TIRE CAME APART AT SIDEWALL TREADLINE. *AK( DOT NUMBER: W208 TIRE SIZE: P235-70R16 )
AT 15,000 MILES ALL THE TIRES ARE WORN DOWN PAST 2/32TH". WARRANTY STATES THAT THERE WARRANTIED TO 6 YEARS, 60,000 BEFORE THE TREAD WOULD WEAR DOWN THAT BAD. IVE BEEN TO NUMEROUS FORD AND FIRESTONE DEALERS BUT NONE WOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY. IVE ALSO LOCATED CRACKS IN THE TREADS. I STILL HAVE ALL 4 TIRES IN MY POSSESSION SINCE IVE REPLACED THE ORIGINALS. AT 15,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 1 YEAR AND 9 MONTHS OLD. FORD AND FIRESTONE ADMITTED THAT THERE "MIGHT" BE A PROBLEM BUT PAWNED IT OFF ON EACH OTHER. (DOT NUMBER: VN08 TIRESIZE: P235/70R16)
MY QUESTION IS ABOUT SAFETY FOR MYSELF AND ANY PERSON WITH ME IN REGARDS TO THESE TIRES, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE NOT FAILED AS SOME HAVE HOLDING TIRE PRESSURE AND HAVING TO SWITCH THEM MORE THAN ANY OTHER TIRE I HAVE OWNED TO AVOID THUMPING AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR . IT COMES BACK TO THIS , UNCERTAIN ABOUT SAFETY AND WHAT POSSIBLY COULD HAPPEN HAS PROMPTED THIS QUERY. PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A PAVEMENT ROAD AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE EXPLODED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION.*AK
A FRIEND WHO IS IN THE TIRE BUSINESS CALLED ME OUT TO LOOK AT MY TIRES ON THAT MORNING. HE SHOWED ME HOW THE TIRE WALL WAS SHREDDING AND THAT WAS NOT NORMAL AND URGED ME TO BRING MY TRUCK TO THE SHOP IMMEDIATELY, SO I DID. AT THAT TIME, I DID NOT REALIZE THAT IT COULD BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT, EVEN THOUGH MY FRIEND INSISTED THAT TIRES SHOULD NOT TEAR LIKE THAT. HAVING VIEWED THE RECENT NEWS RELEASES ABOUT THIS HAPPENING, I DECIDED TO LOG MY COMPLAINT. THE SALESPERSON AT FIRESTONE TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE MADE, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE, WHICH I DID. SINCE THEN, I HAVE INCURRED ANOTHER FLAT TIRE. THIS TIME IT WAS A NAIL, HOWEVER WHEN THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY DEFLATED, THERE WERE SOME THREADS THAT WERE PARTIALLY SHREDDED, HOWEVER I WAS ADVISED BY FIRESTONE THAT THE SHREDDING WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE TIRE FLAT AND WAS ASSURED THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE SOME SEPARATION. NOW I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY, BUT CAN NOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW SET OF TIRES.*AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P23570R16 )
FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT RIGHT REAR TIRE P25/70R16 MADE A THUMPING NOISE, AFTER INSPECTION FOUND TIRE HAD TREAD COMING UNGLUED FROM THE SIDEWALL. *SLC
TIRE LOOSES PRESSURE RAPIDLY AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF SLOW AIR LOSS. REPAIR FACILITY REMOVED/INSPECTED TIRE AND FOUND NO HOLES BUT HAS COMMENTED THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH FIRESTONE TIRES. I AM REPLACING 4 TIRES DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/70R16 )
REMOVED ORIGINIAL UNUSED SPARE TIRE FROM UNDER FRAME LOCATION. THE FORD F-150 UNDER FRAME MOUNTING DESIGN CAUSED 8 WEAR POINTS (FROM VIBRATION) AT LEAST 3/16" DEEP INTO OUTER SIDEWALL. THIS HAS CREATED A POTENTIAL UNSAFE TIRE BLOWOUT CONDITION. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR ONLY 16 MONTHS (@16,295 MILES) AND FIND THIS NEW SPARE NOW UNSAFE AND UNUSABLE. I WOULD LIKE THIS INVESTIGATED AND OTHER OWNERS NOTIFIED OF THIS SITUATION IF WARRANTED. I WILL BE CONTACTING UKIAH FORD THIS WEEK AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS TIRE REPLACED. CONTACT ME IF NEEDED. CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH TIRE SIDEWALL RUBBING AGAINST THE FRAME. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. BOTH WILL NOT ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MANUFACTURER'S. DEFECT OF THIS MATTER. *AK
PIECES OF RUBBER MISSING FROM FIRST GROOVE ON ALL FOUR TIRES. TIRES WERE LIKE THIS AT TIME OF PURCHASE. GOODYEAR SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG, DEALER SAYS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. TIRES ARE P275/60R-17 BSW ALL SEASON TIRES.
