TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE REAR FUEL TANK POURED FUEL ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. I HAVE NOTICED THAT A TAR LIKE SUBSTANCE WAS LEAKING FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK ALONG WITH A CHEMICAL ODOR. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TAR AND ODOR WAS A RESULT OF LEAKING FUEL COMING IN CONTACT WITH THE UNDERCOATING. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST $600. TO REPAIR THE TANK AND THAT THE TANK WAS NO LONGER MADE AND THEY WOULD USE AN AFTER MARKET TANK. THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL THESE TANKS LEAK AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT I NO LONGER USE THIS TANK. MY QUESTION IS, IF ALL THESE TANKS LEAK, WHY WAS THERE NEVER A RECALL? WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE GETS REAR ENDED? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN THE FUEL GAUGE READING. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS AT LEAST 25 GALLONS OF FUEL WHICH HAD LEAKED FROM THE FUEL TANK ONTO THE GROUND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A DUAL FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL LEAKAGE ORIGINATED FROM THE FRONT FUEL TANK. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.

THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE SAME AS LISTED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE RECALL WAS CLOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 207,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL. WHEN THE CONTACT FILLED BOTH FUEL TANKS, THE FUEL TRANSFERRED FROM THE REAR TANK AND OVERFUELED THE FRONT TANK WHICH CAUSED THE LEAK. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 172,000.
1993 FORD F-150 1/2 TON PICKUP WITH DUAL FUEL TANKS. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THE FRONT TANK IS BEING FILLED BY THE REAR TANK AND WILL OVER FILL THE FRONT TANK. WHEN THE FRONT TANK IS SELECTED THE ENGINE RUNS VERY ROUGH BUT WHEN THE REAR TANK IS SELECTED THE ENGINE RUNS NORMAL. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE FRONT TANK FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND EVENTUALLY THE REAR TANK FUEL PUMP AS WELL. I HAVE RECENTLY REPLACED THE IGNITION COIL, SPARK PLUGS, WIRES, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, AND FUEL FILTER. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GASOLINE WAS LEAKING FROM THE GAS GAP. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER A RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A PART INSIDE THE GAS TANK, WHICH CAUSED THE PRESSURE TO INCREASE AND THE GASOLINE TO LEAK FROM THE GAS CAP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE AGAIN BECAUSE IT COULD ONLY BE REPAIRED ONCE UNDER THE RECALL. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 181,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F150. THE CONTACT FILLED THE FUEL TANK TO CAPACITY, BUT WHEN HE REACHED HIS DESTINATION, HE NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. APPROXIMATELY 5-6 GALLONS OF FUEL HAD SPILLED FROM THE VEHICLE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT CIPHERED THE GASOLINE FROM THE FUEL TANK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL SPILLING FROM THE REAR GAS TANK. HE SWITCHED AND FILLED THE FRONT GAS TANK, WHICH ALSO BEGAN LEAKING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE $200 TO REPLACE THE CHECK VALVES. HE INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NEVER PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 175,592.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F150. WHEN THE FRONT AND REAR TANKS WERE FILLED WITH FUEL, GASOLINE WOULD LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ONLY FILLS THE FRONT TANK FOR THE FUEL TO CIRCULATE TO THE REAR TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE CHECK VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 93V125000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000. I OWN A 1993 F150 FORD PICKUP. FUEL FROM ONE TANK TRANSFERS TO THE OTHER AND OVERFLOWS PAST THE FILL CAP. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. NHTSA #00V424000 AND FORD #93S68. THEY TELL ME THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED. *TR
FORD HAD A PRIOR RECALL TO FIX THE GAS TANK SELECTOR VALVE WHICH THEY DID. NOW THE MY TRUCK IS DOING WHAT THE FIX WAS SUPPOSE TO TAKE CARE OF. MY GAS IS RETURNING TO THE WRONG GAS TANK AND COULD CAUSE THE TANK TO OVER FLOW AND CAUSE A FIRE. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT ONCE AND NOW IT WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY TO FIX THIS. *TR

AS OF NOVEMBER 20, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V424000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F150. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, BUT NEVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS OUTDATED AND THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE IS A MALFUNCTIONING CHECK VALVE WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY THAT CAUSES A PORTION OF THE UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO RETURN TO THE SECOND TANK. AS A RESULT, THE CAPACITY OF THE SECOND TANK BECOMES TOO GREAT AND CREATES FUEL SPILLAGE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY PARKED AT HIS HOME. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 150,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL FROM THE RESERVE TANK ENTERED THE MAIN TANK WITHOUT WARNING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL TANK STORAGE ASSEMBLY (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V424000). THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE AS PART OF THE RECALL, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE DEALER REFUSED TO MAKE ANOTHER REPAIR BECAUSE THEY ALREADY REPAIRED THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

(1) FILLED FUEL TANKS WITH GAS (2) FUEL BEGAN PUSHING OUT OF THE REAR FILLER CAP AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING. NOTIFIED BY ANOTHER DRIVER AND PULLED OVER. OPENED THE FUEL DOOR COVER AND SAW GAS SPILLING OUT AROUND THE CAP. TOOK THE CAP OFF AND FUEL BLEW OUT AT ME. MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER HAD GASOLINE ALL OVER US. (3) TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED IT WAS A KNOWN DEFECT AND THE RECALLED PART HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH REDESIGNED FUEL PUMP IN 2001. NEW REDESIGN IS NOW DOING THE SAME THING. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE MAY 3, 2007, WAS TOLD INITIALLY BY 'SUE' THAT FORD WOULD PARTICIPATE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THEN A SUPERVISOR, ID# 1157 (SHIRA) THAT IT WAS ALREADY FIXED 28 DEC 01 AND THEY WON'T FIX IT AGAIN ALTHOUGH IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S FUEL INTAKE. EVERY TIME FUEL WAS INJECTED INTO THE VEHICLE THE FILLER CAP WOULD OVERFLOW. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS OF A RECALL. THE CAPACITY OF THE RECEIVING TANK EXCEEDED INTAKE AND CAUSED AN OVERFLOW FROM FILLER CAP. THE FUEL SEEPING COULD RESULT IN FIRE. HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THEREFORE ANY SERVICE WOULD INCUR A CHARGE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS MOTIONED TO PULL OVER BY ANOTHER MOTORIST, AND WHEN THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND EXAMINED BOTH TANKS, THE FRONT TANK WAS OVERFLOWING GASOLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL REGULATOR. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL # 93V125000. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
1. ONE MORNING I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START ON THE FRONT TANK SO I BEGAN TO USE THE REAR TANK ONLY. 2. VERY SOON THEREAFTER, GASOLINE BEGAN POURING OUT OF THE FRONT TANK FILLER CAP. IT'S TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, WHATEVER GAS GETS PUT INTO THE REAR TANK IS PUMPED INTO THE FRONT TANK WHILE BEING DRIVEN AND GAS SPILLS OUT OF CAP GOING DOWN THE ROAD. 3. NOTHING HAS BEEN CORRECTED YET, I'M TRYING TO GET LOCAL FORD DEALER TO FIX IT BUT THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY VIN. *JB
I HAVE FOUND A PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE WHICH IS, ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 93V125000, RECALLED FOR A SAFETY PURPOSE. A MALFUNCTIONING CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY CAUSES FUEL TO RETURN TO THE SECOND TANK AND OVERFLOW. THERE IS A GREAT CHANCE FOR A FIRE BECAUSE OF THE FUEL OVERAGE. HOWEVER, FORD DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, BASED SOLELY ON MY VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. *JB
