I WAS DRIVING AT 40 MPH AND THE THROTTLE CONTROL/POWERTRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS SOME JERKING, A LOSS OF POWER AND I COASTED TO THE CURVE. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND DROVE MAYBE 2 MILES, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER AGAIN. THIS HAPPEN 4 TIMES AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME. I JUST HAD A COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE ON AUGUST 14, 2013. I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING MAINTENANCE DONE TO PREVENT MY CAR FROM MALFUNCTIONING. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME THE THROTTLE LIGHT HAS COME ON. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND I SEE THAT OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE FORD ESCAPE ARE HAVE THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEMS. PLEASE MAKE FORD MOTORS ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE AFFECTED PART IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS ISSUE HAD HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES SINCE MARCH 12TH 2013. I WAS DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND GOING ABOUT 65 WHEN IT HAPPENED AND IT JUST STALLED. THERE WAS A WRENCH LIGHT THAT CAME ON. I HAD TO SOMEHOW MERGE OVER TWO LANES WHILE NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE (VERY SCARY)! AGAIN THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES FINALLY TODAY WHILE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, WHERE THERE WAS BARELY ANY ROOM TO PULL OVER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP MERGE BACK INTO TRAFFIC, SOMEHOW, AND ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE FREEWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO FIND SOMEWHERE TO PULL OVER AND THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT SOMEWHERE AND WAS ABLE TO GET A FAULT CODE (P2111). THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS! IT WAS NOT ONLY SCARY BUT VERY DANGEROUS. I HOPE THAT IF THERE IS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM THEY MAKE A COMPLAINT. *TR
MY FORD ESCAPE 2009 KEEPS LOSING ACCELERATION ABILITY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ONLY GOING 25 ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER EASILY. WRENCH LIGHT IS ON, I TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART AND ACCELERATION IS FINE. THE NEXT TIME I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AGAIN TURN CAR OFF WAIT TURN CAR ON AND I'M FINE NEXT TIME HEADING HOME FROM WORK ON A VERY BUSY STREET HAPPENED IN THE INTERSECTION HAD TO GET OVER LIMPED INTO A QUICK TRIP TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON WORKS FINE. BUT WHO IS TO SAY THIS WON'T HAPPEN WHEN I AM TRYING TO TURN AGAINST TRAFFIC I WOULD BE IN A SERIOUS WRECK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE MECHANIC COULD NOT GET A CODE OFF THE COMPUTER. THEY ARE STILL TRYING BUT WHEN A WOMEN (MYSELF) MENTIONS THROTTLE BODY THEY TRY TO SAY NO THAT COULDN'T BE IT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO OUR VACATION, MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS SURGING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSES CODE WAS P0012 AND P0022. BOTH VCT SOLENOIDS WERE REPLACED. MY 4 YR OLD CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME. 2ND INCIDENT TOOK PLACE SUNDAY, 09/08/2013. WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH AND MY CAR CUT OFF!!! NO LIGHTS CAME ON UNTIL THE ENGINE STOPPED, AND AT THAT TIME THE OIL & BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO COAST INTO THE MEDIAN. MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP COULD NOT SEE ME UNTIL THIS THURSDAY, 09/12/2013. SO THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AT THIS TIME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY 2 FORD DEALERSHIPS THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FULL THROTTLE BODY. VERY SCARY & VERY, VERY DANGEROUS!!! I AM NOT DRIVING MY CAR. MILEAGE IS 34,791. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I SENT AN EMAIL TO FORD CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS &HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. MY CAR IS 4 YRS OLD & HAS HAD 2 MAJOR INCIDENTS THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR ACCIDENTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE 2009 FORD ESCAPE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO FLUTTER. I WATCHED THE RPMS GO UP AND DOWN. I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO KEEP IT FROM DYING OR TURNING OFF, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. IT KEPT FLUTTERING AND SLOWING DOWN THEN IT TURNED OFF. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING THE ORANGE WRENCH SHAPED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR TURNED BACK ON BUT CONTINUES TO DO THIS. I CANT DRIVE IT 2 MILES WITH OUT IT HAPPENING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IT WAS A PART CALLED THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAID ITS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. AND I WONT HAVE MY VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A MONTH. WOW. NOT .GOOD. RESEARCH DONE SHOWS THOUSANDS OF THE VEHICLES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FROM 2009 TO 2012 MODELS. *TR
