MY VEHICLE WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE. I SPOKE TO FORD AND THE SAID THIS HAS A RECALL CALLED THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BRUSH. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS VIN NUMBER ASSIGNED. I'M HAVING THE VERY PROBLEM ASSOCIATE WITH THE RECALL BUT THEY WANT FIX IT.
AS I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED MY CAR JERKING GOING IN TO FIRST GEAR. I FIGURED BECAUSE I WAS ON A HILL THAT WAS THE REASON. LATER THAT DAY AS I WAS TRYING TO RUN ERRAND AS I GOT IN THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 60 MPH AND WAS AT VERY HIGH RPMS TO MAINTAIN THIS SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO INTO 6TH GEAR. I PULLED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO MAKE MY HOME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. AS I MADE IT TO A RED LIGHT THE CAR JERKED AGAIN WHEN I STOPPED. AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE I MADE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD ONLY REV AS IF IT WAS IN NUETRAL. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON IT RAN WELL ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE IT HOME AND I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I'M AT 63K MILES AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAD ABOUT 50K MILES ON IT. I DRIVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST. THIS DEFECT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BEING STUCK IN AN INTERSECTION LIKE THAT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED SEEING THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE SPEAKING WITH MECHANICS HERE AND THE DEALERSHIP WHO ALL HAVE A NUMBER OF THIS SAME VEHICLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.
HAVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM. MY SON WAS PULLING ONTO A MAJOR ROAD FROM A GAS STATION. HE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD THE TRANSMISSION FAILED NO WARNING. THEN IT JERKED AND HE HAD TO GIVE IT HIGH RPM FOR IT TO CRAWL. HE ALMOST GOT T BONED BY A BIG TRUCK.VERY UNSAFE SITUATION. BROUGHT CAR TO FORD SERVICE TECH SAID HE WOULD CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID AS I COULD NOT NO DIP STICK CAR HAD ONLY 127,000 MILES ON IT.SERVICE ADVISOR GOT BACK TO ME HE SAID YOU NEED NEW TRANSMISSION. $3600-$5000. ASKED TO FILE COMPLAINT WITH FORD HE REFUSED SAID IT'S A WASTE OF TIME FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. HE SAID LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS WAS BETWEEN 100,000-120,000 MILES I POSED THIS QUESTION TO HIM IF HE KNEW LIFE EXPECTANCY OF A CARS TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS 100-000 TO 120,000 MILES WOULD HE BUY CAR HE SAID HE COULD NOT ANSWER THAT. SENT NUMEROUS CORRESPONDENCE TO FORD DID NOT GET 1 RESPONSE FROM ANYONE AT FORD. FINALLY TALKED TO A REAL PERSON AT FORD HEADQUARTERS IN MICHIGAN. FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING IS WHAT I WAS TOLD. I POSED SAME QUESTION AS SERVICE ADVISOR. SAME ANSWER. I CAN'T ANSWER THAT. THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMMENTS ON INTERNET SAME PROBLEMS. FORD DOES NOT SEEM INTERESTED IN DOING THE RIGHT THING WITH A RECALL OR AT LEAST HELP OUT THESE FORD CUSTOMERS. VERY UNSAFE FORD MIGHT BE WAITING TILL SOMEONE DIES FROM THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THERE PLAYING THE ODDS MAYBE? COMMENTS ON INTERNET SOME PEOPLE HAD THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT. THEN TRANSMISSION WENT FOR A SECOND TIME. CAN'T DRIVE CAR THE WAY IT IS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT HAD ASSISTANCE WITH PLACING THE GEAR IN DRIVE AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC RELEASED THE GEAR SHIFTER LEVER IN ORDER TO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE GEAR COULD NOT BE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE OR PARK. THE CONTACT ALSO HAD TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE BATTERY HAD TO BE CHARGED AGAIN DUE TO THE GEAR SHIFTER NOT ENGAGING INTO PARK OR REVERSE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH AN UNKNOWN DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,826.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHEN THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE DROVE IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR SHOWED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE; HOWEVER, THE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN DRIVE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CABLE CONNECTED TO THE TRANSMISSION LEVER TO THE GEARS WAS NOT CONNECTED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TRANSMISSION LEVER WAS MOVED MANUALLY IN ORDER TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN THE CORRECT GEAR AND OPERATE IT CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT CALLED WINNER FORD (591 S DUPONT HWY, DOVER, DE 19901, (302) 877-2489) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN LOCAL ROADS MY ENGINE WAS MAKING S SOUND AS IF A FAN WAS RUNNING ON HIGH SPEED AND I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE LOSING POWER. AFTER ABOUT 2 MILES A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN THAT SAID TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION.

