I OWN A 2004 FORD F150 4-DOOR P/U. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOW IN MY FORD F150 HAVE FALLIN AT DIFFERENT TIMES ( WINDOW REGULATOR ). FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND I WAS TOLD THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, WERE NOT GOING TO ISSUE A RECALL. THIS WEEK MY 4TH WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL AGAIN WHILE IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT. I ADVISED FORD THIS WAS UNSAFE AND HOW CAN ANYONE SECURE A VEHICLE WITH FAULTY WINDOW REGULATORS. SOMEONE COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE IF THIS OCCURS DURING DRIVING AND THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR

THIS IS MY SECOND WINDOW REGULATOR TO BREAK. THE FIRST WAS THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY AT 60 MPH I HEARD A POP AND THEN AIR NOISE. (I SELDOM USE THE REAR WINDOWS.) THE MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE REGULATOR AND MOTOR BECAUSE THAT WAS ALL THE DEALER HAD IN STOCK. TODAY I HAD WINDOW DOWN ABOUT AN INCH WHILE PARKED. GOT IN TRUCK AND RAISED FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW AND HEARD POP. I KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM FROM LAST TIME AND WITH TALKING TO OTHER FORD TRUCK OWNERS. A FRIEND HAS THE SAME MODEL TRUCK AND HAS REPLACE THREE OF THE FOUR REGULATORS IN HIS FORD TRUCK. WHEN I BEGAN DRIVING THE WINDOW DROPPED. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN HARD OR OFF ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE WINDOW MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS DOING A DAY TRIP HAULING HORSES BY MYSELF WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO HEAD HOME WHEN I HEARD THIS TERRIBLE NOISE AND SOON WATCHED THE REAR RIGHT WINDOW DISAPPEAR AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. I TOOK IT INTO FORD TODAY AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $300 TO FIX BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE IN STOCK AND THAT IT WAS THE REGULATOR THAT WENT OUT. I HAD THEM CHECK THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW AS WELL AS IT WOULD GO DOWN BUT WOULD NOT GO UP USING THAT DOOR WINDOW SWITCH AND THAT THE SWITCH NEEDS REPLACED AND THAT WOULD BE $130 DOLLARS AND AGAIN PART WAS NOT IN STOCK SO COULD NOT REPLACE. SO WHEN I WENT IN TO GET MY TRUCK ALL OF A SUDDEN I FIND OUT THAT OTHER THAN THE OIL CHANGE WHICH I EXPECTED MY BILL JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AND OIL CHANGE WAS OVER $190.00 AND MY WINDOWS WERE NOT FIXED YET AND NOT TOLD AHEAD OF TIME WHAT THE CHARGE MIGHT BE SO THE EXTRA $150 WAS TOTALLY NOT BUDGETS. BUT HAD TO PAY AS I NEEDED MY TRUCK TO GET HOME. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT MY BROTHER IN LAWS TRUCK ALSO A 2004 HAD A VIN NUMBER SET THAT FORD DID REPLACE THE REGULATOR BUT NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER. NOW THAT REALLY UPSET US A LOT ESPECIALLY FINDING OUT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT WE COULD HAVE ISSUES WITH THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS. FORD REALLY NEEDS TO RECALLED ALL 2004 F150 DOOR REGULATORS BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS HURT AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF GLASS WAS TO BREAK IF IT HAD HAPPENED WHILE IN ROUTE. PLUS WAS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY SO EVIDENTLY THE WARRANTY COMPANIES ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IF THEY EXCLUDE IT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCAB DOWN THE STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD ON MY WAY TO WORK. I ROLLED UP THE POWER WINDOWS AND HEARD A WEIRD SOUND FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR. I DECIDED TO ROLL IT BACK DOWN TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. AS SOON AS I PRESSED THE DOWN BUTTON, THE WINDOW JUST FELL RIGHT INTO THE DOOR. IT WAS A LITTLE FRIGHTENING AND COULD SEE HOW IT COULD CAUSE A WRECK IF IT HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN I GOT TO WORK, I GOT OUT TO CHECK IT OUT. I COULD STILL HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING, BUT I COULD HEAR PIECES OF GLASS AND KNEW THE WINDOW SHATTERED. *TR

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A LOUD BANG AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FALLS INTO THE DOOR AND WILL NOT ROLL BACK UP. REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR THREE MONTHS AGO WHILE PARKED IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE. APPARENTLY THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS AND THE WINDOWS FALL INSIDE THE DOOR. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD F150 WINDOW REGULATORS. FORD IS CHARGING BETWEEN $250 - $500 TO FIX THE REGULATORS PER WINDOW. SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO FIX THE SAME WINDOW MORE THAN ONCE. *TR

TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO NOW I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TRACK ASSEMBLY FOR THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE WINDOW JUST FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THIS COULD OF RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE WINDOW JUST FALLING! TWO DAYS AGO, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE WINDOWS GOING DOWN WHEN YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING IT IS SCARY. THESE WINDOWS UNEXPECTEDLY GOING DOWN CAN RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN ENGINEERING DEFECT IN THESE WINDOW SYSTEMS. I HAVE BOTH ORIGINAL FORD PARTS THAT CAME OUT OF THE DOOR PANELS. I CALLED FORD, BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOWS REGULATORS HAD BECOME INOPERABLE AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE AND THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ALL FOUR WINDOWS. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD BEEN REPLACED BECAUSE BOTH WINDOWS OPENED AND DROPPED INTO THE DOOR PANEL INDEPENDENTLY. IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE FAILURE, THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPONENT WAS MANUFACTURED OF PLASTIC AND COULD FAIL EASILY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON BUT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED TWO WINDOW REGULATORS AND MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WINDOW DISAPPEARED STARTLING ME. I HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR WHO WERE FRIGHTENED BY THE GUSH OF WIND. IT SURPRISED ME AND I WAS NOT CERTAIN WHAT HAPPENED MY WINDOW WAS JUST GONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.THE WINDOW HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. APPARENTLY AFTER MY RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT FORD HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH ITS WINDOW REGULATORS FAILING CAUSING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. BOTH TIMES I WAS ON HIGHWAYS OR TOLL ROADS WHEN THE WINDOWS FELL IN THE DOOR AND I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OFF TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. AFTER SEARCHING FOR REMEDIES ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD TRUCKS. WHY HASN'T FORD OFFERED A RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE. WHEN MY DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW FELL I WAS DOING 50 MPH ON A TOLL ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVY RAIN STORM. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

IN MY SUPER-CAB - WITHOUT WARNING THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL COMPLETELY DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR AND WOULD NOT RAISE BACK UP WHILE IN ROUTE ON THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS LOUD AND SHOCKING! THIS OCCURRED OUT OF WARRANTY THE FIRST TIME AT 53,354 MILES. YESTERDAY (3/4/12), THE PASSENGER WINDOW DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING AND STARTLED MYSELF AND MY WIFE. THIS PRESENTS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND UNSECURED SITUATION, ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER CONDITIONS WE EXPERIENCE HERE IN THE NORTHWEST. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER, PASSENGER, AND REAR PASSENGER WINDOWS WOULD OPEN AND FALL INTO THE DOOR PANEL UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT ADVISED THEM OF THE FAILURE, STATING THAT HE HAD BEEN A VITIM OF THEFT AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.

I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT LETTING MY CAR COOL DOWN BEFORE I ROLLED UP THE WINDOWS AND ONCE I PROCEEDED TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW IT MADE A LOUD THUMP/POP NOISE AND THE WINDOW FELL BETWEEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOORWAY. I HAD MY LOCAL MECHANIC FIX IT ON 6/30 AND RIGHT AFTER LEAVING HIS SHOP, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HEARD A LOUD NOISE COME FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE (AND ALMOST WRECKED INTO A PARKED CAR DUE TO THE NOISE!) AND STOPPED TO INSPECT WHAT HAPPENED. I TRIED THE WINDOW AND IT SLAMMED RIGHT BETWEEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. NOW TWO WINDOWS AND $800.00 LATER I HAVE THEM FIXED DUE TO THE WINDOW REGULATOR GOING OUT IN EACH ONE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS I CALLED FORD AND THEY WOULD DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN GIBBS ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE A 2011 VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM WEBASTO TO NORTH AMERICA, INC FOR VEHICLE SUNROOF GLASS PANELS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE SUNROOF DID NOT OPEN. THE CONSUMER THEN RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL, REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS INFORMED THE SUNROOF WOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE EVEN IF IT DIDN'T OPEN. THE PARTS WERE SHIPPED TO AN AUTHORIZED COMPANY TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, HE WAS TOLD HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE SUNROOF OPENED. WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AGAIN, THEY STATED HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET THE SUNROOF OPENED, AND THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PARTS TO BE INSTALLED. *JB

THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE DRIVERSIDE WINDOW CAME CRASHING DOWN WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON 12/01/11 ALL I HEARD WAS A LOUD POP THEN NO WINDOW ALMOST WRECKED CAUSE OF THE SOUND THEN A WEEK LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME THING BUT AFTER I TRIED TO PUT THE WINDOW UP AFTER I GOT BACK HOME THE DEALER STATES THAT THERE STILL ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS I READ ONLINE THAT GOES BACK 5YRS WHY ISN'T NO ONE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