THE FORD ESCAPE LOST POWER WHEN WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO LIMP BACK TO HOME. IT WAS REALLY DANGEROUS. DROPPED THE CAR IN A FORD DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD US THE CAR HAS A FAILED TROTTLE BODY. WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REPLACEMENT WILL COST US AROUND $700. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. WHY COULD THIS HAPPEN? *JS
ON THURSDAY 9/19, MY WIFE WAS LEAVING WORK IN OUR 2009 FORD ESCAPE WHEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT LOST ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE AND STALLED ON THE ROAD. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING, SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN FOR A FEW MILES BEFORE THE SAME THING HAPPENED. LUCKILY WE WERE CLOSE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WERE ABLE TO GUIDE IT THERE AFTER ANOTHER COUPLE OF STALLING INCIDENTS. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK OPEN (CODE P2111) AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $500. THE SERVICE ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ESCAPES AND THAT MANY OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS HAVE FAILED BUT THE NEWER PARTS ARE MUCH MORE RELIABLE. I FOUND A PETITION ONLINE WHICH ALERTED ME TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME THROTTLE BODY ISSUES THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING AND WANT TO SUBMIT MY INFORMATION TO INCLUDE. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY GET STUCK OPEN MANY TIMES AND AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING A REPAIR SHOP TO REPLACE IT. *JS
I WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE POWER TRAIN LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALL AND LOSS POWER. I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD TO STOP, PUT THE CAR ON PARKING, TURN IT OFF THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND THEN THE CAR FUNCTION PERFECTLY. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT SAME THING HAPPENS.

WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE MANY TIMES TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHY IT OFTEN WILL HESITATE TO ACCELERATE. RECENTLY IT HAS BEGUN TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AND WITHOUT WARNING AND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. LUCKILY WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. TONIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED THE CAR STALLED AND THE POWER TRAIN THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER THE STALL WE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THEN RESTARTED IT. WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE TO SAFETY BUT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVING SMOOTHLY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY MY FORD ESCAPE BEGAN SHAKING AND FELT AS IF SOMETHING FELL OUT FROM UNDER IT (SPEED AT THIS TIME WAS 55 MPH). I LOST GAS PEDAL RESPONSIVENESS. I COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. IT WAS SPITTING AND SPUTTERING. I SAT THERE A FEW MINUTES, PUT IT IN GEAR, AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. IT WAS AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT BEING APPLIED AT ALL. I CALLED MY HUSBAND WHO SUGGESTED I PUT IT IN PARK, TURN OFF THE SWITCH, AND HE WOULD TELL ME WHEN TO RESTART THE ENGINE. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BUT IT DROVE LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RAN (NOT AT A FORD CO.). NO PROBLEMS WERE DETECTED AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF LATER. I HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS UNTIL 8/20/2013. THE POWERTRAIN WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ON THE WAY TO THE LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES, STOP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, AND RESTART THE ENGINE. I HAD TO DO THIS AT LEAST 35-40 TIMES ENROUTE TO THE SERVICE CENTER WHICH WAS ONLY 3 MILES FROM MY STARTING POINT (SPEED WAS 5 MPH-45 MPH). I GOT TO THE SERVICE CENTER, PARKED THE VEHICLE, AND WALKED IN. SERVICE TECH ASKED IF HE COULD HELP ME. I SAID, "I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR SHAKING AND LOOSING POWER. IT'S LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE POWERTRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. I COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, AND RESTART IT. THEN I CAN GO AGAIN." THE SERVICE TECH SAID, "YOUR VEHICLE IS EITHER A FORD EXPLORER OR A FORD ESCAPE." I SAID, "THAT TELLS ME THIS HAPPENS A LOT. IT'S AN ESCAPE. IS THERE A RECALL ON IT?" HE SAID, "NO." I SAID, "I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE CHECK TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM IS COVERED?" HE CHECKED AND SAID, "YOU HAVE COVERAGE (WARRANTY IS 72/100,000 CPO POWERTRAINCARE WTY W/ROADSIDE) BUT IT DOESN'T COVER THE PROBLEM." *TR
