NYS THRUWAY AT EXIT 18, CLEARED TOLL BOOTH AND WRENCH SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON DASH WITH ASSOCIATED DIALOGUE BOX CHECK OWNERS MANUAL. POWER LOSS WAS IMMEDIATELY EVIDENT WITH NO RESPONSE FROM INPUT TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED WITH POSITIVE RESULTS. TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES AND SAME INDICATION APPEARED ACCOMPANIED BY LOSS OF POWER AND NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHUT OFF AND RE-STARTED ENGINE WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES SO FAR IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. I AM AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC AND IT SEEMS THAT IT'S A SCHEDULING PROBLEM. AFTER THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT IT SEEMS TO RE-APPEAR EVERY 100 MILES, WITH A HALF TANK OF FUEL INDICATED. I RECENTLY ADDED FUEL INJECTION CLEANER TO A FULL TANK OF GAS, SPECIFICALLY FOR A 12 GALLON TANK. THE OIL LIFE IS AT 50% AND A SYSTEMS CHECK INDICATES NO PROBLEMS. ALL INCIDENCES OF THIS HAPPENING WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS RUNNING AND ENGINE TEMP WAS MID- SCALE. *TR
IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THE ENGINE DISCONNECTED FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. A BOX LIT UP ON THE DASH SAYING. "ALL WHEEL DRIVE OFF." THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO CREEP AT AN EXTREMELY SLOW SPEED. I STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED FINE. I DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER INCIDENT FOR A FEW WEEKS. SUNDAY JULY 13 IT STOPPED PROBABLY A DOZEN TIMES ON A 10 MILE ROUND TRIP. SINCE THEN IT HAPPENS 2 OR 3 TIMES A DAY UNTIL TODAY. TODAY IT HAS STOPPED 10 TIMES BEFORE 10:00 AM. (JULY 17, 2014). *TR
SECOND INCIDENT IN 3 WEEKS. WHILE DRIVING, AWD OFF LIGHT APPEARS WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. ANY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE FAILS AND I HAD TO DRIFT THROUGH TRAFFIC TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE ISSUE. BROUGHT IT TO A FORD DEALER DURING FIRST INCIDENT AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC BUT NOTHING CAME UP. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND MY THROTTLE WENT AWAY COMPLETELY WITH NO WARNING. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. I PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND DRIFTED BACKWARDS TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND HURRIED TO GET MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THE CAR IN CASE WE WERE HIT. AFTER A MECHANIC SCANNED IT HE SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT HAVE ONLY COVERED IT THROUGH EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CERTAIN MODELS AND NOT THE EDGE AND THE PART IS $500. I DO NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY AND ITS A FAULTY PART THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN. I HAVE 2 KIDS AND THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. I NEED FORD TO COVER THIS REPAIR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE, AND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. I STILL HAD POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, AND ALL OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES WERE WORKING. ALSO A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WITH A WRENCH ICON. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND THEN TRIED IT AGAIN AND IT EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE ALRIGHT. I GOT TO THE NEXT EXIT AND CALLED AAA AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE CAR IS WORKING WELL AGAIN. *TR
