A FUEL SYSTEM PARTS FAILURE RESULTED IN THE TRANSFER OF GASOLINE FROM ONE TANK TO THE OTHER. I BECAME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WHEN I SAW FUEL RUNNING ONTO THE PAVEMENT UNDER THE VEHICLE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # 93V125000 CONCERNING THE FUEL SYSTEM. THIS WAS COMPLETED ACCORDINGLY AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CHECK VALVE WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY CAUSES UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO RECIRCULATE TO THE SECONDARY TANK WHICH RESULTS IN FUEL SPILLAGE FROM THE FILLER NECK. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
THE FRONT GAS TANK ON MY DUAL TANK 93 F150 STARTED LEAKING. I FOUND THAT THERE IS A PLASTIC COVER ON THE FRONT OF THE TANK THAT COLLECTS DIRT AND DEBRIS. THE COLLECTION OF THIS DIRT AND DEBRIS BETWEEN THE PLASTIC COVER AND TANK CAUSED THE TANK TO RUST IN THE LOCATION. A LEAK DEVELOPED. GAS LEAKING ON THE GROUND IS NOT A GOOD THING. MY REMEDY SO FAR HAS BEEN TO NOT USE THE FRONT TANK. THE TANK IS STILL ON THE TRUCK AND NOW HAS THE PLASTIC COVER REMOVED. I REMOVED IT TO FIND WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM SINCE THE TANKS ARE EASILY AVAILABLE ON E-BAY ALL THE TIME. *JB
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING THE FUEL TANK SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM WITH A BAD PART THAT KEEPS THE FUEL TANKS FROM PUMPING FROM ONE TANK TO ANOTHER. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO EL CAJON FORD IN EL CAJON CALIFORNIA, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT IF I HAD NO PROBLEM HE WAS NOT GOING TO FIX IT. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 125,000 MILE ON IT. I WAS THEN IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING TO OREGON. AT ABOUT 151,000 THE VEHICLE STARTED PUMPING FUEL FROM THE REAR TANK TO THE FRONT TANK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FLORENCE FORD IN FLORENCE OREGON AND THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRENTY. I CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURE AND THEY SAID TO BAD. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN MY SITUATION AND AGAIN THEY SAID TO BAD. I THEN SAID I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID I HAVE NO REASON TO COMPLAIN AND HUNG UP THE PHONE. HAD EL CAJON FORD FIXED THE PROBLEM I WOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM NOW. I AM GLAD FOR THE RECALL NOTICE HAD I NOT BEEN NOTIFED MY TRUCK PROABLY WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE BY NOW. AS FOR MY SUPPORT FOR FORD I AM LOOSING FAITH. I HAVE MOST RECENTLY BOUGHT A FORD RANGER I USED IT MOSTLY TO VISIT MY DYING FATHER, DRIVING FROM SAN DIEGO TO OREGON, AND THEN MOVING TO OREGON. MY VEHICLE WAS JUST OUT OF WARRENTY WHEN I HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND THEN SOME MILES LATER REPLACE THE WATER PUMP. I HAVE LOST MY FAITH IN FORD. I BEING THIRD GENERATION FORD COMSUMER HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. ON THE OTHER HAND MY DAUGHTER HAS A 95 TOYOTA, 200,000 ON IT AND HAS HAD ON REAL PROBLEM. OR A LIFE THREATING PROBLEM. 1993 FORD F-150 2WD PICKUP WITH DUAL TANKS. ONE TANK OVERFLOWED PRESSURIZED GAS ON 19 JUNE 2005. NOTICED RECALL 01M05. THIS VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL, BUT 12 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. THE CAR IS 13 DAYS OUT OF THE RECALL TIMEFRAME, AND FORD WILL NOT COVER THIS RECALL. THEY WON'T EVEN CONSIDER A PARTIAL GOOD WILL ADJUSTMENT.
