP ON IT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I'VE HAD THE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED, AND THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM. I STARTED DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER.

TEAR IN BRAKE BOOSTER DIAPHRAGM. COVERED IN MANY OTHER FORD EDGE MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR, BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT MINE. HOWEVER, FORD DOES NOT SEEM ABLE TO PROVIDE ME AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY NOT MY CAR SPECIFICALLY. WAS DRIVING AND WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THEY FELT LIKE A ROCK...THEN WENT TO FEELING SUPER SOFT, WITH A HISSING SOUND EVERY TIME THEY WERE APPLIED. BRAKES ALTERNATED BETWEEN FEELING ROCK HARD TO SUPER SOFT WITH HISSING AND I WAS ALMOST UNABLE TO BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. WHEN CAR WAS PARKED (NOT MOVING), BUT TURNED ON AND BRAKE APPLIED, THERE WAS A LOUD SQUEAL SOUND EACH TIME.

LOOKING AT VARIOUS FORUMS, THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH SEVERAL YEARS OF FORD EDGE VEHICLES IMPACTED. I AM REQUESTING THAT NHTSA LOOK INTO THE MATTER.

I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE SEL PLUS THAT IS IN FOR A BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT AND FORD WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THEIR IS A EXTENDED WARRANTY OFFERED TO NEWER CARS 2010 AND ABOVE. THE PART NUMBER FOR 2007 AND A 2010 IS THE SAME SO THE PART IS BAD ON BOTH VEHICLES. ON MY VEHICLE WE LOST PARTIAL BRAKING AND IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I CALLED FOR WITH NO HELP THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE PART OR LABOR . THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FORD ISSUED IS 13NO2 BUT THEY WILL ONLY HONOR FOR 2010 OR NEWER EVEN THOUGH THE PART IS THE SAME 2010-2012.