ACCELERATOR GOES LIMP DURING ACCELERATION AND "WRENCH" ICON APPEARS ON DASH. THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WITH ELECTRICAL POWER, PRESSING ON ACCELERATOR HAS NO EFFECT. CAR CAN BE COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD. STOPPING AND RE-STARTING THE ENGINE CLEARS THE ISSUE AND CAR WILL ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED 5 TIMES, AT RANDOM, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS (I.E. 50, 60, 30 MPH). CAR WAS TAKEN INTO DEALER AFTER 2ND OCCURRENCE. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY ERROR CODES STORED AND SAID FORD PROCEDURE IN THIS CASE WAS TO "RESET" COMPUTER. ISSUE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER GETTING VEHICLE BACK FROM DEALER. ON THE 5TH OCCURRENCE OF THE ISSUE, OWNER RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT (VHR) (BEFORE STOPPING AND RE-STARTING ENGINE) AND THE ISSUE WAS CAPTURED IN THE REPORT. HERE IS THE ISSUE DOCUMENTED IN THE VHR: THE WRENCH ICON MAY BE ILLUMINATED IN YOUR DASH OR CONSOLE OR MAY APPEAR IN YOUR MESSAGE CENTER. THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE A PARAMETER THAT IS OUT OF NORMAL RANGE OR THAT A COMPONENT HAS FAILED. SYSTEMS WITHIN YOUR VEHICLE NEED PROMPT SERVICE AND/OR INSPECTION. URGENT POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION / REDUCED POWER POWERTRAIN FAULT: ILLUMINATES WHEN AN ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC), TRANSMISSION, AWD/4X4 OR FUEL SYSTEM FAULT HAS BEEN DETECTED. CONTACT YOUR AUTHORIZED DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER ON MAY 6, 2014. DEALER IDENTIFIED ERROR CODES AND SAID VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY COMPONENT. COMPONENT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. FORD EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN DOES NOT COVER COST, OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPONENT REPLACEMENT ($560.00 ESTIMATED). *TR
ENGINE STALLED ON INTERSTATE. HAD TO PULL INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, SHIFT TO PARK, AND RESTART. APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE THAT FORD HAS RECALLED FOR OTHER MODELS THAT USE THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART! CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AFTER THIS OCCURRED, HOWEVER THE ERROR CODES DO NOT RETAIN AFTER RESTARTING. NO TROUBLE WAS FOUND, COULD NOT REPLICATE. HAVE HAD SUBSEQUENT STALLS SINCE, GOING BACK TO DEALER WEDNESDAY THIS WEEK, HOWEVER WARRANTY HAS NOW EXPIRED. *JS
VEHICLE STALLED. THIS IS THE 4TH STALL. FIRST 3 WERE ON THE INTERSTATE AT SPEED, THIS TIME IN THE DRIVEWAY. DEALER HAS CHECKED AND FOUND NO ISSUES, ALL DIAGNOSTICS ARE GOOD. FULL TANK OF GOOD GAS. NO INDICATIONS OF WHAT'S GOING. SEEMS TO BE IDENTICAL TO THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS INVESTIGATED AND FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED FOR A MORE POPULAR MODEL UNDER FORD CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. BASED ON THE COMPLAINTS I AM REASON ONLINE AND THE WRITE-UPS LEADING TO THE RECALL, BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL MODELS USING THE SAME TECHNOLOGY...LIKELY THE SAME TB ASSEMBLY. *TR
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF MY CAR GOING FROM THE SPEED I AM TRAVELING TO WHERE I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSES MY CAR TO LOOSE SPEED VERY FAST. A YELLOW WRENCH ICON COMES ON EVERYTIME I HAVE THIS ISSUE. MY CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE AND I AM FORCED TO HAVE TO SHUT MY CAR OFF AND WAIT A MOMENT BEFORE I CAN RESTART MY CAR. IT WENT FROM ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS TO A WEEK TO MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. MY HOUR DRIVE TURNS INTO MY CAR DIEING UP TO 14 TIMES JUST ONE WAY. THIS IS BEYOND UNSAFE CAUSE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO A SHOULDER TO SHUT OFF MY CAR. THERE WAS ONE DAY WHERE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR A DAY. MY CAR IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 80K MILES ON IT, THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING. MY CAR HAS BEEN TESTED AND THE READINGS WERE ON THE THROTTLE BODY MODULE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO A SHOP YET BECAUSE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A FAULTY PART THAT FORD HASNT ISSUED A RECALL ON AND REPAIRED WITHOUT MONEY COMING OUT OF MY POCKET. *TR