I DROVE AT A CONSTANT SPEED (APPROX 30-35 MPH) AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. RPMS DID WEIRD THINGS, GAS PEDAL DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL IN A DRIFT DOWN SPEED DID NOTHING, PARK DID NOTHING. ENGINE NEVER STOPPED, AC AND RADIO WORKED...JUST COULDN'T ACCELERATE. I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. STARTED IT AGAIN (STARTED RIGHT UP), LIGHT WAS GONE AND VEHICLE RAN FINE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I LOST POWER IN AN INTERSECTION. SCARY BECAUSE MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS WITH ME. *TR
I WILL SUDDENLY LOSE ALL THROTTLE POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT MY SPEED IS WHEN THIS HAPPENS, AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE BUT AT RANDOM TIMES. MY POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WILL BE FINE, BUT I WILL HAVE NO THROTTLE AT ALL. I CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I FEEL NO RESPONSE AND GET NO RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER A COMPUTER CHECK, THE DISPLAYED CODE SHOWED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD AND THE SAME PROBLEM COVERED BY RECALLS, JUST NOT ON MY MODEL YEAR. *JS
ON 8-27-13, I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE TO WORK, TRAVELING 65MPH, WHEN MY VEHICLE MADE A SUDDEN SURGE AND THEN LOST SPEED. THE RPM GAUGE WENT COMPLETELY DOWN AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED DUE TO THE SUDDEN DECREASE IN SPEED AND NOT BEING ABLE TO DO ANYTHING BUT SWERVE INTO THE MEDIAN. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SET FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND WHEN I CRANKED IT UP, IT WAS FINE. I AM NOW TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS WAS PROBABLY THE SINGLE SCARIEST THING I HAVE EVER BEEN THRU. *TR
ON AUG 14, 2013, I WAS HEADED HOME FROM WORK DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON FLAT LAND, WHEN I LOST ACCELERATION POWER, I PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT PLACED IT IN PARK WHERE IT RAN VERY ROUGH, THE WRENCH INDICATOR APPEARED, THEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND CRANKED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES LATER IN MY TRIP THE SAME SITUATION HAPPENED, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 50 MPH AND A SLIGHT INCLINE. APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES LATER IN MY TRIP, WHILE AT A SLIGHT DECLINE, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I THEN TOOK MY ESCAPE TO THE SHOP. THEY HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS DRIVING IT ABOUT 25 MILES AND THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I PICKED UP MY ESCAPE FRIDAY AUGUST 16, 2013, NIGHT (AFTER THE SHOP CLOSED) DIDN'T MAKE IT 3 MILES FROM THE SHOP, WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MPH, I LOST ACCELERATION POWER, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, I PULLED OVER PUT IT IN PARK AND AGAIN VERY ROUGH IDLE, TURNED IT OFF WAITED A FEW SECONDS, CRANKED IT BACK UP AND IT DROVE FINE WITH NO ISSUE UNTIL THIS MORNING AUGUST 23, 2013, WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A SLIGHT INCLINE IN TRAFFIC, I LOST ACCELERATION POWER, THE WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED, I PULLED INTO THE CENTER GORE PUT IT IN PARK - WHILE IN PARK IT RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH, SPUTTERING AND SPITTING, TURNED IT OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND CRANKED IT UP AND CAME ON INTO WORK WITH NO ISSUES. *TR

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, WHEN CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED. COULD NOT ACCELERATE. COASTED TO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY. ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AGAIN AND A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. CALLED TOW TRUCK AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALER. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED AS FAILURE OF THROTTLE BODY. HAD TO HAVE REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH SYMBOL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED OFF ROAD AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,000.