BRAKES FELT SPONGY AND HAD A HISSING NOISE, AND WITH PUMPING OR QUICK AND FIRM PRESSING OF THE PEDAL, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME ROCK HARD AND NOT EASILY STOP THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS ALREADY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR 2010-2013 UNDER BULLETIN 13N02 (10 YEAR 150K MILES) SO THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. 2007-2009S HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM YET HAVE BEEN IGNORED. FORD TECH SAYS ITS THE BRAKE BOOSTER DIAPHRAGM.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 FORD EDGE SLE, I NOTICED THE BRAKES STARTED FEELING LIKE THEY WHERE FADING. WHEN I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN, AT FIRST I DIDN'T FEEL THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO STOP AT ALL. I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTREMELY HARD, AND ALSO USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. DURING THIS I COULD HEAR A HISSING NOISE THAT WAS UNUSUAL COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH. AFTER INVESTIGATION I FOUND FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2009, OR MAYBE EARLIER, AND DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. THEY NOW HAVE A " CUSTOMER SATISFACTION " BULLETIN OUT, BUT IT ONLY COVERS 2010-2013 MODEL YEARS, WITH CERTAIN VIN # CODES. MY ENTIRE FAMILY HAS ALWAYS DRIVEN FORD PRODUCTS, BUT THE WAY SUNBELT FORD OF AMERICUS GA. HAS TREATED US WITH THIS PROBLEM, THAT IS ABOUT TO CHANGE. THIS VEHICLE IS STILL LOW MILEAGE, GARAGE KEPT, & AS CLEAN AS BRAND NEW. WE HAVE RELIGIOUSLY KEPT IT SERVICED, AND IN PERFECT SHAPE. WITH A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SOMETHING AS MAJOR AS BRAKES, AND FORD WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PROBLEM, INDICATES TO ME THEY ARE NOT THE COMPANY THEY USED TO BE, & THEY HAVE NO REGARDS FOR DEDICATED CUSTOMERS OF OVER 40 YEARS. JUST MYSELF, SPOUSE, & OUR 3 SONS HAVE PURCHASED OVER 35 BRAND NEW FORD VEHICLES SINCE 1990 RANGING FROM MUSTANGS, TO EXPLORERS, TO F-350S. I FIRST BEGAN TO NOTICE THIS ISSUE WHEN MY 2007 FORD EDGE, WITH 85,000 MILES AT THE TIME, CREATED A HISSING NOISE FROM BEHIND THE STEERING COLUMN AREA WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. EVER SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT EXTREMELY SPONGY BUT I ALWAYS ASSUMED IT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE PEDAL HAD BECOME EVEN SOFTER AND THE CAR BECAME HARDER TO STOP ALONG WITH LOUDER HISSING, I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I DON'T CONSIDER HAVING TO ALMOST STAND ON MY BRAKE PEDAL IN QUICK STOPPING SITUATIONS VERY NORMAL. I HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT BY MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THEY CONFIRMED THAT MY POWER BRAKE BOOSTER HAS A FAIRLY LARGE TEAR IN IT WHICH WILL ONLY GET WORSE AND EVENTUALLY FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY. I WAS TOLD THE COST TO REPLACE THIS BRAKE BOOSTER WAS ABOUT $1000 OR EVEN A LITTLE OVER. BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT WITH AN EXTREMELY TIGHT BUDGET, REPAIRING THIS IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. HAVING PREVIOUSLY PAID OUT-OF-POCKET FOR THE NUMEROUS OTHER REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING MULTIPLE PREMATURE IGNITION COIL FAILURES, BOTH MY SAVINGS AND PATIENCE WITH FORD HAVE DRIED UP. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLY TO BE FED LIES TO LEAD ME ON UNTIL THEY CAN END THE CONVERSATION IN HOPES I WILL FORGET THE WHOLE THING. I AM FULLY AWARE THERE ARE MANY OTHER EDGE OWNERS FACING THIS SAME SITUATION OR EVEN WORSE AND I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. SO NOW, AT 95,000 MILES, I WAIT FOR THE DAY THAT MY BRAKE BOOSTER COMPLETELY FAILS LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER BRAKES. I WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH HARD BRAKE PEDAL SO I CHECKED TO SEE IF BRAKES NEEDED BLEEDING. AFTER DETERMINING THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM I INITIALLY REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AFTER WHICH I REPLACED REAR ROTORS AND PADS WITH NO OR LITTLE IMPROVEMENT. I ALSO WAS CONCERNED THAT WHEN MY BRAKES WERE APPLIED SUDDENLY NOT ONLY WAS THE VEHICLE SLOW IN STOPPING(TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL STOPPING DISTANCE) BUT DID NOT FEEL ABS ACCENTUATE. A FRIEND AND FORMER FORD MECHANIC SUGGESTED IT MAY BE MY BRAKE BOOSTER. SO I REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND PEDAL SEEMED TOO SOFT BUT CAR STOOPED BETTER AND SHORTER, BUT WITHOUT APPLYING HARD AND SUDDEN BRAKE PRESSURE ABS SEEMS TO PREMATURELY ACTIVATE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO CHECK FOR POSSIBLE RECALL OR PROBLEMS WITH CHECK VALVE/ABS. UPON CHECKING FOUND IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS FOR SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE, WHICH CUSTOMER SAYS FORD EVENTUALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BUT CALLED IT "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 INSTEAD OF RECALL. THE CAR WAS A 2007 FORD SEL PLUS ,MY CAR IS 2007 FORD SEL. I CONTACTED FORD TODAY(11/24/2015) CONCERNING A RECALL ON FUEL TANK FOR MY VIN AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THEY SAID THOUGH THEY FIXED OTHER VEHICLE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. MY CONCERNED IS THAT ,THOUGH IT MAY BE COINCIDENTAL BUT STRANGE I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN I PRESSED THE BREAK TO STOP IN TRAFFIC AND ALMOST RAN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BECAUSE MY BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD AND I HAD TO PRESS THEM DOWN TO THE GROUND PRACTICALLY TO STOP. TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP AND WAS TOLD MY BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WAS TOLD THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES LIKE THIS WITH FORD MODELS IN THE PAST. AFTER BASIC INTERNET RESEARCH FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR NEWER MODELS BUT NOT MY MODEL. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON MY YEAR, MAKE, MODEL EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER 2007 FORD EDGES NOT ONCE, BUT EVEN AFTER HAVING BOOSTER REPLACED. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD IS NOT WILLING TO STEP UP AND MAKE RECALL FOR 2007 FORD EDGES WHEN IT IS CLEAR THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS. I AM THANKFUL I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND AM GOING TO FIX MY VEHICLE BUT THINK IT IS FORD WHO SHOULD BE RECTIFYING THIS SITUATION, NOT MY OWN POCKET!