THE ENGINE REMAINS RUNNING, BUT VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER TO THE WHEELS AND SUDDENLY STOPS. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM 25 MPH ON A COUNTY ROAD TO 55 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE. IT IS UNSAFE AND THE CAR IS UNABLE TO MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS CLEARLY IS A ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE, AND DRAMATICALLY IMPACTS SAFETY, INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A SERIOUS CRASH. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS VERY SAME ISSUE WITH LATER YEARS, INVOLVING A HALF-SHAFT RETENTION CLIP THAT IS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS ISSUE IS OCCURRING WITH OTHER MODEL YEARS, AND REFUSES TO ADDRESS OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE JUST CUT OFF AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME UP. I PULLED OVER OUT OF THE WAY AND IT BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AS I CAME CLOSER TO A STOP, I THEN TURNED THE KEY TO OFF SO IT WOULD STOP SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY. I TRIED RESTARTING IT ( SOMEWHAT STRUGGLED TO RESTART BUT DID COME BACK ON). THE VEHICLE THEN WAS FINE ACTED LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. SINCE THEN THIS HAS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES. I TOOK IT TO FORD TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE EDGE SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY. THEY THEN BEGAN TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS ON SEVERAL VEHICLES AND FORD HAS YET TO RECALL IT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THIS IS THE SECOND ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT EFFECTED THE DRIVING ABILITY. THE CAR HAS YET TO BE FIXED DUE TO WAITING ON FORD'S REPLY TO MY COMPLAINT WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
2ND INCIDENT IN 3 WEEKS. FIRST INCIDENT, WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND SECOND WAS AT 50 MPH ON A REGIONAL ROUTE. WHILE IN DRIVE, WITHOUT WARNING, AWD OFF APPEARS FOLLOWED BY THE WRENCH ICON INDICATING SERVICE IS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR LOSES ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. ENGINE, BRAKES, RADIO, AC ALL STILL WORK, THE ONLY ISSUE IS AN INABILITY TO ACCELERATE AT ALL SO THE CAR BASICALLY IS IN NEUTRAL AND STARTS LOSING SPEED IMMEDIATELY. HAD TO PUT ON EMERGENCY BLINKERS BOTH TIMES, COAST ACROSS BUSY HIGHWAY LANES TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY AS IT COULD BE POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING (THINK IF YOU WERE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, NEEDED TO SPEED UP TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF SOMETHING OR WERE ON TRAIN TRACKS). AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I AM BRINGING IT TO A SEPARATE DEALER AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE A SECOND TIME. OTHER ISSUES THAT REFERENCE SIMILAR EXPERIENCE CITE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY WITH ERROR CODE P21111. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
OUR 2011 AWD FORD EDGE IS HAVING AN ISSUE THAT IT RANDOMLY LOSES ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING AND A WRENCH WARNING WILL THEN SHOW UP AS WELL AS AWD OFF WARNING SIGN, AT THE SAME TIME RPM GAUGE WILL FLUCTUATE. THE CAR WILL GO LIMP AND HESITATE UNTIL IT'S IN A SAFE AREA TO STOP THEN PUT IN PARK AND RESTART, THEN IT WILL DRIVE NORMAL UNTIL THE NEXT THE OCCURRENCE. WHICH YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHEN. THIS HAS HAPPEN 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST WEEK. WE HAVE FOUND THAT IT'S BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN AND A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE THAT IT RANDOMLY BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE WHILE ON THE ROAD. FORD DEALER STATE'S THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG AND THAT THEIRS NO CODES ON THE VEHICLE. SINCE MY FAMILIES LIVES ARE AT RISK, WITHOUT ANY ATTEMPT TO REPAIR I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH MYSELF. IT'S SEEMS MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT THERE'S AN ISSUE AFTER REVIEWING JUST A FEW OF THOUSANDS AMONG THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE THAT I'M HAVING WITH MY 2011 FORD EDGE. THIS ISSUE HAS NOT ONLY BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE IT HAS ALSO BECOME AN INCONVENIENCE TO MY SPOUSE AND FAMILY. I ASK THAT YOU FORD SERVICE TEAM MAKES EVERY ATTEMPT TO NOT PUT ANYONE'S LIFE AT RISK. WITHOUT ANY ATTEMPT THEIR WILL BE NO RELIEF OR REASSURANCE THAT I OR MY FAMILY CAN FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MPH ON FAIRLY LEVEL TERRAIN BUT SOMEWHAT CURVY MY CAR WILL LUNG VIOLENTLY. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I PULLED OVER THINKING I HAD BEEN HIT IN THE BACK OF MY CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. MARSHALL MIZE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNLESS THEY CAN REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR HAS ONGOING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. MY FIRST COMPLAINT WAS 1 MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 57 MPH ON A DECLINE IF I EVERY SO SLIGHTLY TOUCH MY BRAKE PAD MY CAR WILL "SLAM" INTO A LOWER GEAR. I HAVE HAD TO BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP TO GET IT TO GO BACK INTO NORMAL SHIFT MODE. ACTUALLY HAD A FORD ENGINEER RIDE WITH ME AND TELL ME THAT WAS "NORMAL". WHEN I PRESSED HIM "IT'S NORMAL TO HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO GET MY CAR BACK INTO NORMAL SHIFT MODE" HE JUST SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO FOR ME. I ACTUALLY HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE EMERGENCY LANE ONE MORNING BECAUSE ME CAR DID THIS AND A TRANSFER TRUCK ALSO MOST REARENDED ME. *TR
ON MARCH 9, 2013 WHILE DRIVING 40 MILES PER HOUR, THE VEHICLE JERKED AS IF I HAD HIT OR BEEN HIT BY SOMETHING, PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT, GOT OUT LOOKED UNDER MY VEHICLE WALKED AROUND AND DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING, MY MOTOR DIDN'T COME OUT, DIDN'T GET HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, NO BLOWOUT TIRES, GOT BACK IN MY VEHICLE AND DROVE HOME WITH NO OTHER ISSUES (WOW). THEN ON MARCH 31, 2013 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM AN OUT OF TOWN TRIP, ALMOST HOME, ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING 75 MILES PER HOUR THE VEHICLE JERKED AGAIN LIKE IT DID THAT DAY ON MARCH 9, MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH HIS EYES CLOSED AND SAT STRAIGHT UP AND ASKED ME IF WE HAD BEEN HIT. EXPLAINED TO HIM THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO ME A FEW WEEKS AGO. TOOK IT BACK IN AND OF COURSE THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE SO A RECORDER WAS INSTALLED. ON MAY 24, 2013 THIS HAPPENED AGAIN I PUSHED THE BUTTON ON THE RECORD AND NOW MY EDGE IS BACK IN THE SHOP. I HAVE BEEN READING BLOGS ON FORD FORUM, APPARENTLY THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING SINCE 2007. IF MY VEHICLE DECIDES TO STALL WHILE THIS IS OCCURRING I'M IN DEEP TROUBLE I'LL BE REAR ENDED AND FORD MOTOR WILL HAVE A LAW SUIT ON THEIR HANDS. GLAD IT DIDN'T STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I MAY NOT BE HERE TODAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE CAR REPEATEDLY HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES WHEN SLOWING THEN ACCELERATING FROM AROUND 20 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION/POWER STOPS MOMENTARILY THEN IT SHIFTS WITH A VERY HARD JERKING SENSATION AND A LOUD THUD. I FEEL THIS ISSUE WILL EVENTUALLY PUT ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CERTIFIED PRE OWNED 2011 FORD EDGE AND 3000 MILES INTO OWNING IT THE DRIVE TRAIN HAS REPEATEDLY SLIPPED AND WHEN IT ENGAGES IT SLAMS. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT ANY TIME MOSTLY FROM AFTER STOPPING AND SOMETIMES AS THE CAR IS JUST DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. I`M TAKING IT IN FOR THIS SOON BUT FROM THESE OTHER POSTINGS I DON`T FEEL SO GOOD ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT. *TR
