NO WARNING WHEN I SHAFTED INTO 2ND GEAR THE 1 INCH SHAFT @ THE REAR OF THE TRANNY SNAPPED THE DRIVE SHAFT FELL FROM THE FRONT & HIT THE PAVEMENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD A BUMPING NOISE IN HIS VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE GEARS ON THE REAR END FAILED. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THIS FAILURE SHOULD NOT OCCUR BECAUSE HE TAKES GOOD CARE OF HIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 49,000. THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IT FELT LIKE SOMEBODY HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK WITH A HAMMER AND THE BACK TIRES LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE HAD SLID ACROSS THE ROAD. THE MANUFACTURE HAD BEEN CONTACTED VIA E-MAIL AND HAS NOT RESPONDED. TS SCC
CLUTCH WILL NOT COME OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE CLUTCH MASTER END SNAPPING OFF. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED/ENGINE OFF. VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN HILL, GEAR SHIFT LEVER WAS STILL IN PARK. NO INJURIES, DAMAGE WAS $ 9700.00. *AK
HYDRAULIC CLUTCH KEEPS LEAKING ALL FLUID. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
AUTOMATIC FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM FAILURE, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE DOES NOT ENGAGE FRONT HUBS, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INOPERABLE. *AK
AT TIMES, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT TO 1ST,2ND, 3RD, OR 4TH GEARS AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. THIS IS AN INTERMITENT PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE VERY QUICKLY. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AND WITHIN A FEW MONTHS HAD TO TAKE IT BACK FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SYNCHRONOUS MECHANISM WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM NEVER WENT AWAY. I TOOK IT BACK AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF THE ORIGINAL REPAIR BECAUSE THERE STILL EXISTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN I SPOKE TO SAID THAT THIS WOULD GO AWAY ONCE THE GEARS WORE A LITTLE. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED. AND HERE WE ARE. *AK
THE TRANSMISSION(AODE) SHIFTS EXTREMELY HARSH FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR ABOUT 75% OF THE TIME. OCCASIONALLY IT WILL SHIFT SMOOTHLY, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT AMOUNT OF POWER IS APPLIED IT SHIFTS EITHER HARSH OR SMOOTH WHEN IT WANTS TO. CHANGED FLUID AND FOUND COURSE ALUMINUM SHAVINGS IN PAN, BUT ONLY EXTREMELY FINE FERROUS METAL PARTICLES ON MAGNET. AFTER INITIAL FLUID CHANGES(I HAVE DONE SEVERAL) THE TRANSMISSION OPERATES SMOOTHLY FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 20 TO 30 MILES THEN BEGINS SHIFTING HARSH AGAIN. *AK
THIS PROBLEM WAS WORKED ON TWICE IN 1996, TWICE IN 1997, ONCE IN 1998, AND ONCE IN 2000. VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I HAVE A FAMILY AND CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY HAZARD TO THEM AND ME. WE HAVE ALREADY FOUGHT FORD UNDER THE LEMON LAW FOR ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE IN 1993. *AK
WHILE CHANGING GEARS AT 25MPH THE CLUTCH STUCK, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO NEUTRAL AND NOT SHIFTING INTO GEAR. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO SECOND GEAR. ALSO FLUTTERS WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN SHIFTING INTO 5TH GEAR. *AK
HARD TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND OR TO ENGAGE INTO 1ST FROM NEUTRAL. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MODE, WHEEL HUBS LOCKED IN, CAUSING A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. DEALER HAS VERBALLY BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
THE DATES & MILEAGE I FILLED IN IS THE LATEST OF THE 3 FAILURES OF THE TRANSMISION.
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH DEFECTIVE DIFFERENTIAL. DEALER REPLACED TWO DIFFERENTIALS AND PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. FINALLY, CONSUMER HAD AN INDEPENDENT SHOP REPLACE THE DIFFERENTIAL, AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH IT. CAN NHTSA HELP IN THIS MATTER AND PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
PUSH ROD BROKE, NOT ALLOWING VEHICLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK

ON MY 1995 FORD F-150 P/U TRUCK, THERE IS A CLUTCH LINKAGE ROD WHICH GOES THROUGH THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH AND IMPACTS/INTERACTS WITH THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER. THIS PART ENDURES WEAR EACH TIME THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. AS SUCH, THE PLASTIC END OF THIS ROD AND THE PLASTIC SNAP/BUSHING/LOCK THAT IS PART OF IT ALSO WEARS SINCE THEY ARE IN CONTACT WITH A LINKAGE ROD WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE. WHEN THE WEAR BECOMES EXCESSIVE, THE SNAP RING/BUSHING/FEMALE ROD END FAIL AND SLIP OR BREAK OFF CAUSING THE CLUTCH TO ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION AT WHATEVER GEAR IS ENGAGED AT THAT TIME.
LOOSE TRANSMISSION CARRIAGE. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR UNDER THE EXISTING WARRANTY. THE TRANSMISSION, HAD I NOT PAID TO GET IT FIXED,COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR ALL OF A SUDDEN AS THIS WAS A FACTORY ASSEMBLY ERROR. *AK
ORIGINAL LOCKING HUBS WERE REPLACED IN JULY OF 1997. THEY WERE LOCKING THEMSELVES IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITH NO INPUT FROM DRIVER TO DO SO. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE WAS 42,508. MILEAGE IS NOW 67,000, AND THESE HUBS ARE NOW DOING THE SAME THING. COST ESTIMATE TO FIX PROBLEM IS AROUND $600. I THINK FORD SHOULD PICK UP THE TAB FOR THIS REPAIR. *AK
CONSUMER HAS A FIVE SPEED TRANSMISSION, AND 1ST AND 2 GEARS JUST GAVE OUT. THERE IS NO 1 AND 2 GEARS AT ALL. . DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
THE CLUTCH SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY LOOSES FLUID LEADING TO NO CLUTCH PEDAL (STAYS ON FLOOR). THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, ADDING FLUID TO THE RESERVOIR TEMPORARILY ELIMINATES THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED TO THE ONLY TWO OTHER PERSONS THAT I KNOW THAT OWN LIKE VEHICLES (F150, 94-95, MANUAL TRANS). THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE YOU ARE UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WORST IN COLDER WEATHER. NOT SURE IF RELATED TO NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: SB052797.