WHILE DRIVING ON SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 2019, MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED HESITATING WHEN CHANGING GEARS. THE LONGER I DROVE, THE MORE IT SHOOK, AND ACCELERATED BUT DID NOT GO INTO GEAR OR MOVE AT ALL. EVENTUALLY IT WENT INTO GEAR AND TOOK OFF. I MANAGED TO REACH MY DESTINATION AND LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE, THE HEADED HOME. THE LONGER I DROVE, ALL OF THE ABOVE HAPPENED AGAIN. I DROVE IT VERY SPARINGLY FOR THE NEXT WEEK UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET THE MONEY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP. TODAY I HAPPENED TO COME ACROSS THIS WEBSITE AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. IS ANYTHING BEING DONE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH AROUND 74K MILES, 3 MONTHS LATER, DURING WINTER, THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL REGULARLY WHILE ACCELERATING, BASICALLY GOING INTO "LIMP MODE" AS FORD DESCRIBES IT, CLAIMING THE VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING....WHILE AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON, THE ISSUE GOES AWAY BUT CHECK ENGINE REMAINS FOR 3 DAYS UNTIL IT CLEARS ITSELF. 3 TRIPS TO FORD SERVICE CENTER, OVER $2500 IN REPAIRS, AND NO RESOLUTION. NOW A FIELD ENGINEER FROM FORD INSTRUCTED THE DEALER HOW TO DIAGNOSE WITH POSSIBLE RESOLUTION, BUT STILL NO CERTAINTY, AND REQUEST VEHICLE FOR 3-4 DAYS OF DIAGNOSES AND NO LOANER VEHICLES, ONLY OUT OF POCKET RENTALS OFFERED @ $30 A DAY. 1ST AND LAST TIME I DRIVE, RENT, LEASE OR PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE. SERVICE WAS DONE AT FAIR PRICE, FRIENDLY SERVICE STAFF, BUT VERY INCONVENIENT. LAST 3 INCIDENTS OCCURED ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND ONCE OF THOSE INCIDENTS ALMOST RESULTED IN A COLLISION, BUT FORD DOESN'T SEEM TOO CONCERNED. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, GOING FROM 70MPH DOWN TO 55-45MPH WITHIN 5 SECONDS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS MODEL VEHICLE UNLESS LIFE ISN'T A PRIORITY. BEING FORMER MILITARY, IT'S SAD MY LIFE IS MORE IN DANGER HERE THAN DURING MY SERVICE. UNACCEPTABLE, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEIR OWN SERVICE CENTER CAN'T EVEN REPAIR IT OR AT LEAST OFFER A LOANER DURING THEIR ATTEMPTS TO DO SO. ISSUE IS VERY INTERMITTENT AND RANDOM, NO REAL PATTERN OR TRIGGER. LAST INCIDENT WAS YESTERDAY, WHICH WOULD BE THE 7TH TIME THIS MONTH.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN APRIL AND I'M ALREADY HEARING LOUD NOISES WHEN I START THE CAR AND GRINDING NOISES WHEN I ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE WAY THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED, CAUSED A LEAK THAT WAS DRIPPING FLUID AND CAUSING SOFTENING OF THE GEARS? HE SAID IS WOULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO OVERHEATING. I AM NOW EXPERIENCING UNEXPECTED ACCELERATIONS WHILE DRIVING AND DIFFICULT BREAKING.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND WITHOUT NO WARNING SIGNS WHEN I WENT TO GO AT A GREEN LIGHT IT JUST DIDN'T WANT TO GO AND WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. HAVE GOTTEN 3 DIFFERENT TECHNICIANS FROM 3 DIFFERENT PLACES AND SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THAT FORD HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FROM AROUND 2010-2016. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE REPAIR COST IS $4000-$6000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MATTER AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
I DON'T HAVE HEAT AND I'M LOOSING COOLANT. I AM FILLING MY COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY.