I OWN A 2011 FORD EDGE WITH 39,000 MILES ON IT. THREE DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON A RELATIVELY BUSY ROAD GOING 65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY EDGE SEEMED LIKE IT LOST ALL POWER TO IT. THE "SEE MANUAL" WITH A WRENCH SCREEN CAME UP ON MY DASHBOARD, AS MY CAR SLOWLY BEGAN TO STOP. UPON STOPPING IT BEGAN TO SHAKE AND RUMBLE VIOLENTLY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND BACK INTO DRIVE TO START DRIVING AGAIN. WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. THE RPM'S WOULD NOT EVEN MOVE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON IT ROLLED OVER A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE IT ACTUALLY STARTED. THEN IT ACTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. THEN TODAY (01/28/2013) I WAS TURNING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WASN'T EVEN GOING 20 MPH THIS TIME. I HAD TO COAST ONTO THE TURNING LATE OF THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AFTER TRYING TO AVOID BEING HIT BY A COUPLE SEMI'S. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE WHERE THEY TESTED IT, NOTHING SEEMED TO BE WRONG WITH IT. THEY EVEN CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD. ON THE WAY HOME, 20 MINUTES LATER IT HAPPENED ON THE SAME BUSY HIGHWAY. ONCE AGAIN, I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A COUPLE ACCIDENTS. I HAVE TRIED LOOKING EVERYWHERE TO SEE WHERE THERE IS A SOLUTION BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ONE. I FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, AND I ACTUALLY AM CONSIDERING TRADING IT IN. IT'S A DEATH TRAP, AND IT'S SAD TO SAY BECAUSE I LOVED MY EDGE SO MUCH. IF ANYONE HAS THE SOLUTION TO WHAT IS GOING ON, PLEASE TELL ME. I'M TIRED OF GETTING NO ANSWER. *TR
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, ENGINE SHUTDOWN AND VEHICLE HAD IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER. NO VISIBLE ALERT FOR SURROUNDING TRAFFIC TO AVOID COLLISION. ENGINE DID NOT TURN OFF, BUT ACCELERATION WAS NOT POSSIBLE. I TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, RESTARTED, AND WAS ABLE TO PROCEED AT NORMAL SPEED ONTO THE INTERSTATE BEFORE IT OCCURRED AGAIN. DEALERSHIP THOUGHT THEY HAD IT FIXED ON MONDAY. THEY SAID IT WAS A COMPUTER COMMUNICATION ISSUE AND THEY RESET IT. THEIR TEST DRIVER HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE SHOP. NEXT DAY, THEY REPEATED YESTERDAY'S FIX, TOLD ME TO PICK IT UP. I HAD A FRIEND DRIVE IT, WHILE I FOLLOWED. WE MADE IT 5 MILES BEFORE IT SHUT DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I USED MY TRUCK TO BLOCK TRAFFIC SO WE COULD MAKE IT TO THE MEDIAN. DEALERSHIP HAD IT TOWED BACK. ONE WEEK LATER, THE DEALER SAYS IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT ARE NOT CONFIDENT IT IS SAFE TO RELEASE, AND ARE NOT POSITIVE THAT'S THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ MANY BLOGS ON FORD'S COMPUTER OR FUEL RELATED ISSUES THAT APPEAR SIMILAR, YET WITH SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. MY CONCERN IS SAFETY. I AM LOOKING FOR A SAFE VEHICLE I CAN TRADE WITH CONFIDENCE THAT IT WILL NOT CAUSE THE NEXT OWNER TO CRASH. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
AFTER BUYING MY 2011 FORD EDGE FROM CARMAX AND DRIVING IT FOR 35 DAYS, MY CAR STARTED TO HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. IT WAS CLANKING, SLOW ACCELERATING, VIBRATING, WHEN YOU WOULD STOP IT WOULDN'T PROCEED WHEN GAS APPLIED UNTIL IT WOULD LOUDLY THUMP AND LURCH FORWARD. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT NEEDED THE PART (AT4Z7251A). THE PROBLEM IS THERE ARE ONLY 2 (AT4Z7251A) IN THE WHOLE UNITED STATES! THOSE ARE ON HOLD FOR CUSTOMERS OR THEY APPEAR IN INVENTORY ON COMPUTER BUT THEY ARE NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THIS PART HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER FOR A VERY VERY VERY LONG TIME .I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I AM THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM SINCE THIS PART IS USED FOR AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT TYPE FORD CARS. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR A MONTH WAITING FOR THE PART. AFTER READING OTHER OWNER PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO MINE THERE NEEDS TO BE SOMETHING DONE BY THE FORD CORPORATION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE TO WAIT FOR A PART WITH NO ETA . *TR
