2001 ESCAPE STALLS REPEATEDLY WHEN STARTING AND WHEN IDLING AT STOP LIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT SO FORD DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX. USUALLY ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT. HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET. THIS IS A 4 CYLINDER MANUAL TRANSMISSION SO IT DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL.*AK
VEHICLE STALES DURING DECELARTION
FORD ESCAPE 2001, EGR SENSOR FAILURE. *BF THE CONSUMER WANTED TO KNOW IF THE SERVICE BULLETIN APPLIED TO HIM, BECAUSE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MEXICO, BUT T WAS MANUFACTURED IN KANSAS CITY MO. *JB
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO IDLE. THE BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL FELT SLUGGISH. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE MECHANIC CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. RECALL CAMPAIGN 04V165000 REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED IN MAY FOR THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING. *AK *SC
FORD FAILURE TO PERFORM RECALL #04V-165 FORD #04S13 ON MY 01 ESCAPE. CONTACTED FORD, PROVIDED VIN, FORD CLAIMED NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER MT 01 ESCAPE WAS PRODUCED IN 10/2000 WHICH WAS DURING THE RECALL PERIOD. HAS NEVER BEEN DONE. VEHICLE NOW STALLS AND HARD STARTS (LONG CRANKS) SOMETIMES TAKES 2 OR 3 TRIES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS MENTIONED IN RECALL 04V165000. CONTACTED THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS (3) ALL FAILED ON MY VEHICLE. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND 3 WEEKS LATER THE PARTS ARIVED OR WERE REMANUFACTURED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT DOWN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK VEHICLE ACCELERATING BY ITSELF. *TC
RECALL 04V165000 CONCERNING ENGINE STALLING. CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEM WITH ENGINE STALLING UNTIL RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE ON APRIL 24, 2004. DEALER WAS CONTACTED.*AK
WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, BUT DEALERSHIP DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE STALLS WHILE GOING DOWNHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES AN HOUR WITH FOOT OFF GAS. THIS IS THE THIRD OR FORTH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. BECAUSE OF THE STALLING CONDITION, USE OF BRAKE AND STEERING IS DIFFICULT.*AK
PETITION FOR ADEQUACY OF A RECALL REMEDY INVOLVING FORD SAFETY RECALL 04S13 RE A PROBLEM WITH STALLING IN THE 2001 FORD ESCAPE. *MR THE STALLING CONTINUED. *SC *JB
I HAVE A 2001 FORD ESCAPE. I WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE STALLING RECALL; SO I HAD IT SERVICED (REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER). AFTER IT WAS WORKED ON, ABOUT ONE WEEK LATER IT BEGAN TO STALL WHEN STARTING. IT WOULDN'T IDLE. NOW IT JUST DIES WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED TO US ABOUT 30 TIMES TODAY. I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER HOPING THAT WAS IT; IT DIDN'T HELP. IT ONLY HAS 39,000 MILES ON IT. THE THING IS, I DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT UNTIL WE TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL. *JB
THE RADIATOR FILL BOTTLE LOCATED TO THE RIGHT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, HAS A SENSOR THAT DETECTED WHEN THE LEVEL IS LOW IN IT. THERE IS A LIGHT THAT COMES ON ,WHEN IT IS LOW ACTIVATED IN THE DASH NEXT TO THE TACHOMETER. IT HAS TURNED ON FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND WILL NOT TURN OFF, EVEN WHEN THE REFILL BOTTLE IS FILLED. THE DEALER SAYS YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE BOTTLE AND IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE ESCAPES. HE SUGGESTED I BUY A REPLACEMENT BOTTLE AT A COST OF ABOUT $62.00. THIS UNIT SHOULD NOT GO OUT AFTER ONLY ABOUT 50,000 MILES AND MISLEAD YOU TO THINK YOU ARE OUT OF FLUID. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THE BOTTLE TO HAVE THE DEALER FIX IT AT NO COST, SINCE IT HAS OCCURRED AT VIC BAILEY FORD A LOT OF TIMES ON THE NEW ESCAPES. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
ENGINE STALLS AT 40 MPH.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH OIL LIGHT AND THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD, THEN, VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
FORD ESCAPE 2001.. VEHICLE STALLED SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. NO WARNING.. FORD TELLS ME THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WITH FORD WINDSTAR, ESCAPES,TRIBUTE.. FORD WILL NOT COVER REPAIRS AFTER 36000 MILES, EVEN WITH THE BEST EXTENDED WARRANTY FORD HAS TO OFFER.*JB

ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. A FOUL SMELL SEEPED THROUGH THE VENTILATION. AS A RESULT CONSUMER VOMITED, AND FELT LIGHT HEADED. *AK
CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING FOUR TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. *PH THE VEHICLE WOULD START BACK UP, BUT WAS DANGEROUS. FORD REPLACED A COUPLE PARTS THAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT IT DIDN'T. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN BUT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *SC *JB
2001 FORD ESCAPE STALLED AT ABOUT 30 MPH. CAR RESTARTED AND CONTINUED. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THE CAR STALLED. *CB
WHILE DRIVING 2001 FORD ESCAPE AT AVERAGE 50-60 MPH SPEED OK. UPON DECELERATION, CAR DIES. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY (DIED 3 MORE TIMES). DEALER IS SAYING 2 CYLINDER HEADS NEED TO BE REPLACED; 2 CAMSHAFTS AND BASICALLY NEED NEW ENGINE INSTALLED AT MY EXPENSE. DEALER HAS REQUESTED MAINTENANCE RECEIPTS (I HAVE SUPPLIED ALL). NOW WAITING TO SEE IF FORD WILL ASSIST IN REPAIRS. HAVE CALLED FORD 6 TIMES TO FILE COMPLAINT STATING SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE NEW IN DEC 2000, HAVE HAD NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALLED (WARRANTY COVERED); NEW FUEL PUMP (WARRANTY COVERED); AND NEW MASTER CYLINDER (PAID OUT OF POCKET). ESCAPE IS NOT SAFE AND NOT RELIABLE.*AK
