WHEN I SLOW DOWN OR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL & THEN IT FEELS LIKE I AM IN NEUTRAL. AS SOON AS I PRESS DOWN ON GAS PEDAL THE CAR JERKS FORWARD. WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME THIS PAST SATURDAY NIGHT SAME THING HAPPENED & THE TRACTION LIGHT & ABS LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS INFORMED BY A CO WORKER SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM & IT WAS THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY THAT WAS ON RECALL. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS BY THE DEALER & NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $2,000.00. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND THE SAFETY ISSUE OCCURRED WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN/TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I WAS STOMPING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET AND THE CAR WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN. AFTER RIDING THE BRAKES THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO THE SCALES ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. FORD REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE FOR $235 AND SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE FREE TO FIX. *TR

THIS MORNING DRIVING TO WORK, AGAIN....MY GAS PEDAL STUCK...WAS GOING 50 TO 1 MPH IN A SECOND. I HAVE HAD MY 2008 FORD ESCAPE BACK TO THE DEALER THREE DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2009 AND THEY STATED...THEY COULD NOT "REPLICATE" THE ISSUE. I HAVE JUST LEARNED ON 8/12/14 THERE IS A RECALL ON THE THROTTLE AND I HOPE THEY HONOR THE RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY SCARY SITUATION OVER THE YEARS, WHERE MY LIFE WAS PUT IN DANGER AND ALL I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS THAT THEY CANNOT "REPLICATE" THE ISSUE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN EACH TIME SOON AFTER IT HAPPENED. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXHIBITING ISSUES RELATING TO THE FORD CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 WHERE THE ACCELERATOR "STICKS" OR DOESN'T RESPOND TO MY PRESSURE. REQUIRING MORE PRESSURE THEN USUAL, THE VEHICLE WILL THEN SURGE FORWARD FOR AN INCREDIBLY JOSTLING ACCELERATION. THIS ISSUE WILL HAPPEN NOT ONLY WHEN STOPPED BUT ALSO WHEN IN MOTION. THIS BECOMES PARTICULARLY PROBLEMATIC WHEN TRYING TO MERGE OR TURN INTO MOVING TRAFFIC AS I AM NEVER SURE WHETHER OR NOT MY ACCELERATOR/ THROTTLE BODY WILL RESPOND AS IT SHOULD. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE FOR OVER 2 YEARS, BUT THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT. THE ISSUE BECOMES WORSE IN COLD WEATHER, MAKING IT EVEN MORE DANGEROUS WHEN ROAD CONDITIONS ARE SLIPPERY. I CONTACTED FORD REGARDING THIS ISSUE, CITING THE ABOVE MENTIONED CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM AND THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED. IT SEEMS LUDICROUS THAT MY VEHICLE, WHICH HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HAVING THIS ISSUE, WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM. FORD SHOULD REEVALUATE THE VEHICLES THAT ARE INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM, BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY MORE WIDE-SPREAD THAN THERE PROGRAM HAS IDENTIFIED. I AM INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR NON-RESPONSIVENESS IN HANDLING THIS ISSUE. *TR

DURING COOLER WEATHER THE GAS PEDAL BECOMES "STUCK" AND CAN NOT BE PUSHED. ALMOST AS THOUGH SOMETHING IS PLACED UNDER THE GAS PEDAL. YOU HAVE TO LITERALLY STOMPED ON IT TO GET IT DOWN AND SOMETIMES THAT DOESN'T EVEN WORK. WHEN THIS PROBLEM INITIALLY STARTED HAPPENING, IT WOULD HAPPEN RIGHT AFTER STARTING. I BEGAN TO TELL MY DAUGHTER TO WARM HER CAR AND PRESS THE PEDAL A FEW TIMES BEFORE LEAVING. SHE JUST CALLED ME AND THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING! IT IS 54 DEGREES HERE AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE LAST WINTER. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND FEEL THAT IT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. *TR

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER 2008 FORD ESCAPE AND HER GAS PEDAL STUCK WHILE TRYING TO GET IT IN GEAR TO REVERSE AT LEAST TEN DIFFERENT TIMES.. WHEN THIS OCCURRED IN JANUARY OF 2012 HOWEVER, SHE WAS TURNING ONTO A BUSY STREET WHEN THE GAS PEDAL STUCK WHILE THE SPEED WENT DOWN TO ZERO. LUCKILY SHE WAS NOT REAR ENDED. SHE WAS AWAY AT COLLEGE AND I TOLD HER TO GET IT TO THE FORD DEALER NEAR HER. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STICKING AND REPLACEMENT WAS ADVISED AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY COMPLETED AT A COST OF $486.83. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY LEARNED OF RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE ON SEVERAL ESCAPE MODEL YEARS. I WANT TO KNOW IF I HAVE ANY RECOURSE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR

I WAS DECELERATING TO A RED LIGHT, WHEN MY ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED AND STUCK TO THE FLOOR ON IT'S OWN, I HAD TO SHUT THE IGNITION OFF AND COAST INTO THE GAS STATION TO GET THE VEHICLE TO COME TOO A STOP. I TOOK IT TO ANDY MOHR FORD AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDS A NEW ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, WHICH IS A 600.00 REPAIR. I BOUGHT MY ESCAPE USED SO THERE IS NO WARRANTY NOR COULD I AFFORD THIS REPAIR. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND A RECALL FOR THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, BUT WAS TOLD BY ANDY MOHR, THE RECALL DOESN'T APPLY TO MY SPECIFIC BUILD. I THEN CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE AND OPENED A CLAIM WITH THEM, I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT ( BECAUSE IT'S A MANUFACTURES DEFECT AND A SAFETY ISSUE )AND WAS REFERRED BACK TO ANDY MOHR THIS TIME I SPOKE WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER AND TOLD THE SANE THING, THAT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY,, THE REPAIR ISN'T COVETED AND I'M THEREFORE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIR. THIS CAN'T BE RIGHT OR LEGAL, THIS PROBLEM POSES A SAFETY RISK TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AS WELL AS MY FELLOW DRIVERS I COULD POTENTIALLY HURT OR KILL WHEN THIS ACCELERATOR DECIDES TO DEPRESS AND STICK AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK DOWNWARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, MAINLY DURING COLD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL MY 2008 ESCAPE (NOT HYBRID) 2.3L XLT BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WHERE I WOULD GET A STICKY GAS PEDAL. IT WOULD SOMETIMES TAKE SOME JIGGLING TO GET THE GAS PEDAL TO DEPRESS SO THAT I COULD ACCELERATE. I CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED FOR ABOUT A MONTH. WE RECENTLY HAD SOME COLD WEATHER IN THE 10 - 30 DEGREE RANGE IN WHICH MY GAS PEDAL STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. IT GOT SO BAD TO WHERE I COULD NOT DEPRESS THE GAS PETAL INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WOULD DEPRESS MY CAR WOULD JOLT FORWARD LIKE TOO MUCH GAS WAS APPLIED. THE ISSUE SEEMED TO DISSIPATE IF I LET THE CAR WARM UP FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING. I PURCHASED A NEW THROTTLE BODY FROM COURTESY FORD FOR $278.00 INSTALLATION WAS QUOTED AS $386.00. I OPTED TO HAVE MY BROTHER INSTALL IT FOR ME. IT HAS BEEN 10 DAYS SINCE INSTALLATION AND THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RESOLVED. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES SINCE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY BUT I STILL DO NOT TRUST THE CAR. I HESITATE TO TAKE MY FAMILY IN THE CAR AND AM THINKING ABOUT GETTING RID OF IT FOR SOMETHING ELSE. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY FORD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