DT: CONSUMER STATES: THE FUEL SELECTOR PUMP SENDS FUEL FROM FRONT TO BACK, CHECK VALUE IS SUPPOSE TO STOP IT. OPENED BACK CAP AND IT POURED OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. DEALERSHIP 12 YEAR WARRANTY WILL NOT FIX PROBLEM.*AK
BOTH FRONT AND REAR FUEL TANKS RECENTLY STARTED LEAKING ON MY 1993 FORD F150 PICKUP AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL FROM FORD FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR AND MECHANISM FOR TRANSFER OF FUEL FROM THE TANKS.AT THE TIME I TOOK MY PICKUP TO 5 STAR FORD FOR THE RECALL THEY TOLD ME BOTH FUEL TANKS WERE LEAKING AT THE SEAMS OF BOTH TANKS. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THE RECALL WAS FOR A DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE TRANSFER OF FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO ANOTHER AND CAUSE LEAKAGE AT THE FILLER NECK OF THE TANKS. I BELIEVE THE TANKS ARE LEAKING AT THE SEAMS EITHER BECAUSE OF OVER PRESSURE FROM THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR CAUSING EXCESS PRESSURE IN THE TANKS OR A DEFECTIVE JOINING OF THE TANKS AT THEIR SEAMS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE FIRE AND PROPERTY AND BODY INJURY. I HAVE REQUESTED FORD TO EITHER REPAIR THE FUEL TANKS OR REPLACE THEM BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED. I THINK THERE IS A SERIOUS RISK OF FIRE. I CANNOT AFFORD THE $700 5 STAR FORD WANTED TO PUT TWO NEW FUEL TANKS ON MY PICKUP. PLEASE HELP!*AK
THE REAR FUEL TANK WAS SENDING FUEL INTO THE FRONT TANK. AS A RESULT THE FRONT FUEL TANK OVER FLOWED. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL CATCH FIRE. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING FUEL LEAKED OUT OF THE FUEL TANK ONTO THE GROUND. *AK
CONSUMER SMELLED GAS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. MADE CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, WHO TOLD CONSUMER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN RECALL, AND TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HOWEVER, DEALER REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE, STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOO OLD AND HAD TO MANY MILES, EVEN THOUGH FUEL WAS SPURTING FROM THE GAS TANK. *AK
TRIED TO HAVE A VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR A SAFETY ISSUE. FORD SAID THAT IT WASN'T COVERED ANYMORE ALTHOUGH THE ORIGINAL RECALL DOCUMNET SAID FORD WAS TO FIX THE SITUATION REGARDLESS OF AGE, MILEAGE, OR OWNERSHIP FROM THE DATE JULY 14TH 1993 ON. THERE WAS AN INCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE RECENTLY THAT IF THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A HEAT SOURCE IN THE AREA, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN EXPLOSION. REF RECALL 93V-125 FORD 1990-1993 F-150. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PART OF RECALL 93V125000 TO REPLACE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE REAR FUEL TANK IS USED, IT STILL PUMPS FUEL INTO THE FRONT FUEL TAKE. WHEN THE FRONT TANK FILLS UP, FUEL FLOWS OUT OF THE FILL TUBE, DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK BED AND ONTO THE FRAME AND TIRES. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD! *NLM
THE REAR FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT INDICATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *NLM RECALL #93V125000. THE CONSUMER STATED HIS FAMILY CAN SMELL THE GAS. FORD WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. *SCC

REAR FUEL TANK BEGAN LEAKING, SPARE TIRE IS INSTALLED UNDER REAR FUEL TANK. PRESSURE FROM SUPPORTING TIRE CAUSED FUEL TANK STRAP TO RUB THROUGH FUEL TANK.
FUEL TANK LEAKED DUE TO RUST. TRUCK WAS DIAGNOSED BY A DEALERSHIP. *AK *NLM
NHTSA RECALL 01I008000 FUEL OVER-FLOW; AFTER ONE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED RECALL THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE OR MOVE WHEN TRUCK MOVES. A WEEK LATER, THE TANKS BEGAN OVERFLOWING AGAIN. THE FRONT TANK ALSO DEVELOPED LEAKAGE PRIOR TO THE REAR TANK LEAKING FIRST. THE OWNER THEN CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL CHARGE HIM TO REPLACE THE TANKS BUT NOT THE FUEL PUMP. THE TRUCK IS AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP STILL WAITING TO BE SERVICED. NLM
DRIVER NOTICED A PUDDLE OF GAS ON GROUND RIGHT BELOW GAS CAP. GAS WAS LEAKING FROM REAR TANK. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
93 V 125 000/FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY: PORTION OF UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK TO BE RETURNED TO SECOND TANK. WHEN THIS OCCURS, SECOND TANK EXCEEDED, CAUSING FUEL SPILLAGES. FUEL PUMP AND TANK WERE REPLACED. FUEL STILL WOULD GO INTO OTHER TANK AND SPEW OUT OF GAS FILLER PIPE. OWNER WAS TOLD THAT IN ADDITION TO FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR RECALL, TRUCK WOULD NEED (1) CHECK VALVE PER EACH TANK. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS.*AK
