TEMPORARY LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS AND TIGHT TURNS. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST RUN OFF THE ROAD WHILE PULLING MY BOAT OR MOTORCYCLE TRAILER. FORD DEALER CHECKED POWER STEERING PUMP AND FOUND IT WAS PUMPING LESS FLUID THAN REQUIRED. REPLACED PUMP. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING 63 MPH, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A SMALL DIP IN THE ROAD. THE STEERING BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE CONTACT WANTS THE VEHICLE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, ADVISED HIM TO FOLLOW THE TSB INSTRUCTION TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

RECURRING OSCILLATION IN THE STEERING. IT HASN'T CURRENTLY LED TO ANY WRECKS OR COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL. WE ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT BY PUTTING ON HEAVIER DUTY STEERING DAMPERS. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. I DRIVE A COMPANY 2006 FORD F250 4X4 THAT I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE STEERING PROBLEM INCIDENTS WITH. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN YOU HIT A POT-HOLE IN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE TRUCK GOES INTO A NEARLY COMPLETE OUT OF CONTROL SHIMMY. IF UNCHECKED THE TRUCK WOULD LITERALLY SHAKE ITS SHELF APART. IN ONE INCIDENT THE TRUCK VIBRATED INTO THE NEXT LANE. LUCK HAD IT THAT NO ONE WAS IN THAT LANE. TO STOP THE VIOLENT VIBRATION YOU HAVE TO DROP THE SPEED OF THE TRUCK BELOW 40MPH AND BECAUSE THE FRONT END IS VIBRATING SO VIOLENTLY BRAKING IS VERY LIMITED DUE TO THE LIMITED TIRE CONTACT WITH THE PAVEMENT. MY COMPANY HAS A NUMBER OF THESE TRUCKS IN ITS FLEET AND HAS HAD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING OTHER TRUCKS. IT HAS MADE THE COMPANY ISSUE A SITE WIDE BAN FROM DRIVING THESE TRUCKS ON THE HIGHWAY IN FEAR OF POSSIBLE INJURIES. AS THESE TRUCKS AGE AND PARTS BECOME WORN IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME WHEN AN INCIDENT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE HAPPENS AND THE TRUCK WILL COME APART AND CAUSE A CRASH WITH INJURIES OR DEATHS. *TR
