2022 Ford Expedition UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Recently, the rear evaporator core failed, causing a refrigerant leak that disabled the entire A/C system. This left both the front and rear HVAC units inoperable, which not only compromises passenger comfort but also directly impacts safety by reducing the system’s ability to defrost and dehumidify the windshield in hot and humid conditions. After researching this issue, I have confirmed that rear evaporator core failures are being reported by numerous 2021–2023 Expedition owners, many of whom describe identical failures at relatively low mileage. These failures often result in costly repairs ranging from $2,000–$3,500. While Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins (e.g., TSB 22-2089) related to evaporator and sensor issues on Expeditions, there is currently no recall or extended coverage program for rear evaporator core failures. However, the pattern of owner complaints, dealer diagnoses, and additional NHTSA filings shows that this is a known defect affecting a critical vehicle system. Given: •The premature and widespread nature of these failures, •The documented safety concerns raised in NHTSA complaints, and •The high financial burden placed on customers for what appears to be a design defect, I contacted my local dealer who filed a claim with Ford customer support. My claim was immediately denied and they did not offer any financial support. The year of the vehicle was within 3yr/36,000 warranty however current mileage is ~44,000 and exceeded threshold for warranty assistance.

According to Special Service Message (SSM) 51346, Ford has acknowledged that certain 2022-2023 Expedition models may exhibit this issue due to the roof and spoiler components contacting each other. I have a 2022 Ford expedition Platinum that has a window washer hose that has a split causing a water leak on the right-side panel of the vehicle. The labor repair cost is significant, and a mechanic feels it is a defective manufacturing issue. The labor cost to repair by the Ford Dealership is $1,250

My employee was walking to his Ford 2022 Expedition, he had started it remotely, went to open the back of the vehicle, and the glass exploded. We have a video of it happening from a ring camera system.

The sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving. No object impelled the glass. It just spontaneously shattered.

I have a 2022 Ford Expedition that Ford states some of these are under recall for the backup camera but not mine. On 10/28/25, my backup camera went out with a blank blue sometimes black screen. I took it to Marler Ford where they gave me an estimate of $1000 to replace the camera. I received an oil change on the same day. When I got home I noticed from the diagnostics that my camera was loose in its setting and was able to easily remove it. I am assuming this occurred while at the dealership and will address this with them. While I contemplated what to do, I noticed a change 1 week ago when i backed up even though the camera was removed. It showed the back up lines and no longer the blank screen. I placed the camera back in and now it is working but is still loose so I removed it so it doesn’t fall out. I called Ford. My case number is CXH-XXX. In summary, Ford is still not owning up to the recalls that are a major safety issue in these vehicles and need to be held accountable. I am not confident that this issue will not return if the issue is not fixed. It has caused me stress in not allowing me to be as confident in reverse. It has not resulted in a accident at this time. Sunroof explosion with zero impact

On [XXX] the front section of the panoramic moonroof shattered after opening the drivers side passenger door and drivers door, the children were climbing into the backseat and I proceeded to open the drivers door after opening their door and the glass shattered. Thankfully nobody was injured. The car was towed to the Ford dealership and they after inspection found no reason for the malfunction. I have asked them today to reach out to Ford Customer Assistance as the estimated repair is $4,000. It was not reported to police or insurance at this time. There were no warning signs, nothing has fallen on the roof to my knowledge and the vehicle has 19,600 miles. My speakers / sound system made a loud sound and minutes later my speakers were explosively loud. I couldn’t get the noise to stop. It was a static / gunfire at the highest volume. I turned my car in and off and couldn’t get it to turn off. It blew my ear drums out. Ultimately had to pull the amplifier fuse to get it to turn off. We have not had it inspected yet. We are taking it to the dealership tomorrow although I have heard of many issues of other owners having the same speaker problem. The only thing that happened before this incident. I thought it sounded like something fell inside my door or dash. I was in park when that happened and had just gotten into my car. Not five minutes later, the speakers blared. Thank god my kids were not in the car this time but I have an infant and he is in my car daily. I couldn’t focus on driving. I almost crashed my car. I had to pull over on a dangerous road just to get away from the sound

The audio system of my Expedition has twice made max volume level popping sounds in the dash. It sounded as if fireworks were going off in my car. I turned my car off both times. One time it stopped when turning the car off, the other time I turned the car off and opened and closed the doors multiple times as that usually kills the power to the vehicle bit it continued loudly popping. The popping could be heard from outside of the vehicle it was so loud. It did this for about 15 minutes before we finally got it to stop. I have this on video amd would be happy to send it but it will not let me download it.

I had my three young children in the car and was driving a brand new 2022 Ford Expedition when I heard a loud sound and my sunroof completely shattered, causing shards of glass to fall on me and my 3 children, as well as almost causing me to get into an accident due to the shock of the incident.

While I was driving 65mph on the interstate with my three children in car seats in the middle row we heard a loud explosion and the front panel of the panoramic sunroof glass covered the inside of my vehicle, all of myself and my three toddlers. It was a nice sunny day. No trees or cars were around us. Shards of glass were in all of our hair, car seats, stroller and everywhere else in the car.

Loud booming sound followed by loud crackling coming from speakers. Thought I was in an accident and slammed on the brakes. No one was behind me, but if there was, the person may not have been able to stop. Happened yesterday 10/2/2022 at Huber farms in Indiana at slow speed. Also happened on 9/12/2022 when stopped. Went to Bloomington Indiana community ford while it was still crackling. A service department staff came and did something and the crackling finally stopped. They could not diagnose the problem and returned the car to me on 9/15/2022.
