The fuel module failed and the 5,4l Triton engine stopped running. There was no power steering or power brakes in the middle of the fast lane on the interstate. This was a safety critical walk home. The component was disposed of. The vehicle stopped in the fast lane. Possibility to be hit from behind, Ford denied my claim. There were no warnings of the failure. Galvanic corrosion.

Vehicle reports “check charging system” which has an associated TSB but no recall. My understanding is that the AC drips water on the alternator harness causing degradation and shorting of the wires. A new wiring harness as well as a drain relocation kit are required. I do not believe the customer should be responsible for this repair.

Spark plug blow out. Yes it is available for inspection. Ongoing very common issues with triton engines blowing out spark plugs making a fire hazard because fuel vapor coming out of plug hole could be ignited by coil pack. All ford dealerships are very aware of this issue and have repaired many by rethreading and installing a helicoil thread repair kit at a very high price of 800 dollars and most repairs are temporary because the aluminum is weak and very thin at the spark plug hole. Ford is very aware of this ongoing issue and denies any liability experts don’t agree with fords arguments. No warning the plugs start to blow out at around 140000 miles well after the warranty. This problem started in the 90s all triton engines are affected. As in the photo the dealers attempt to repair was unsuccessful the spark plug is tightened to deep into the head and is broken off. They said at the end of the day I need a new head. 5000 dollars.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was displaying the incorrect fuel level. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

TRUCK WOULDN'T START. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. THE PART WAS BOLTED TO THE CROSS MEMBER ON THE BACK OF THE FRAME. THE BOTTOM OF THE PART IS ALUMINUM AND THE CROSS MEMBER IS STEEL, AND THEY WERE BOLTED FLUSH TOGETHER. REPLACED THE PART AND TRUCK WORKS FINE. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THIS AND REIMBURSE ALL PARTIES WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM.01

THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE VARIABLE SPEED TIMING SOLENOID. THE REMEDY DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,334,000.

POWER WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY. AT ALL SWITCHES. NO POWER TO THEM. WIRES IN DOOR JAM FOR POWER WINDOWS RUBBED TILL THEY BROKE. LEAVING NO POWER TO ANY WINDOW AT ANY SWITCH. COST $ 370.00 FOR FORD TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX BROKEN WIRES RIGHT WHERE MECHANIC KNEW THEY WERE BROKE BEFORE LOOKING.. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM IN THESE TRUCKS AND FORD SHOULD OWN UP TO IT AND FIX THEM FREE OF CHARGE. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED FORDS BUT AFTER THIS EPISODE WITH THE DEALERSHIP. NOT TO HAPPY......CHECKED INTERNET. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES ON THIS VEHICLE AFTER BUYING IT NEW IN OCTOBER 2007, IN OCTOBER 2009 THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER STOPPED WORKING WAS REPAIRED AND AGAIN MONTHS LATER STOPPED WORKING. THE WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING A TOTAL OF SIX TIMES WITH THREE OF THOSE BEING THIS YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN TO BE REPAIRED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES THIS YEAR ALONE AND THE LAST TIME , ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE WEEKS AGO I INSTRUCTED THE WORKER TO JUST LET THE WINDOWS UP AND DISCONNECT THEM AFTER BEING TOLD THAT I NEEDED A COMPLETE NEW WIRING HARNESS WHICH WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRING WAS BRITTLE AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE F 150. I FEEL THAT THIS COULD POSE A DANGER IN AN EMERGENCY ESCAPE SITUATION AS WELL AS OTHER PROBLEMS. THIS PROBLEM ALSO INVOLVE THE ELECTRONIC LOCKING SYSTEM WHICH IS A GREAT SAFETY HAZARD, I CAN GET NO REAL RESPONSE FROM FORD.

THIS VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED A NO STARTING CONDITION 40-50 TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASE IT. IT HAS BEEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES(20 OR MORE) FOR THE CONDITION. THIS VEHICLE IS OPERATED BY THE CHARLESTON COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND HAS REPEATEDLY STRANDED OUR EMPLOYEE AT REMOTE LOCATIONS AROUND THE COUNTY AND PREVENTED THE EMPLOYEE FROM RESPONDING TO WORK ASSIGNMENTS. BETWEEN THE DTE OF 6/21/11 AND 7/5/2011 OT HAS BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES!!!! *TR

DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUGS IN 2007 FORD F150 5.4 L 3VALVE V8. I WAS INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC AT FORD THAT THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT ONE OR ALL OF MY SPARK PLUGS MIGHT BREAK DURING REMOVAL, AND THAT IT WILL COST AN ADDITIONAL 90.00 TO EXTRACT EACH BROKEN PLUG. IN FACT THERE IS A TSB BULLETIN WITH PROCEDURES TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. TSB 08-1-9 . I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT IN THE MODERN AGE WE HAVE SUCH A DEFECTIVE SITUATION. AND NO REMEDY. FORD HAS STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THERE ARE SUFFICIENT COMPLAINTS AND INSTRUCTED BY YOUR AGENCY. LEAVING THOSE OWNERS OF THE 5.4L ENGINE TO FOOT THE REPAIR BILL ON AN OTHERWISE SIMPLE PROCESS FOR OTHER VEHICLES. IN ADDITIONTHE FORD MANUAL STATES THE SPARK PLUGS ARE GOOD FOR 100,000 MI. BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HIGHLY RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS AT 60,000 MI TO PREVENT SEIZED SPARK PLUGS. QUITE A CONTRADICTION. IF THIS IS POOR ENGINEERING ON FORDS PART, THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEAR THE BURDEN. *TR

BATTERY DEAD AFTER LESS THAN 2 YEARS. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE. DEALER CLAIMS NON-EOM STEREO DRAINS BATTERY IN ONLY MINUTES. STEREO UNHOOKED.. PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE TRUCK TOOK A COUPLE OF RETRIES TO GET IT FROM START TO FINISH OF A TX STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE BATTERY DIES, EVEN AFTER CHARGING OVERNIGHT. LAST TIME. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF HIS VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY STARTING ON A CONSTANT BASIS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 18,600.
