The car door on the drivers side opened and then refused to shut. It is a safety risk because it is unable to be operated and caused bruises when it swung shut. The dealer confirmed this is an ongoing issue but refused to cover costs to fix it because I am 473 miles out of the 36,000 mileage. No warnings were issued on the car or the ford app. No prior information was provided to me about this issue before it occurred.
The door welds and arm on the driver side door is breaking. Loud creaking, popping noise. Now door is not wanting to shut. We see this is a common problem with this type of vehicle.
I have a failure of the spot welds of the door check arm in my vehicles driver-side door (3-days ago on Monday, 03/18/24). It has broken off. This arm ensures the door safely closes. I sometimes have trouble closing / securing the door. And now the window will not roll down as of yesterday. I have contacted my Ford dealership & Ford customer service and both tell me cannot fix the problem because the do not know how to fix it yet & do not have the parts to fix it. They tell me that this is an "Advance Recall" notice (#23B56) that has not been publicly sent out yet and that I'll have to either pay some else to fix it or wait until the end of the 2nd quarter of 2024. If Ford does not know how to fix it OR have the parts to fix it, how is anyone else going to fix it? This is a safety & liability issue.
The driver side door check arm is broken, affecting the driver side window. It is a know issue with this vehicle make and model, but Ford will not pay to fix it.
Getting AWD OFF, Hill Assist off, advance traction control off, no collision assist. This happened when put spare tire on and stayed after putting original wheel & tire back on. Checked online and it has been happening to a lot of people, please there is a need for a recall My car is only 20000 miles Ford Escape 2020 SE AWD
- The check arm attachment point in the door assembly on the driver's side door. The spot welds holding the attachment to the door have broken. It is available for inspection at request. - It's a safety issue because the door no longer is able to catch itself presenting the possibility of the door being "ripped" from our hand if the wind would catch it potentially causing harm. Also, it's unknown whether the door will eventually be unable to latch presenting an even bigger problem if the door would open while traveling. - The local dealership is fully aware of the issue at hand reassuring me that this is indeed an issue. There is even a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) - SSM 50150 issued displaying the issue at hand. - The "fix" the dealership collision center has told me is a complete door replacement with a cost of $3,000 or more.
* Spot Weld Joints failed on driver side door. The welds have failed. * Cannot open drivers side door due to to spot weld failure. * Dealer has seen the issue and said the only option is a new door. *Dealer has notified Ford Motor Company. I have a 5 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty that I purchased from Ford Motor Company. Ford told the dealer it is not a part failure so not covered under my warranty and the cost should fall back to the customer. *No. I was getting into my car to leave work on 2/15/2024 and when I opened the door I heard the loud popping/cracking sound.
The drivers side door hinge has failed. It has come loose.
GATEWAY MODULE FOR INSPECTIONS DOES NOT READ OR REGISTER WHEN MY CAR NEEDS AN INSPECTION.
2020 Ford Escape door welds went bad. First popping noise and then door wouldn’t close and finally got closed and couldn’t open. Hinges pulled out of door and left holes and then window could not be opened. I have been researching and this has been ongoing problem with Ford. I see where there were lots of recalls for this problem, but I am told my Ford isn’t one for recall. I don’t know why I had to pay $2,620.00 to have door replaced since they already knew about problem. I need help! Driver side door check arm sounds broken. Opened driver side door picking up dinner and it made loud popping cracking sound then felt like it dropped off hinge some so I lifted up quickly to close door. It’s not latching properly. Inable to operate driver side window as I tried to roll window to check mail and it made a sound and stopped about half way so I pushed up and rolled it back up. Afraid to open door in the morning.
The problem appears to be related to defective spot welds at the check arm attachment point on left driver door. The window doesn't go down and the door doesn't shut all the way. Needs to be a recall ASAP before more accidents happen to everyday citizens!
Problem with 2020 Ford escape door hinge. It happened about 1,000 miles after warranty ended. Repair shop took pictures and sent to Ford. Ford said it was out of warranty. Since then window will not go down and door is harder and harder to close and lock. 10/9/23 took to be serviced because check engine light would come on and off intermittently along with other messages. They found multiple codes for lost communication. They reprogrammed them. Ford also recommended to reprogram instrument panel. They told me because of door I may still get messages. I still get message about low windshield washer fluid. This is intermittently too. 1/22/24 took car to be inspected. They are concerned about the door. Got call they are trying to replace a part in door but having problems. Car is still at garage.
Left front door hinge arm broke because of a failed weld. Dealer says it’s not covered and I have to pay for full door replacment.
Had Driver Front door welds broke on the inside of the door about one year ago and now the passenger front door has the same issue
Driver door popping and won’t shut. Welds broke off the hinge
My vehicle is one of the 2020 Ford Escapes with the broken spot welds on the door control arm. I can no longer operate the driver-side window and Ford wants $2500 to replace the door.
The driver side door of my 2020 Ford Escape is making a popping noise as the door opens and closes. I have researched that this may be caused by cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly.
The door hinge on the driver side of my 2020 Ford escape snapped causing damage to my window. The spot welds broke. Even though Ford is aware that this is an ongoing problem with this make and model and I pay for an extended warranty. They refused to cover this and are telling me I have to pay for it out of pocket. This door hinge broke about a month ago and I called Ford and they told me that they would not cover it at all. I even called corporate office for Ford and they told me they would not cover it upon bringing my vehicle to formula Ford in Rutland Vermont to have inspected. They refuse to inspect my car, took it to a body shop to have an estimate provided to me and said that they might be able to have Ford cover it upon getting the estimate and contacting ford They refused to pay for it repair and will not inspect my car . I feel that this is unfair since it’s nothing I did to break this door. It’s just really crappy craftsmanship.
The driver side door arm is broken
Driver's side front door: hinges are not working properly. Initially, the door made three cracking noises when I opened the door on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. I called my Ford dealer (AutonationFord, Scottsdale, AZ) on Wednesday to speak to my Ford Service Advisor Kevin Morgan. He was not at work Wednesday or Thursday but I obtained an appointment for Monday, 12/18/23 at 9:30 AM. On Saturday, 12/16, I rolled the driver's side window down, it took me 5 minutes to get it back up. Of course I had to leave my car on Monday. But my Ford dealer does not offer "loaners" or offer to pay for a rental car. So I borrowed a car from a friend. On Tuesday 12/19, I received a call from Kevin that they could not fix the hinge(s) because they were improperly welded at the factory. Furthermore, they returned my car to my home with instructions to take it to Bell Ford (Phoenix) Body Shop. On Wednesday 12/20, I drove my car to Bell Ford, and they made an appointment for me to drop it off on Wednesday 12/27. They provided me with a loaner car. I thought I would be picking my car up Friday 12/29. I received a call from Will Jones, Mgr. of the Body Shop on Thursday 12/27 that window regulators had been discontinued by Ford but they had found another one and would get it Wednesday, 1/03. So I should get my Ford Escape back on Thursday 1/04, I hope. Now the problem is Ford has not recalled this problem and it's not just my car but other 2020 and 2021 Escapes have the same problem with the driver's side door. I don't know about the window but obviously it "broke" because of the broken hinges. Help! Please get Ford to recall cars with door problems. I should not have to pay for this repair. Thank you for your help!!!! [XXX] (mileage 35,750 but 3 years was up August 2023. To me, this is not a warranty issue.) Cracked broken well spots on front left door (driver door) at the check arm attach attachment points in door assembly. Prevent driver window from opening or closing.
The front driver side door suddenly started making a clicking noise when opening the door. It looks like the front welds on the door arm are broke which is causing the noise. Vehicle only has 36400 miles on it.