ON AUGUST 16 I WAS DRIVING INTO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY FORD ESCAPE LOST GAS PEDAL RESPONSIVENESS AND THE POWER TRAIN WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOPPED. RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. TOOK IT INTO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. OVER THE NEXT WEEK THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED 5 MORE TIMES IN RANDOM PLACES WHILE DRIVING. EACH OF THESE TIMES IT WOULD MAKE A SUDDEN SHAKE AND THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, GAS PEDAL WON'T WORK TILL I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE IT BACK TO MY MECHANIC TILL THE END OF THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND WAS HOPING I COULD SURVIVE TILL THEN BUT ON AUGUST 27 WHILE I WAS TURNING LEFT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE PERSON BEHIND ME REAR ENDED ME CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THEIR CAR AND MINOR DAMAGE TO MINE. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION BY SLOWLY INCHING ACROSS IT WITH EVERYONE HONKING AT ME. THAT WAS THE FINAL STRAW. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FIGURED OUT THAT THIS WAS ACTUALLY A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH AN OPEN INVESTIGATION (PE13003) AND MULTIPLE KNOWN COMPLAINTS. MY MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT MY RESEARCH WAS RIGHT WHEN HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND GOT ERROR CODE P2112. HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY FOR $650. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
STARTED TO DRIVE CAR AND ENGINE QUIT, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WHEN IT WAS REPLACED ALMOST EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO. *TR
DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. CAR THEN RAPIDLY DECELERATED AND I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 7:45 AM ON MONDAY, JULY 8TH, 2013, I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 FORD ESCAPE TO WORK. I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT THE CORNER OF EAST 30TH STREET AND NORTH SHADELAND AVENUE. ONCE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN FROM EAST 30TH STREET TO TURN LEFT (SOUTHBOUND) ON NORTH SHADELAND AVENUE WHEN THE VEHICLE (2009 FORD ESCAPE) STALLED AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I TRIED TO START THE CAR BACK UP...THE VEHICLE STARTED BUT WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT ENGAGE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE SO I HAD TO COAST TO THE NEAREST SHOULDER FOR SAFETY. I CALLED A FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME THE REPAIRS REQUIRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS: 1) THROTTLE BODY, 2) REPROGRAMMING THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SYSTEM AFTER THE THROTTLE BODY IS REPAIRED, 3) FUEL INJECTORS AS WELL AS 4) AIR FILTER...THE DEALER'S TOTAL COST FOR THE REPAIRS WAS QUOTED TO ME AS $620.00!!! WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF THE FORD ESCAPE HAVING WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE HELP ME RECOUP THE MAJOR COST OF THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIRS AS I FEEL FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD REPAIR AT NO COST BECAUSE THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED BY FORD. *TR
CAR WAS FINE, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAD NOTHING. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 25 AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ENGINE WAS RUNNING FINE BUT CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. WRENCH ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS LIT, INDICATING A POWERTRAIN PROBLEM. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I'M SURE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AFTER READING THE POSTED COMPLAINTS, LEFT TURNS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP. *TR
ON OCTOBER 24, 2009, THE RPM NEEDLE WOULD STICK AT THE 2000 LEVEL. HESITATION OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING MARCH 2, 2010, THE THROTTLE BINDED ON ACCELERATION. ON JULY19, 2011, POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPROGRAMMED DUE TO RECALL.ON FEBRUARY 12, 2011, ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING, RESTARTED ENGINE, AND WOULD DRIVE, AND PROBLEM WOULD REPEAT. THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACED.ON DECEMBER 3 ,2012, ENGINE LIGHT WOULD APPEAR AND DTC CODES WERE CLEARED, WIGGLE TEST AND WIRING DIAGNOSIS PERFORMED. ON MARCH 16TH,2013, CAR POWERED DOWN TO SLOW CRAWL AND ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. TRANSMISSION AXLE LEAK REPAIRED. ON APRIL 5TH, THROTTLE /POWERTRAIN LIGHT APPEARED AND CAR SLOWED DOWN TO A SLOW CRAWL. RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN DRIVING THIS CAR. *TR