I START THE CAR AND NOTHING SEAMS WRONG IT IDLES CORRECTLY AND TEMPERATURES STAY GOOD. ONCE I PUT THE CAR ON DRIVE AND GO OVER 10MPH I GET THE FIRST WARNING THAT COOLANT IS LOW. IF I IGNORE THA AND TRY TO GO ABOVE 15 MPH I GET A SECOND WARNING FOR HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE. AFTER THAT THE CAR STALLS AND IT WON'T GO BACK TO NORMAL UNTIL I PARK. TURN OFF THE CAR. RESTART. AND IT WILL STAY NORMAL UNTIL I START DRIVING AGAIN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,355.
THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE STARTED TO THUMP WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AFTER INITIAL START-UPS. THE PROBLEM BEGAN SOMEWHERE AROUND 86000+ MILES. THERE WOULD BE NO SUBSEQUENT PROBLEMS WHEN TAKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF DRIVE (I.E., AFTER BACKING UP OR BEING PLACED INTO PARK) ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING A WHILE (HEATED UP). VEHICLE NOW HAS 87000+ MILES AND ON 11/07/19 I RECEIVED A MESSAGE "TRANSMISSION FAULT. SERVICE NOW." I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED. ON 11/08/19 I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD. LATER IN THE EVENING I TRIED STARTING AND SHIFTING THE ESCAPE INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE WITH THE USUAL THUMP AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SUV FORWARD. THE TORQUE CONVERTED APPEARS TO BE ON ITS WAY OUT. I PLAN TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. I WANT TO REPORT THIS AS I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER WHO OWN SIMILAR VEHICLES (FORD ESCAPES) ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TORQUE CONVERTS AND TRANSMISSIONS.
WHILE DRIVING, MY CAN STALLED OUT, THEN UPON EXITING ONTO A HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TOOK IT IN TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND NOTHING WAS FOUND TO CAUSE MY CAR TO NOT ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND WITHIN 3 WEEKS MY CAR, AGAIN WHILE DRIVING STALLED OUT AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS WAS SCARY BECAUSE I WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. THIS REPAIR IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $1,100 TO FIX. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW FORD IS GOING TO FIX THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE A ISSUE FOR MANY FORD OWNERS AND THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION GOING ON FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

THE TRANSMISSION WILL PERFORM A "HARD" SHIFT IN AND OUT OF GEARS (MAINLY BETWEEN THIRD AND FIFTH GEAR) RANDOMLY. THE PRND INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL FLASH SPORADICALLY WHEN THIS OCCURS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN THE CAR HAS SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL (ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS) WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN REVERSE. IT WILL SLIP IN AND OUT OF GEAR AND THE BACK UP CAMERA WILL FLASH. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL DEALERS AND MECHANICS, AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. I AM BEING TOLD THAT NO DIAGNOSIS CODES APPEAR IN THE ON BOARD COMPUTER. I AM LEFT DRIVING AN UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE CAR WITHOUT ANY HOPE OF A FIX.
MY CAR COOLANT IS LEAKING, HOSES ARE BAD, ENGINE GASKET IS LEAKING OIL AND MY CENTER CONSOLE IS FAULTY. AND BATTERIES ARE DRAINING EVEN BRAND NEW ONES. I SEE THERE IS A RECALL FOR FIRE RISK COOLANT LEAK AND MY CAR QUALIFIES BUT WHEN I PUT MY VIN IT DIES NOT SHOW. PLEASE HELP. WHEN ON AN INCLINE OR AT LOW SPEEDS LIKE COMING STOP A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN, I PUSH THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR REVS UP TO 5 AND 6 BUT BARELY MOVES. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL TAKE OFF AND JUMP INTO GEAR REALLY HARSHLY. AT TIMES IT WILL SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND GO SUPER SLOW WHILE IN TRAFFIC. I FEEL LIKE I MAY GET HIT AT SOME POINT FROM BEHIND. THIS HAPPENS COMING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, IT HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS, IT SLOWS DOWN AT 35/40MPH, IT HAPPENS WHILE TURNING CORNERS. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED IT ON THE HIGHWAY. IT SEEMS ONCE I REACH HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT WORKS PROPERLY. I HAVE A TRANSMISSION FAULT NOTIFICATION ON THE DASHBOARD.
